Abstract

Abstract

This study explores how consumer skepticism and message engagement influence purchase intention in cause-related marketing (CRM) campaigns through the framework of Construal Level Theory (CLT). Focusing on Almaz Fried Chicken campaigns that emerged during global humanitarian crises, the research examines consumer responses toward its humanitarian themed campaigns. Using a quantitative explanatory method, 100 data were collected from respondents in Surakarta who were familiar with the brand’s campaign. Multiple linear regression analysis was employed to test the effects of skepticism (X₁) and message engagement (X₂) on purchase intention (Y) of Almaz Fried Chicken campaigns. The results show that both skepticism and message engagement significantly and positively affect purchase intention, with skepticism (β = 0.408, p < 0.001) having a stronger impact than message engagement (β = 0.271, p < 0.001). Together, these variables explain 80.01% of the variance in purchase intention. The findings indicate that higher levels of skepticism and engagement reflecting abstract construal thinking lead to more favorable consumer evaluations of CRM messages. Research contributes to the understanding of how psychological distance and moral perception shape consumer responses to Almaz Fried Chicken social campaigns.

Abstract

Abstract

This study examines the transformation of the digital communication strategy of the National Police of the Republic of Indonesia (Polri) in dealing with fluctuating public opinion dynamics in the era of information disruption. In the midst of the phenomenon of viral-based justice, the legitimacy of law enforcement institutions increasingly depends on the speed and accuracy of responses to issues. Using the conceptual framework of reputation management and crisis communication, this study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the social media monitoring system implemented by the Public Relations Division of the National Police and formulate a more adaptive strategy model. Through a descriptive qualitative approach, data was collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and documentation studies to map the ongoing public communication workflow. The findings of the study reveal that the current monitoring mechanism is still dominated by manual and partial data collection, which has implications for communication response patterns that tend to be reactive—waiting for issues to peak before being mitigated. The study identified a significant gap between the volume of social media big data and conventional information processing capacity. As a strategic solution, this study recommends the integration of advanced analytical technologies, especially Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Machine Learning, into the National Police's communication ecosystem. This integration is expected to transform the communication paradigm from simply responding to crises to detecting potential crises early (pre-crisis), enabling proactive, measurable, and evidence-based decision-making to maintain public trust.

Abstract

In the midst of an era of information disruption, the legitimacy of police institutions is no longer simply determined by legal authority, but by its ability to win public trust in the digital space. This research highlights the urgency of transforming the communication strategy of the Public Relations Division of the National Police through the Tribrata News ecosystem which is now integrated with PoliceTube and Smart Public Relations. Based on Dialogic Communication Theory and the concept of Computer-Mediated Communication, this study criticizes the shift in the communication paradigm of the National Police from a bureaucratic-monologue model to a humanist-dialogical model. Using a descriptive qualitative method with a digital case study approach, this study dissects how the integration of news channels, visual storytelling, and instant messaging services works as a communication orchestra to break down the hierarchical barriers between officials and citizens. The findings of the study show that the "One Message, Three Channels" strategy has succeeded in changing the digital face of the National Police to be more serving and responsive. PoliceTube plays a role in deconstructing rigid imagery through an empathetic visual narrative, while Smart Public Relations bridges the need for real-time access transparency. This study concludes that digitalization in the National Police is not just a modernization of tools, but a cultural revolution from a "command" mentality to a "guardianship". Although HR competency challenges are still identified, this integrated communication model has proven effective in building authentic public engagement. This study recommends the need to strengthen digital ethics and empathy in every machine-human interaction to maintain the sustainability of public trust.

Abstract

The Indonesian National Police (Polri) faces significant challenges in maintaining public trust within a rapidly evolving digital landscape, where negative sentiments can escalate quickly. This study investigates Multipool, an innovative communication system driven by Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Robotic Process Automation (RPA), as a strategic response to reconstruct institutional legitimacy. Grounded in Institutional Communication Theory and Networked Agenda Setting Theory, this research analyzes how automation facilitates message consistency and strategic discourse management. Adopting a qualitative descriptive-evaluative approach, the study examines 31,491 articles generated across 34 regional police headquarters (Polda) between March and May 2025, alongside sentiment data from the Micro Issue Collection (MIC) feature. The findings demonstrate that Multipool operates as a dual-mechanism system: (1) internally, it orchestrates narrative coherence across disparate regional units, ensuring a unified institutional voice; and (2) externally, it functions as a networked agenda-setter that proactively navigates public opinion by saturating digital channels with verified, solution-oriented content. Analysis reveals a predominance of neutral (80.8%) and positive (18.5%) sentiments, indicating successful image stabilization, although a significant digital divide persists between western and eastern regions. The study concludes that Multipool serves not only as a dissemination tool but as a strategic early warning system. This research contributes to strategic communication literature by conceptualizing "algorithmic legitimacy," arguing that modern state institutions must transition from hierarchical authorities to interpretative actors that secure trust through real-time, data-driven responsiveness and consistent digital presence.

Abstract

The development of the Borobudur National Tourism Strategic Area (NTSA) has been designated as a national priority within Indonesia’s 2020–2025 development agenda, emphasizing sustainable tourism governance and community participation in addition to infrastructure and destination promotion. In this framework, development communication functions as a strategic mechanism to connect stakeholders, enhance institutional coordination, and empower local communities. This study examines the role of development communication in shaping participatory tourism governance in national strategic areas, with Borobudur serving as an analytical reference. This research employed a systematic literature review (SLR) guided by the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) 2020 framework. A structured search of peer-reviewed Scopus-indexed journal articles published within the last five years identified 91 records. After screening, eligibility assessment, and relevance evaluation, 12 articles were selected for in-depth synthesis. Government regulations and foundational theoretical works were also reviewed to contextualize the analysis. The selected studies were examined using thematic analysis to identify dominant themes, conceptual approaches, and governance patterns. The findings indicate that participatory communication practices, institutional transparency, and multi-stakeholder collaboration significantly influence community engagement in tourism governance. However, sectoral fragmentation, unequal power relations, and limited adaptive communication models remain persistent barriers. This study underscores development communication as a governance instrument that mediates institutional interaction and community empowerment in strategic tourism development contexts.

Abstract

This research investigates the communication strategies utilized by Pokdarwis Songgokerto to rehabilitate the reputation of the stigmatized Songgoriti tourist area in Batu City, Indonesia. It is based on the recognition that a destination's image strongly shapes tourist perceptions and visit choices, with negative stigmas enduring even after real improvements. Adopting a qualitative descriptive method, data were gathered via in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document review from key informants such as Pokdarwis members, local residents, tourism entrepreneurs, and officials. The results show that Songgoriti's negative reputation, primarily tied to hidden prostitution, has solidified as a socially constructed and entrenched stigma, amplified by media portrayals and communal recollections. Pokdarwis Songgokerto counters this through a community-oriented communication approach that rebuilds social interpretations via routine interactions, eschewing outright image refutation. This involves elevating hospitality, refining service standards, and crafting positive visitor encounters to stimulate natural word of mouth promotion. The research underscores communication as a social practice woven into daily routines, positioning communities as dynamic creators of emerging narratives. This method resonates with remedial strategies in image restoration theory, highlighting the roles of credibility, consistency, and communal involvement. Despite hurdles like stakeholder opposition and limited policy backing, it proves effective in progressively reshaping views. In essence, reviving a stigmatized destination's image demands sustained, experiential, and inclusive communication endeavors.
