Abstract

Cancer is the most common chronic disease worldwide, with cervical cancer, breast cancer, ovarian cancer, and skin cancer being the most prevalent. Breast cancer ranks second globally after lung cancer. Patients diagnosed with breast cancer undergo changes in their physical, sexual, social, and daily life activities, affecting their overall life quality. One crucial factor that can enhance the life quality for patients is the support from their families, which is a pivotal determinant for individual well-being. To determine the differences in the life quality among breast cancer patients with high and low family support and to analyze the correlation between family support and the breast cancer patients life quality. This study employed a quantitative analytic survey with a cross-sectional design. The research was conducted at Haji Adam Malik Central General Hospital from August to October 2023. The study population included all stage I and II breast cancer patients, totaling 205 outpatient individuals from March to April 2022, with a sample size of 66. Simple random sampling was utilized for participant selection. Data collection involved questionnaire interviews. Data analysis comprised two steps: first, univariate analysis using descriptive and frequency statistics, and second, bivariate analysis using Pearson's test and independent t-test with a significance level of 95% (p-value ≤ 0.05). Statistical results indicated a significant difference in the life quality between breast cancer patients with high and low family support (p=0.037). It was concluded that there is a significantive correlation between family support and the breast cancer patients life quality (p=0.001; r=-0.644). Family support is crucial for patients facing chronic diseases such as breast cancer. It is recommended that families strive to enhance their support to ensure patients' comfort during treatment and therapy programs, ultimately improving the breast cancer patients life quality.  Keyword: Breast Cancer, Family, Life Quality

Data collection methods were in-depth interviews and observation. The informants in this research were 15 people consisting of the main informant and supporting informants. Data analysis using NVivo Software. The results of this research are that there are good practices characterized by local wisdom in efforts to reduce the acceleration of stunting cases in the form of jargon/slogans such as JAS BERKAH, Safari Subuh, and the Declaration of Stunting Free Villages. The roles of stakeholders consisting of facilitators, coordinators, accelerators, evaluators, and policy creators have been placed by the functions and roles of the Stunting Reduction Acceleration Team. The role of stakeholders related to the convergence action plan can be mapped into three scenarios, namely the role of the chairman in convergence actions 1 and 2, and the role of the regional secretary in convergence actions 2, 4, and 5. Meanwhile, the role of technical agencies focuses on convergence actions 4, 5, 6, 7, and action 8. The research method used a case-control unmatching design.  The study subjects were aged 30-50 years consisting of 65 DM cases and 65 non-DM as controls. Data analysis was carried out univariate, bivariate, and multivariate with SPSS software using multiple logistic regression tests. The results showed that there was an effect between overweight (p=0.014), carbohydrate intake (p= 0.013), and fat intake (p= 0.032) on the incidence of type 2 DM. Multivariate analysis shows that carbohydrate intake is the most influential variable in the incidence of type 2 DM with an Odds Ratio value of 5.696.   It is recommended for the community to carry out a healthy lifestyle by maintaining a diet, and an ideal weight, and exercising regularly. Abstract

Pregnancy is an important period for a mother to fulfil nutritional needs for herself and for the growth and development of the fetus because fetal nutrition depends on maternal nutrition, so the mother's nutritional needs must also be met. Inadequate energy and protein intake in pregnant women can cause Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED). This research aims to determine the food intake of pregnant women in Bagan Serdang Village Deli Serdang District. The sample was determined by purposive sampling, where pregnant women who became respondents were pregnant women with criteria experienced food insecurity, namely 20 people. Data on food intake was obtained using the 24-hour recall method and personal data through interviews with pregnant women. Data were analyzed by nutrisurvey tools to determine the amount of food intake. Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED) data was measured using an upper arm circumference tape. Data analysis was done descriptively to describe the food intake of pregnant women, including energy, carbohydrate, and protein intake. The results showed that 15% of pregnant women experienced Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED), and 60% of pregnant women's energy intake was still lacking. Intake of carbohydrates and protein still falls short of the nutritional requirements for pregnant women, with 55% and 75% falling into the deficient category, respectively. For pregnant women to avoid Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED), the public health center and cadres must increase their understanding of the importance of balanced nutrition during pregnancy. Keyword: Consumption, Food intake, Food, Pregnant women
