Abstract

This paper explores the development of Qur’anic exegesis methodology from the classical to the contemporary period using a qualitative library research approach. The study aims to identify the various interpretive methods employed by Qur’anic scholars (mufassir) throughout history, as well as their significance in preserving the integrity of divine revelation and addressing the demands of changing times. Qur’anic interpretation requires a robust methodological foundation to avoid misinterpretation. Historically, methods such as bi al-ma’tsur (transmitted), bi al-ra’yi (reason-based), ijmali (general), tahlili (analytical), maudhu’i (thematic), and muqaran (comparative) have evolved to suit different socio-religious contexts. In the modern era, new approaches like contextual, maqasidi, and scientific interpretations have emerged in response to contemporary issues such as environmentalism, gender, and pluralism. This study also highlights the importance of mastering auxiliary sciences such as Arabic grammar, rhetoric, and the reasons for revelation (asbab al-nuzul) as prerequisites for valid interpretation. Thus, the methodology of tafsir is not merely an academic tool but a spiritual framework ensuring that the divine message of the Qur’an remains authentic, relevant, and applicable across time and context.

Abstract

This study analyzes Government Regulation (PP) Number 28 of 2024 on Health in Indonesia, focusing on access to contraception for adolescents, which has sparked debates regarding its impact on sexual behavior and moral values, particularly from a religious perspective. On the other hand, arguments supporting access to contraception emphasize its role in preventing unwanted pregnancies, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and safeguarding adolescents' reproductive health. This study examines Islamic principles such as preserving life (hifz al-nafs), preventing harm (sad al-dhara'ir), and protecting the family (hifz al-usrah), as well as differing fiqh perspectives on contraception. The findings reveal that while premarital sex is prohibited in Islam, the principle of health protection may justify the use of contraception in certain situations. However, access to contraception for unmarried adolescents remains controversial and requires a holistic approach. This study highlights the importance of sexuality education grounded in Islamic values and the role of families and communities in guiding adolescents. The ideal solution lies in establishing an integrated system that combines responsible sexuality education, adolescent counseling, and family support. Dialogue among policymakers, religious scholars, healthcare practitioners, and civil society is crucial to formulating policies that are wise and in line with Islamic principles.

Abstract

Islam's intellectual heritage, each with its characteristics of the bayani method emphasizes understanding divine texts through linguistic and normative approaches; the burhani method relies on logic and rationality as primary tools for acquiring knowledge; while the irfani method focuses more on inner experience, intuition, and spiritual illumination.This study aims to comprehensively explain the three main approaches in Islamic epistemology bayani, burhani, and irfani and to evaluate their relevance and contribution in responding to the challenges of scientific and intellectual development in contemporary Islamic thought. This study employs a qualitative approach using the library research method by examining various classical and contemporary sources relevant to describing and analyzing the three approaches. Data is collected from journals, books, and academic writings that discuss Islamic epistemology from various perspectives. The findings show that each method has its own strengths and limitations. The bayani approach is strong in legal authority and textual clarity but often lacks responsiveness to social changes. The burhani approach is highly rational and analytical but tends to overlook spiritual aspects. The irfani approach, on the other hand, offers profound insight into inner and esoteric dimensions, yet remains subjective and difficult to verify. Therefore, integrating the three is deemed essential to forming a holistic, contextual, and balanced Islamic scientific framework that unites text, reason, and spiritual insight. This study concludes that the synergy among the bayani, burhani, and irfani methods not only enriches the Islamic intellectual tradition but also contributes significantly to the development of Islamic education, law, and thought that are responsive to contemporary realities.

Abstract

The miracle of the Qur'an (I'jaz Al-Qur'an) is proof of the power and uniqueness of the Qur'an, where its truth is beyond doubt. This study aims to analyze the miracle of the Qur'an through the study of I'jaz Al-Qur'an, so that the extraordinary values contained therein are maintained and not ignored. A qualitative approach based on literature studies was used in this study. Primary data sources are from the Qur'an and secondary data sources from related articles, books, and journals. Data analysis was carried out through descriptive review, interpretation, and understanding of meaning. The results of the study show that I'jaz Al-Qur'an) is clear evidence of the truth of the Islamic message, where its content and structure are able to move the human heart to believe in and accept its teachings. The uniqueness of the Qur'an is also seen in the use of Arabic which has distinctive characteristics such as rich vocabulary, clarity of pronunciation, neat grammatical structure, and its ability to convey profound messages. This language makes it easier to understand the Koran, making it a blessing, life guidance and guidance for Muslims until the end of time, without undergoing any changes.

Abstract

Awareness of the importance of halal certification and BPOM distribution permits has grown alongside increasing consumer concern for both safety and compliance with Islamic principles in cosmetic products. These two aspects often serve as key considerations in purchase decisions, especially among students who possess a strong understanding of religious values and regulatory standards. This study aims to analyze the influence of halal certification and BPOM permits on the purchase intention of female students at the Faculty of Islamic Studies, Muhammadiyah University of Makassar, in 2024. A quantitative approach was applied using multiple linear regression analysis, with data collected through questionnaires distributed to respondents selected by probability sampling. The results indicate that halal certification has a significant effect on purchase intention (t = 5.921 > t-table 1.971), as does the BPOM permit (t = 9.412 > t-table). Simultaneous testing also reveals a strong and significant effect (F = 204.125 > F-table 3.04) with a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.579, meaning that 57.9% of the variation in purchase intention is explained by these two factors, while 42.1% is influenced by other variables. These findings highlight that halal certification enhances consumer trust and confidence, while BPOM permits ensure legality and product safety, making both critical in shaping cosmetic purchasing decisions.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan peran Musabaqoh Qiroatul Kutub (MQK) dalam meningkatkan motivasi belajar Kitab Kuning Di Pondok Pesantren Darul Falah Jerukmacan Sawo Jetis Mojokerto, penelitian ini juga membahas tentang pelaksanaan Musabaqoh Qiroatul Kutub (MQK) yang ada didalam pondok pesantren Darul Falah serta faktor yang berkontribusi terhadap efektivitas Musabaqoh Qiroatul Kutub (MQK) dalam meningkatkan motivasi belajar kitab kuning di pondok pesantren Darul Falah. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara observasi, wawancara mendalam dan analisa dokumen. Sumber data penelitian dikumpulkan dari pengasuh pondok pesantren, ustadz ustadzah, serta para santri peserta Musabaqoh Qiroatul Kutub (MQK). Hasil penelitian menyatakan bahwa penerapan Musabaqoh Qiroatul Kutub (MQK) di pondok pesantren Darul Falah mempunyai peranan yang sangat penting untuk meningkatkan motivasi belajar kitab kuning santri. Suatu kegiatan yang dapat membuat santri sangat bersungguh-sungguh dalam belajar karena sudah menjadi suatu kewajaran ketika ada perlombaan pasti terdapat keinginan diri untuk menjadi sang juara. Meningkatkannya motivasi dapat dilihat dari semakin semangatnya santri dalam mempelajari kitab kuning, semakin semangat menghafal kitab nahwu shorof terlihat dari hasil setoran yang meningkat serta banyaknya prestasi yang telah diperoleh santriwan santriwati pondok pesantren Darul Falah Jerukmacan Sawo Jetis Mojokerto

Abstract

Character education plays a crucial role in shaping students who are not only intellectually capable but also disciplined, responsible, and morally upright. In this context, hadrah training, as a traditional Islamic art form, is believed to have strong potential as a medium for character development in Islamic elementary schools. This study aims to analyze the transformation of student character through hadrah training at MI Tarbiyatul Wathan Kraksaan, Probolinggo. Employing a qualitative approach with a case study design, the research involved observations of hadrah training activities, interviews with teachers and students, and documentation of the program. The collected data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results reveal that hadrah training significantly contributes to the formation of student character, especially in aspects of discipline, cooperation, responsibility, and religiosity. Students also developed stronger social bonds and a deeper appreciation of Islamic traditions. The novelty of this study lies in its focus on hadrah not merely as a cultural performance or religious practice, but as a pedagogical strategy for character transformation in madrasah ibtidaiyah, an area rarely explored in previous research. These findings provide practical implications for strengthening character education curricula through Islamic cultural arts in schools.

Abstract

Social media has emerged as an informal learning space that shapes how university students understand Islamic teachings. This study aims to identify the role of social media in enhancing the quality of Islamic Religious Education (IRE) among students, while also evaluating its challenges and opportunities. This research employs a library research approach, utilizing data from scholarly books, journals, and relevant academic publications. Data were analyzed through content analysis and a comparative-critical approach to theories and prior findings. The results indicate that social media holds significant potential in improving students' Islamic understanding, especially when paired with innovative, value-based pedagogy. However, low digital literacy and the prevalence of entertainment content present major barriers. Lecturers play a crucial role as content curators and facilitators of religious literacy. In conclusion, the integration of social media in IRE must be strategically designed by blending technology with Islamic values to foster a learning experience that is critical, contextual, and spiritual in the digital age.

Abstract

Through a philosophical examination of the thinking of AlGhazali and Ibn Rushd, this research examines the dialectics of classical Islamic epistemology and contemporary Islamic Religious Education (IRE). The study’s driving force is the epistemological issues of current IRE, which is frequently seen as normative and lacking in critical engagement, necessitating a more comprehensive philosophical framework. The goals are to analyze the dialectical connection between the two authors, describe their epistemology, and discuss its significance for contemporary IRE. Utilizing primary materials from AlGhazali and Ibn Rushd as well as pertinent secondary literature, this work adopts a philosophical-hermeneutic approach to library research. According to the findings, Ibn Rushd prioritizes rationality and the compatibility of philosophy and sharī’a, whereas AlGhazali’s epistemology combines reason and intuition (kashf) with a focus on spirituality. Their dialectics yield an inclusive epistemological framework that reconciles rational-critical and moral-spiritual components. The implication is that modern IRE can be cultivated as a middle-of-the-road, conversational, and globally relevant educational model. Theoretically, this study adds to the discussion of Islamic philosophy of education, and practically, it helps to create modern IRE curricula.

Abstract

The need for innovative learning models in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) has become urgent to address contemporary challenges while preserving spiritual authenticity. This study explores the integration of Quantum Learning in PAI, which combines modern psychological principles with traditional tarbiyah values. A qualitative library research approach was employed, analyzing literature on Quantum Learning, educational psychology, and Islamic educational concepts. Data were processed through reduction, categorization, and descriptive-analytical interpretation. The results indicate that Quantum Learning significantly enhances student motivation, supports the internalization of religious values, and strengthens character development. Techniques such as the TANDUR model, mind mapping, and creative learning strategies can be harmonized with tarbiyah principles, including sincerity, adab (proper manners), and worship-oriented goals. Consequently, PAI instruction shifts from rote knowledge transfer to fostering cognitive, affective, and spiritual competencies. This integration offers a strategic solution to meet 21st-century educational demands without compromising Islamic teachings. Teacher training and adequate learning resources are essential to optimize its implementation.
