Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic metabolic disease that requires medical care and self-management to prevent complications of diabetic ulcers. The Buerger Allen Exercise is a specific exercise that aims to increase circulation to the legs by using changes in gravity and using muscle contraction through active movements of the legs to increase circulation of peripheral blood vessels. The Inlow's 60-second Diabetic Foot Screen Tool is an indicator for assessing the risk of foot injuries. This study aims to determine the effect of Buerger Allen Exercise on the risk of foot injuries in patients with diabetes mellitus type 2 at Masbagik Health Center. The research design used a pre-experimental design with a one group pretest-posttest design. The sampling technique was purposive sampling with a sample of 18 respondents who met the inclusion criteria. Data analysis used univariate and bivariate analysis. The mean value of the risk of foot ulcers in diabetes mellitus respondents before the intervention was 9.00 with a standard deviation of 1.328 and after the intervention the mean value was 8.54 with a standard deviation of 1.286. The results of the Wilcoxon test show a p value: 0.000 which means that there is an effect of Buerger Allen Exercise on the risk of foot injuries in patients with diabetes mellitus type 2 and is hoped that the Buerger Allen Exercise intervention can be applied as an effort to prevent complications of diabetic foot ulcers in patients with DM type 2. Abstract

Type II Diabetes Mellitus (DMT-2) is a global disease characterized by blood glucose instability. With 537 million cases as of 2023 and a prevalence that continues to rise each year, DMT-2 has become the ninth leading cause of non-communicable disease-related deaths worldwide. The success of DMT-2 treatment is seen through the adherence to medication by those affected. One of the factors influencing medication adherence in DMT-2 patients is predisposition, such as medication beliefs and cost-related factors. In Indonesia, a solution to these cost-related concerns is provided through the Social Security Organizing Body (BPJS) as a form of health insurance. Medication beliefs are a critical factor in the management of medication adherence in DMT-2  patients to prevent complications and reduce mortality rates resulting from DMT-2. This research aims to determine the relationship between medication beliefs and medication adherence in DMT-2  patients covered by BPJS in the Jatinegara Sub-district Primary Health Care Centers (Puskesmas) area. The study is quantitative in nature with a cross-sectional approach conducted on 134 respondents using the Belief about Medicines Questionnaire (BMQ) and the Morisky Medication Adherence Scale-8 (MMAS-8) as measurement tools. The research results show that 61.2% of respondents have negative medication beliefs, while 38.8% have positive medication beliefs. Among the respondents, 78.4% exhibit low medication adherence, 17.2% have moderate adherence, and 4.5% have high adherence levels. The analysis using the Spearman Correlation Test indicates a significant relationship between the two variables (p<0.05), with a positive direction and a moderate degree of correlation (r=0.409). The conclusion drawn from this research is that as individuals have more positive medication beliefs, their medication adherence levels also increase.

Abstract

Breast cancer and its treatment cause serious psychological problems in patients, such as low self-esteem and feelings of pride, anxiety, even depression and not being ready to accept the condition of the disease they are currently experiencing. Breast cancer patients with low self-acceptance tend to experience feelings of depression, body image disturbances and decreased quality of life. Quality of life can be an important parameter in assessing how well a person functions after being diagnosed and undergoing treatment therapy. The purpose of this study was to examine the correlation of self-acceptance with the quality of life of breast cancer patients. This research is a descriptive research with cross sectional method. Consecutive sampling is a sampling technique in this study with a total sample of 74 breast cancer patients treated at Prof. Dr. R.D Kandou Hospitals. The measuring tools used are the Acceptance of Illness Scale questionnaire to assess patient self-acceptance and the EORTC QLQ C-30 to assess patient quality of life. Univariate data analysis in the form of descriptive statistics and bivariate data analysis using the Spearman test. The research results showed that more than half, namely 51.4% of breast cancer patients had moderate self-acceptance and almost all, namely 91.9% of breast cancer patients, had moderate quality of life. Based on the Spearman statistical test, it shows that self-acceptance is correlated with the quality of life of breast cancer patients (p < 0.05). Better self-acceptance also improves the quality of life of breast cancer patients. Self-acceptance and quality of life for breast cancer patients need to be improved. This aims to make patients enthusiastic about undergoing therapy programs and have high motivation to recover.

Abstract

Stress has both positive and negative effects on nurses. Changes in the hospital's management and systems necessitate nurses to adjust to the hospital's new policies, work culture, and environment, which can be stressful. In addition, nurses’ workloads may be impacted during the change and transition, increasing their stress levels. This study aimed to describe the stress levels of head nurses and nursing staff during a hospital’s transitional period. The research employed a quantitative descriptive cross-sectional design. This study used a purposive sampling method, recruiting 44 registered nurses. Inclusion criteria were those who have worked for at least one year under the current management system. Utilizing the Indonesian version of the Bianchi Stress Questionnaire, this study measured levels of work-related stress (Alpha Cronbach 0,974). This study was conducted midway through 2019. A descriptive statistic is used to measure the nurses’ level of stress. The results of this study, 37.5 percent of head nurses (n=16) experienced mild stress and severe stress during the transition period, with personnel management (M = 3.8; SD = 1.99) and unit management (M = 3.8; SD = 1.97) being the most intense stressors. In addition, 53.58 percent of nursing staff experienced severe stress, with interpersonal relationships constituting the most intense stressor (M = 4.48, SD = 1.35). Despite stress from various subscales, this study provides evidence that during the transition period, head nurses and nursing staff can experience mild to severe stress levels, and the recommendation for future research is to investigate the contributing factors of stress in nurses.

Abstract

COVID-19 vaccination has been proven effective in overcoming SARS-CoV-2 transmission globally. However, public perception of vaccination initiation still reflects significant variation among vulnerable populations such as pregnant women. This study aims to identify the relationship between a history of SARS-CoV-2 infection and pregnant women's perceptions of the COVID-19 vaccine in Bekasi. A cross-sectional design was applied in this study. The convenience sampling method was used to recruit prospective pregnant women as respondents with a total of 330 respondents. This study used the Perception Questionnaire about COVID-19 Vaccine as an instrument to assess respondents' perceptions. The Spearman Correlation test results showed a value of r=-0.332 with a p-value <0.0001, indicating that there was a significant relationship between a history of SARS-CoV-2 infection and pregnant women's perceptions regarding COVID-19 immunization. The value r=-0.332 indicated the strength of the relationship was moderate, with the direction of the relationship being inversely proportional, indicated by a minus (-) value for r. This means that the more pregnant women have been diagnosed positive for COVID-19, the more negative the mother's perception of giving the COVID-19 vaccine to pregnant women. Conversely, the less the mother's history of contracting COVID-19, the more positive their perception of the COVID-19 vaccine. The role of nurses is needed to educate proactively by starting discussions about vaccines with patients, peer group sharing, and making contracts for vaccination. A quasi-experimental research design is recommended for further research, specifically to test the effectiveness of the intervention program chosen to be implemented in the population of pregnant women.
