Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic caused learning to be done with an online system. Although much of the current literature recognizes the ability of the Internet as a medium of learning, less is known about students' self-confidence to use the Web, especially those who take part in online learning. This research is intended to understand students' abilities when using the Internet toward online information seeking. This study considers Self-Efficacy and Information Seeking Theory of online learning to examine influences of self-efficacy on behaviour toward online information seeking. Particularly, information seeking behaviour are explored as the consequences of belief in their capabilities to organize and execute the online learning. Data were collected through a quantitative study applying online questionnaire carried out in 2022, using a representative sample (N=58). Findings showed self-efficay has a strong correlation with information seeking behaviour. Self-efficacy also has a significant influence on information seeking behaviour. If self-efficacy increase, then information seeking behaviour will increase. The findings has contributed to the evolving of the Self-Efficacy and Information Seeking Theory, particularly in online learning in developing contries like Indonesia. This study provides implications to e-learning, educators, colleges, government and website system developers of online learning sites dealing with education.

Abstract

One of the communication strategies that instills a person's positive perception to the public is to do a personal branding. The presence of TikTok has the function of being able to make a digital marketing strategy and build a brand, with TikTok being able to influence the behavior of its followers. One of them is the TikTok celebrity Melinda Rohita, also known as Meyden, who is famous because her personality is considered fun and entertaining. This research method used is descriptive qualitative by focusing on research case studies, namely knowing the form of Melinda Rohita's personal branding through her Tiktok social media account @imeyhou. Supported by eight main concepts of Peter Montoya's personal branding. The results of her research show that Melinda Rohita's personal branding fulfills the eight main concepts, namely specialization, leadership, personality, difference, visibility, unity, firmness and good name. With a distinctive and strong character in forming personal branding as a smart, fun, and entertaining teenager. Not only that, by using the TikTok application which has completed various special features with various decorations when making videos, then uploading them to the TikTok media account. So that the @imeyhou account utilizes three supporting elements provided by TikTok, namely: live TikTok, TikTok shop, and popular.

Abstract

The tragedy at Kanjuruhan Stadium in Malang has become a black record in domestic football matches. This tragedy claimed hundreds of lives, including women and children. This dark incident became the spotlight of various media, both media in Indonesia and foreign media. The editorial team of SEA Today News is concerned about the coverage of this tragedy, considering that football is a very popular sport in Indonesia. The purpose of this study was to find out the editorial policy gatekeeping that SEA Today News did in broadcasting the Kanjuruhan Tragedy. This researcher uses a case study method with a qualitative approach. The data collection technique used by the author is moderate participatory observation, where the writer has a balance between being an insider and an outsider, participating in some activities but not all. Besides that, structured interviews are used because the writer knows for sure what information will be obtained. In analyzing the editorial policy of SEA Today regarding the reporting of the Kanjuruhan Tragedy, the author uses the stages of the gatekeeping process by Shoemaker and Reese. The results of this study indicate that the gatekeeping process for the publication of the Kanjuruhan by the editorial staff of SEA Today begins with the selection of angles, script writing, selection of footage and sources determined by the program producers.

Abstract

The existence identification of local television as the mainstream media in cultural conservation education that did not apply systemic and scientific program evaluation is problematic which had implications for hampering the level of program progressivity, local television stations, and fulfilling the rights of local communities to obtain information with higher quality content. The purpose of this study was to design a draft evaluation for local television programs specifically for the Warta Citizen Journalism program at Television Ruai Pontianak used the CSE-UCLA evaluation model. This research used the Research and Development (RD) method. The result of the research was the production of a local television program evaluation draft consisting of a general detailed narrative of the program referring to the CSE UCLA evaluation component namely system assessment, planning, implementation, implementation, development and program certification as evaluation material that can be used by assessors given authority by the party. company, in addition to involving other information deemed relevant. This study also produced an assessment instrument in the form of an evaluation questionnaire specially designed for assessors who are representative parties in all entities related to broadcasting, starting from educators, cultural figures, indigenous peoples, viewers and non-viewers of Ruai TV, to civil society in carrying out the assessment. critical and objective.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the video content of the public service advertisement (PSA) for the covid-19 vaccine of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia uploaded on YouTube. A quantitative approach using the content analysis method was used in this study to describe message content based on the concept of educational messages from the development communication theory, communication, information and education model. The research object consists of 3 (three) videos with a 30 seconds each duration and 64 scenes. The analysis was carried out by coding educational messages consisting of verbal and nonverbal messages by 2 coders. The results showed that the PSA video covid 19 vaccine of Indonesian Ministry of Health's contains educational messages with dominant elements of encouraging learning for lyrical and written for verbal messages, while nonverbal educational messages of music and expression are dominated by elements of attitude formation. Construct validity is used to guarantee measuring instruments by deriving the theory of health communication into a concept of verbal and nonverbal messages with interactive, encouraging learning, forming attitudes, and strengthening experiences indicators, while the intercoder reliability test is carried out using the Scott formula with a result of 1 for verbal messages because there is no difference in coding between coders, while the reliability level for nonverbal messages is 0.97 with there differences in coding between coders on the elements of action and expression.

Abstract

This study is aim for map communication network formed when Holywings company got Public Relation Crisis during their product campaign using Muhammad Maria in Social Media Twitter. This issue have been considered by community as a religious blasphemy. This research aim to determine actors who control the information in this issue which lead actors can influence audience’s sentiment in the issue itself. This actors will create a cluster who will affect Holywings corporate image in Public Relations theory. Researchers used a quantitative research methods with a descriptive approach in conducting this research. This research use NodeXL as software for data mining and data analysis for find metrics and actors inside the network. This method used since conversation in internet era cannot analyzed in tradisional technique. Based on analysis that has been done there are 3 main actors @imanlagi, @catchmeupid dan @knpiharis. In communication network there are 3 main clusters created.

Abstract

Communication is a human activity to mutually understand or understand a message between the communicator and the communicant. In this world every human being involved in communication. Since they existed, communication is an activity that has been carried out by humans. This study aims to analyze communication, motivation and organizational culture on organizational performance. The type of research used in this research is quantitative. The population and sample of this study used a non-probability sampling technique with a saturated sampling method, where all members of the population were used as samples. Data was collected using a questionnaire method using validity, reliability, normality test, heteroscedasticity test, multicollinearity test and hypothesis testing (t test). The final result of this study shows that there is a correlation between all variables X and Y has a strong relationship, based on the results of hypothesis testing, it shows a positive and significant influence caused by communication, motivation and culture on organizational performance of the South Sumatra Muhammadiyah Student Association for the period 2021-2023.

Abstract

The use of public opinion space through the digitalization of virtual democracy has been widely relied on by political parties in conducting political marekting and political communication, especially online-based campaigns. This study aims to find out how political parties' efforts in utilizing virtual democracies in increasing the quantity of potential voters. Descriptive qualitative research method to examine certain events as a new phenomenon in order to answer precisely about the object being observed, assessed and intervened in a complex multi-component using secondary data and literature studies. The results showed that the practices for running a digital democracy are no longer conventional, but through digital media and virtual political spaces. So that digital democracy shows the central position and role of digital parties in Indonesia. The use of virtual democracy provides a strong potential by seeing the large number of people who have begun to participate in online social media, so that virtual democracy feels great benefits as a new channel in the public opinion space to find political news, discuss, organize and to mobilize supporters of one of the political parties it likes

Abstract

The purpose of research is to know the cultural ethnic cohesiveness in the conformity of local wisdom, a study of social construction and management of intercultural communication among Chinese citizens in Bogor Regency. By using qualitative descriptive method and analysis, the several findings were obtained. First, in the Chinese Village of Inkopad-Inkopol, West Bogor, the cultural cohesiveness has been initiated since the colonial era, through a family approach. The conformity of local wisdom is shown by the involvement of ethnic Chinese in "abangan" Islamic worship. Second, in the Chinese Community Housing Cinere Depok, the cohesiveness is more visible on the socio-economic side. When the Chinese community shows their simplicity of living in a rural village, there is an interaction of closeness and togetherness. There is a kind of inclusiveness. The local cultural conformity is shown through the mixed of Chinese citizens in supporting social and cultural activities. Third, at the Wihara Amurwa Bhumi Cibinong, Chinese Ethnic Communication Forum, the Chinese are more dominant in showing their organizational character and ancestral culture that they continue to fight for. The cultural cohesiveness occured precisely in an exclusivity strategy. As a result, the exclusivity gave birth to uniqueness, which turned out to be a kind of tourist attraction for the surrounding community. This area is actually very well known for its ethnic performances.

Abstract

The use of social media is  increasingly growing among the wider community, especially among children. The presence of social media can certainly have positive and negative impacts. This is what is worth paying attention to because the use of social media is widely used by children for various needs that have an impact on themselves. Not only that,family communication also greatly influences children’s behavior and attitudes in terms of good or bad, such as behavior that hurts other people or can be called cyber bullying behavior. The aim of this research is to determine the use of social media and family communication on cyber bullying behavior in children . the researcher used a quantitative method which will be carried out on 128 respondents who are elementary school children in Sidoarjo sub-district which has been carried out in two schools , namely SDN 1 celep Sidoarjo and SD cendekia Sidoarjo with each school taking classes 5 and 6 and analyzed by validity, reability and multiple linear regression tests using SPSS. The results showed that the use of social media by 8,92% and family communication by 60,40% had a significant effect on cyberbullying behavior in children.
