Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has brought about significant changes in the field of education, with traditional face-to-face learning transitioning to online instruction, resulting in a one-directional and monotonous learning experience that can lead to feelings of boredom. Boredom, which is an unsatisfactory state, can be counteracted by the positive individual characteristic of mindfulness. This study aims to explore the relationship between mindfulness and boredom in students who are attending online classes. A correlational quantitative approach was used in this study, employing a convenience sampling technique that resulted in a sample size of 346 students, consisting of 73 males and 273 females. Individual mindfulness was measured using the Mindful Attention Awareness Scale (MAAS) (α = 0.859), while boredom was measured using the Multidimensional State Boredom Scale (MSBS) (α = 0.953). The study revealed that there was a significant negative correlation between mindfulness and boredom (r = -0.295; p = 0.001). Furthermore, mindfulness was found to be significantly negatively correlated with four of the five dimensions of boredom, namely disengagement, high arousal, inattention, and low arousal (r = -0.239, r = -0.339, r = -0.321, r = -0.280). These findings suggest that individuals who exhibit higher levels of mindfulness are less likely to experience boredom. Therefore, the study concludes that mindfulness can help individuals regulate their attention and emotions, thereby mitigating the harmful effects of boredom.

The subjects were males and females aged 20 to 27, selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, and analyzed using the interactive model of analysis technique. The results of the study showed that all four subjects were able to achieve post-traumatic growth.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between self-control in the use of social media with academic procrastination for final-year students at one of private universities in Surakarta. The selection of 104 subjects of this study used a purposive sampling technique with the criteria of students who were taking thesis lectures at one of private universities in Surakarta and had social media. This study uses a quantitative correlation approach with hypothesis testing using Pearson's product moment correlation. Based on the data analysis, the p value <0.05 is 0,000, which means that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. So it can be said that there is a relationship between self-control in the use of social media with procrastination to do the final project for students at one of private universities in Surakarta. The results of the correlation coefficient (R) are known to be -0,626, which means that the strength of the correlation between self-control behavior and procrastination on students' final assignments can be said to be strong with a negative correlation direction.

Abstract

The protection of children from sexual abuse, both within the family and society, is a fundamental right that must be guaranteed. The phenomenon of domestic sexual violence committed by family members indicates a lack of protection and security for children to grow and develop. The impact of such experiences can be detrimental to a child's development in the present and potentially dangerous in the future. This study aims to comprehensively describe the impact of domestic sexual violence and to discuss inhibiting and supportive factors in the recovery process. A qualitative phenomenological method with an Interpretative Phenomenology Analysis (IPA) approach was used in this study. The researcher conducted semi-structured interviews with an epoche attitude as the basis for answering the research objectives. Participants were purposively selected, and two female participants aged 10-19 years who experienced sexual violence by family members were obtained. The study found that there are psychological impacts that disrupt adolescent development in cognitive, emotional, physical, and social aspects. Additionally, there are post-traumatic symptoms, social factors that worsen the impact of sexual violence, and supportive factors that aid in the recovery process. The study also discovered a new finding: the lack of sexual education and power relations as contributing factors to domestic sexual violence.

Abstract

The role of a teacher encompasses many tasks, which can sometimes diminish the significance of their work and ultimately affect their performance and the quality of education they provide. To enhance the meaningfulness of their work, teachers can engage in job crafting, which involves proactively balancing task demands with available resources. This study aims to explore the correlation between job crafting and work meaningfulness among secondary school teachers in Banda Aceh. The study surveyed 273 secondary school teachers in Banda Aceh who had at least 10 years of work experience, selected through convenience sampling. The study employed quantitative methods with a correlational approach. The findings revealed a positive and significant relationship between job crafting and work meaningfulness. By engaging in job crafting, teachers can customize their work to their preferences and increase their sense of work meaningfulness. This, in turn, can have a positive impact on their performance and the quality of education they provide.

Abstract

In Indonesia, the Phi generation has a reputation for being disloyal employees who quickly leave their jobs. However, this generation is becoming the dominant population in Indonesia and is starting to fill the job market. This phenomenon raises questions for researchers about the psychological resilience or hardiness of this generation. The study surveyed 156 employees born between 1989-2000 who worked in various private and state-owned companies. The DRS-II scale (18 items, α = 0.82) and additional questions were used to collect data. Results showed that 21.2% of participants had very high hardiness, 52.6% had high hardiness, 24.4% had moderate hardiness, and 1.9% had low hardiness. Members of this generation generally did not show any differences in average hardiness in several demographic categories, except for the position level group. The control dimension had the highest mean score, which participants attributed to their strategies for managing time, work, and priorities.

Abstract

Mental health concerns are a significant issue worldwide, and Indonesia is no exception. In Indonesia, approximately 15.5 million teenagers (34.9%) experience mental health problems, with anxiety disorders being the most prevalent. The lack of green spaces in urban areas and high work demands prevent young people from connecting with nature. Furthermore, urban life is practical, and many teenagers prefer indoor activities with technological entertainment, which further reduces their exposure to nature. To investigate the relationship between nature-relatedness and anxiety in the urban young generation, a research study was conducted. The study employed a quantitative-correlational research method and utilized the Nature Relatedness Scale and State-Trait Inventory for Cognitive and Somatic Anxiety (STICSA) to measure the participants. 93 participants met the participant’s criteria and completed the questionnaire, and the data was analyzed using the Product Moment correlation technique. The research findings indicate that there is no correlation between nature-relatedness and anxiety. Researchers speculate that nature-relatedness primarily benefits individuals by increasing positive emotions rather than reducing negative emotional states such as depression. However, urban residents can still enjoy nature through artificial environments, such as visiting green parks and observing sky views. The availability of artificial environments enables urban communities to remain close to nature without experiencing anxiety.
