Abstract

Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) serves a critical function in maintaining maritime safety and regulating ship traffic order, particularly in congested waterways such as Surabaya's West Shipping Channel. This system is designed to facilitate organized vessel movements, thereby minimizing accident risks and regulatory violations. However, the effectiveness of VTS in supporting the monitoring of ship movement order and berthing areas requires further investigation. This study analyzes the effectiveness of Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) in supporting the monitoring of ship movement order and berthing areas within Surabaya's West Shipping Channel. The research employs a quantitative methodology utilizing simple linear regression analysis. Data collection was conducted through observation and secondary data analysis, subsequently processed using SPSS 22 software. The findings demonstrate that VTS effectiveness significantly influences order monitoring, with a significance value of 0.001 (p < 0.05). The coefficient of determination indicates a value of 29.1%, signifying that VTS effectiveness contributes to the orderliness of ship movements and berthing areas. The regression equation reveals that each unit increase in VTS effectiveness results in a 0.470 unit improvement in order monitoring.

Abstract

The Maritime Academy (STIP) is adapting to the Fourth Industrial Revolution through the implementation of a web-based Academic Information System (SIAKAD). This system replaces the manual approach to managing data on students, faculty, courses, and final grades. STIP serves as an example of a public university that leverages technology to improve the efficiency and accessibility of academic data. The research method used was the waterfall method, which includes the stages of requirements analysis, system design, implementation, testing, and operation and maintenance. The results of the study demonstrate the effectiveness of SIAKAD in managing academic data, providing speed and convenience in accessing information such as class schedules, attendance records, and grades. The use of the waterfall method—combined with use-case-based design, CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) and JavaScript interfaces, and the PHP programming language—makes SIAKAD an effective solution for addressing data processing challenges. This system not only simplifies data retrieval for faculty members but also provides easily accessible information for students at STIP.

Abstract

To achieve this success, companies have production factors such as human resources, capital, raw materials and machines. However, compared to other company-specific factors, it is the human resource factor that makes the biggest or main contribution to the success of a company. Analyzing the coefficient of determination (Kd) obtained a coefficient of determination of 55.2%, which means work motivation (variable) is part of the author's analysis in the research. We analyzed the correlation coefficient (r) and found that the correlation coefficient r = 0.74. These results mean that the work incentives provided by a company are closely related to employee performance. If the correlation results are positive, it means the relationship is in the same direction, and when motivation decreases, employee performance also decreases. High work motivation encourages employees to work as best as possible according to the company's plans, thus supporting the company's survival.

Abstract

This qualitative study examines the effectiveness of sustainability integration in maritime vocational education through the perspectives of experienced professionals and recent graduates. Using semi-structured interviews with ten participants (five maritime industry experts and five recent graduates), the research investigates transdisciplinary competency development and educational-professional alignment within sustainability contexts. Thematic analysis reveals moderate effectiveness in current educational approaches, with a Professional Competency Integration Index (PCII) of 6.4 and an Educational-Professional Alignment Coefficient (EPAC) of 6.1 out of 10. While participants demonstrate strong theoretical foundations in environmental knowledge, significant gaps exist in practical integration skills, stakeholder engagement, and economic analysis capabilities. Both cohorts recognize the critical importance of sustainability integration but diverge in their assessment of educational adequacy: experienced professionals emphasize practical implementation challenges, while graduates focus on theoretical enhancement needs. The research identifies industry-education partnerships, transdisciplinary pedagogical approaches, and continuing education as critical factors for improving professional preparedness. Findings indicate that effective sustainability education requires the systematic integration of theoretical knowledge with practical application opportunities, supported by enhanced faculty development and comprehensive industry collaboration. The study provides evidence-based recommendations for maritime education transformation to address urgent environmental and regulatory pressures while supporting broader sustainability goals.
