Abstract

Hemoglobin is a component of red blood cells or erythrocytes which functions to bind oxygen and deliver it to all the body's tissue cells. One of the health problems that develop in pregnant women is low hemoglobin (Hb) levels. Anemia is the main cause of morbidity and death in pregnant women. Anemia during pregnancy is defined as a hemoglobin level lower than 10 g/dl. Knowledge of pregnant women about anemia is one of the factors that play a role in the incidence of iron deficiency anemia in pregnant women. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of health education using booklet media about the importance of hemoglobin levels to increase knowledge in pregnant women on knowledge before and after being given health education. This type of research is a quantitative study with a pre-experimental design through one group pre-post test design. The population of this study were all pregnant women in the first, second, and third trimesters. The research sample is 60 samples with purposive sampling technique. Data collection used a knowledge questionnaire about the importance of hemoglobin levels which had been tested for validity with a result of 0.444 and reliability with a result of 0.890 by researchers. The results of the research were carried out by the Kolmogrov-Smirnov normality test first, then the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test was carried out. Based on the research results, it was obtained the results of hypothesis testing with a significance value of p-value 0.000 <0.05 so it can be concluded that there is an effect of health education using booklet media about the importance of hemoglobin levels to increase knowledge in pregnant women. Keywords: Hemoglobin Level, Anemia in Pregnancy, Health education, Knowledge, Booklet

Abstract

The Planning and Complication Prevention program encourages pregnant women to have their pregnancies, deliveries, postpartum examinations and babies born by skilled health workers, including screening for complete tetanus immunization status in every pregnant woman. If the implementer has a positive attitude and support for implementing the P4K program, the P4K program may run according to the initial plan. The purpose of this study was related to the Implementation of the Childbirth Preparation and Complication Prevention (P4K) Program in Padang City. This research is a qualitative study with a phenomenological design. This research was conducted in the working area of Lubuk Kilangan Health Center, Lubuk Buaya Health Center and Pegambiran Health Center in January - May 2023. The informants in this study were 23 informants, namely five key informants, six main informants, and 12 additional informants. Data collection methods use in-depth interview methods, observation and document review—data validity by triangulating sources, methods and data. The research results obtained on the input component in each component have run well according to the requirements. Only the monitoring and evaluation component is not yet available in the process component. Moreover, the output component has been carried out well despite shortcomings because not all activities run optimally. Research suggestions are expected to increase family participation in implementing P4K, such as counselling and socialization, and increase discipline in following the recommendations of health workers assisted by Community Health Center cadres. Keywords: Component, Monitoring, Planning, Program

Abstract

Measles and rubella have long-term health consequences for an estimated 103,000 babies born with congenital rubella syndrome (CRS). A total of 541 cases of measles were found in districts and cities in West Sumatra with the highest number in the city of Padang in 2022. The aim of the study was to analyze the incidence of measles rubella in the working area of the Belimbing Health Center, Padang City in 2022. The research was conducted using a qualitative approach, the method used in this research are in-depth interviews, observation, and document review. The research was conducted in the Work Area of the Belimbing Health Center, Padang City. Informants consisted of 24 people consisting of 8 health workers, 5 cadres, and 11 mothers with children. The results of this study indicate mothers' knowledge about measles rubella is still not optimal. MR immunization has not reached the target as expected, there are still many parents who do not want to bring their children MR immunization, such as being consumed by HOAX news or gossip circulating about MR immunization, Surveillance in reporting MR cases is always reported every day if there are cases, surveillance officers trace cases and evaluate them, and the results of the report are submitted monthly to the P2P section of the Padang City Health Office. Most children suffer from measles because they get it from their playmates at school. The implication of this research is as an illustration of Incidence Of Rubella Measles In The Working Area Of The Belimbing Health Center, Padang City In 2022. Keywords:  Health Center, Infection Disease, Measles, Padang City, Rubella

Abstract

Streptococcus is one of the dominant bacteria in the oral cavity. This bacteria is the bacteria that causes dental caries. Toothpaste containing fluoride is important for preventing tooth decay. Using fluoride toothpaste creates a dilemma because it can cause side effects in the form of fluorosis if used in concentrations that are not recommended. However, there is an alternative way, namely by using toothpaste which contains essential oils and plant extracts. The type of research used is the experimental method. The research was conducted at the pharmaceutical laboratory of the Health Polytechnic of the Ministry of Health Medan and the Microbiology laboratory of the University of North Sumatra Hospital, which was carried out from May to July 2023. The samples in this study were dental plaque taken from 30 respondents pre and post intervention application of 12.5% cinnamon bark ethanol extract toothpaste. The data obtained will be analyzed statistically using the non-parametric Wilcoxon test and the parametric Pair T-Test. The results showed that toothpaste with cinnamon bark ethanol extract with a concentration of 12.5% had significant antibacterial activity in inhibiting the growth of Streptococcus bacteria with a p value <0.05. This toothpaste is able to significantly reduce the number of bacterial colonies found in dental plaque in all bacterial groups. It is hoped that these results will provide information to the public that the ethanol extract of cinnamon bark can be used as an active ingredient in toothpaste. Keywords:  Antibacterial,  Cinnamon bark,  Streptococcus, Toothpaste
