Abstract

Islamic Religious Education (IRE) learning in the era of the Independent Curriculum is required to not only focus on cognitive aspects, but also to be able to develop students' emotional intelligence as preparation for facing the challenges of the 21st century. This study aims to formulate a holistic PAI learning innovation model that is relevant to emotional resilience needs. A descriptive qualitative research approach was used through library research by reviewing national and international literature on PAI, emotional intelligence, and the Merdeka Curriculum. Data analysis was conducted using content analysis techniques to identify conceptual relationships and opportunities for integration. The results showed that a holistic approach based on reflection, empathy, collaboration, and social projects was effective in developing five aspects of emotional intelligence: self-awareness, self-management, motivation, empathy, and social skills. This study confirms that this model makes PAI not only a means of knowledge transfer, but also a transformative medium for shaping the character, spirituality, and emotional resilience of students. Thus, holistic PAI learning innovation within the framework of the Merdeka Curriculum has the potential to strengthen the function of Islamic education as a pillar of developing a superior, adaptive, and noble generation.

Abstract

This study examines the impact of globalization on Muslim religious identity from social and cultural perspectives. Globalization, characterized by the rapid cross-border exchange of culture, information, and values, presents both opportunities and challenges for Muslims in interpreting, expressing, and maintaining their religious identity. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through observation, literature review, and in-depth interviews with religious leaders, academics, and Muslim communities. The findings reveal two contrasting sides: on the one hand, globalization broadens religious horizons and strengthens transnational solidarity through digital media, while on the other, it fosters value shifts, consumerist lifestyles, and identity crises, particularly among Muslim youth. These results highlight the need for the revitalization of religious education and the contextualization of Islamic values to remain relevant in contemporary times. The study recommends an integrative approach that combines local wisdom with global perspectives to strengthen and sustain a resilient and adaptive Muslim religious identity in the era of globalization.

Abstract

Humanitarian challenges in the contemporary era increasingly demand ethical frameworks that are both universal and contextually relevant. While international humanitarian norms provide globally recognized standards, Islamic ethics offer a distinctive moral foundation grounded in divine accountability and social responsibility. This study aims to conduct a comparative analysis of Islamic ethical principles and international humanitarian norms in modern contexts. Employing a qualitative research design, the study draws upon in-depth interviews with Islamic scholars and humanitarian practitioners, complemented by document analysis of relevant texts and guidelines. The findings reveal significant areas of convergence, such as the shared emphasis on human dignity, justice, and the protection of vulnerable groups. However, divergence emerges in the epistemological grounding, where Islamic ethics prioritize transcendental values rooted in revelation, while international norms emphasize secular and legalistic frameworks. The study highlights both opportunities and tensions in integrating these perspectives, particularly in contexts where global standards must engage with religious traditions. Theoretically, the research contributes to the discourse on comparative ethics by bridging Islamic thought and global humanitarian paradigms. Practically, it offers insights for policymakers, NGOs, and educational institutions seeking to develop more inclusive and culturally sensitive humanitarian approaches. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the transformational leadership of school principals in improving the performance of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in the era of Society 5.0 in MAN 2 TRENGGALEK by integrating the values of Islamic education management. The approach used is qualitative with a case study design at MAN 2 TRENGGALEK Indonesia. The subjects of the study include school principals, PAI teachers, vice principals for curriculum, and madrasah supervisors. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and documentation studies, then analyzed using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña models with cross-case analysis. The results of the study show that madrasah heads implement integrated management functions including participatory planning, effective organization, implementation of Islamic value-based programs, and structured supervision. PAI teachers at MAN 2 TRENGGALEK play a strategic role in supporting education management through curriculum planning, fostering religious activities, and monitoring the development of students' morals. Collaboration between madrasah heads and PAI teachers has been proven to form a conducive religious climate, strengthen academic achievements, and internalize Islamic values in all aspects of education. The integration of transformational leadership theory with Islamic educational management principles results in relevant leadership models to address the challenges of Society 5.0 without neglecting the roots of traditional values. These findings provide a theoretical contribution to the literature on Islamic education management and practical implications for the development of policies to improve the quality of religious education in Islamic-based schools.

Abstract

The digital era and the evolving world of work demand that students not only rely on theoretical knowledge but also develop an entrepreneurial spirit. The Islamic Education Management Study Program at STIT Muhammadiyah Tempurrejo Ngawi responds to this need through the Edupreneurship course, designed to foster students' entrepreneurial character and skills. The purpose of this study was to analyze the role of the Edupreneurship course in building the mindset and developing entrepreneurial competencies in MPI students. The study used a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were obtained through observations of the learning process and interviews with lecturers and students. The results showed that the Edupreneurship course successfully developed students' entrepreneurial spirit through theory and practice, such as creative product development, business simulations, and business plan development. Students experienced improvements in creativity, independence, and risk-taking. Factors driving success included applicable teaching methods, internal student motivation, and supportive campus facilities. Challenges faced included students' limited business experience and limited access to capital. These findings indicate the importance of strengthening entrepreneurship within the curriculum and optimizing hands-on practice to better prepare students to become entrepreneurs in the educational field.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the meaning and function of proverbs (parables) in Surah Al-Baqarah as an instrument for fostering Islamic morals. Proverbs in the Qur’an are one of the communicative and pedagogical methods used to convey moral and spiritual values concretely, so that the moral messages can be understood deeply and applied in daily life. Surah Al-Baqarah was chosen because it contains various parables rich in ethical and theological meanings, such as the parable of the hypocrites, the one who spends wealth ostentatiously, and the parable of the fly, which illustrates human weakness before Allah's power. The approach in this study uses a qualitative-descriptive method with library research through thematic analysis. The results of this study indicate that proverbs in Surah Al-Baqarah function as instruments of moral education that guide humans toward the values of sincerity, patience, honesty, trustworthiness, and reliance on God. Proverbs also serve as a means of spiritual reflection that fosters awareness of the relationship between humans and God as well as with others. This study emphasizes that exploring Quranic proverbs has significant relevance in the development of contemporary Islamic character education and can be used as a conceptual model in moral guidance within Islamic educational institutions.

Abstract

The science of Munasabah is a branch of Qur'anic jurisprudence that examines the interconnectedness and harmony of meaning between verses and suras in the Quran. This study aims to analyze the contribution of the science of Munasabah to the consistency of the da'wah message in the Makkiyah Surahs, particularly regarding key themes such as monotheism, prophecy, and the Day of Resurrection. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach with library research methods. Data were collected through a review of classical and contemporary tafsir books, as well as the latest scientific literature relevant to the concept of munasabah and Qur'anic da'wah. The analysis was conducted thematically to identify patterns of verse relationships and meaning structures that reinforce the da'wah message. The results show that the science of Munasabah plays a crucial role in maintaining the coherence and unity of the da'wah theme in the Makkiyah Surahs. The logical interconnectedness between verses creates a continuous argumentation that reinforces the message of monotheism and the faith of Muslims in the early days of the prophethood. Munasabah also proves that the Qur'anic revelation is systematically structured and free from contradictions, allowing the message of da'wah to be conveyed rationally, persuasively, and contextually. Thus, the science of al-Munasabah not only reveals the miraculous aspects and rhetorical beauty of the Qur'an but also strengthens the effectiveness of Islamic da'wah as a complete and continuous system of theological communication.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) in addressing the moral crisis triggered by viral culture among youth in the digital era. Using a qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical library research method, the study explores how social media has reshaped youth values, identity, and moral orientation toward a culture of popularity and social validation. The findings reveal that viral culture weakens integrity and spirituality, leading to impulsive behavior and moral decline. Islamic Religious Education plays a strategic role as a moral and spiritual compass by strengthening digital literacy grounded in Islamic ethics, integrating religious values into learning, and empowering teachers as digital role models. Revitalizing PAI through adaptive curricula, technology-based learning innovations, and collaboration among schools, families, and communities is essential to form a digitally intelligent, ethically responsible, and spiritually grounded generation. This study concludes that PAI is not merely a religious subject but a transformative force in building moral and spiritual awareness amidst the rapid flow of digital culture.

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to conduct a paradigmatic reconstruction of the Islamic Studies discipline through comprehensive analysis of four fundamental pillars: epistemological scope, contextual urgency, and the development of classical and contemporary approaches that shape the dynamics of this scientific field. Methods: The research uses qualitative methods with philosophical-analytical and historical-critical approaches through in-depth library research. Data analysis was conducted through hermeneutic interpretation techniques, historical comparison, and critical reflection on primary and secondary sources in classical and modern Islamic scholarship. Findings: The study reveals that the scope of Islamic Studies has transformed from the study of authoritative texts alone towards the inclusion of all manifestations of Islam in socio-historical reality. The urgency of this discipline in the contemporary context includes epistemological, socio-cultural, educational, political, and civilizational dialogue dimensions. Classical approaches that are theological-normative and philological-transmissive show methodological robustness but face contextualization challenges, while contemporary approaches that are interdisciplinary and critical offer responses to modernity but require integration with classical heritage. Novelty: This article presents an integrative model that synthesizes the strengths of classical and contemporary approaches in a coherent epistemological framework, promoting the paradigm of "Contextual-Transformative Islamic Studies" as an answer to the scientific dichotomies that have so far occurred.

Abstract

This study examines the concept of spiritual development toward the maqām of Ihsan through the perspectives of two prominent Muslim scholars, Imam al-Ghazali and Said Hawwa. Using a library research method with a descriptive-comparative approach, this study analyzes key ideas related to tazkiyatun nafs, the purification of the soul, and their relevance to contemporary Islamic education. Al-Ghazali emphasizes the stages of takhalli, tahalli, and tajalli as an introspective spiritual framework centered on purifying the heart and controlling desires. In contrast, Said Hawwa presents a more contextually modern framework of tarbiyah ruhiyah, highlighting the integration of personal spiritual growth with social righteousness through collective religious engagement. The findings reveal that the perspectives of the two scholars complement each other: al-Ghazali provides a foundational model for individual spiritual refinement, while Said Hawwa expands the concept toward social involvement grounded in sincerity and ihsan. The synthesis of these two approaches offers substantial relevance for Islamic educational curricula, particularly in pesantren, by shaping students who are ethically grounded, spiritually conscious, and capable of embodying Ihsan in both personal and social life.
