The aim of this study is to analyze the difference of young learners’ vocabulary mastery through Aurasma Augmented Reality (AR). The research was conducted in SDN 1 Jayagiri Lembang and the sample of this study was gained from two classes of sixth grade. One class was treated using AR, while another class was treated without AR in teaching vocabulary. The data were gathered from pre-test and post-test. The result of this study revealed that young learners could improve their vocabulary mastery through augmented reality (AR). It can be inferred that there is a significant difference from students’ pre-test and post-test result. Furthermore, the data from observation displayed a positive attitude during the students’ learning through Aurasma AR. Most of students participated actively in the classroom, they showed high curiosity, and they enjoyed and felt enthusiastic in learning vocabulary.

Teaching writing in foreign language has been an interesting topic for researchers. There are many theories and perspective about teaching writing. The main objective of this research is focused on finding out student’s difficulties in writing English. This study used case study with qualitative design. About 30 students are purposively selected as the respondents of the research. The data in this gained through single data collection method was questionnaire. This questionnaire contains 15 closed items and one open ended item. The result indicates students had a significant problem in writing English. The findings revealed that the most significant problems are because of their lack of vocabulary mastery and language used. They assumed that they had limited knowledge in constructing sentence grammatically and also their lack of vocabulary mastery made them felt confused in choosing the word. Besides, they also had problem in spelling. They often left hesitant in writing English word and assumed their spelling is not good enough.

This study is a CAR. The objective of this study is improve reading comprehension through reciprocal teaching strategy for the ninth grade student. The researcher answered 2 problem questions of research 1) can the use of reciprocal teaching strategy improve the students’ reading comprehension in the 9th grade of MTs At-Taqwa Cihampelas? 2) How far does the use of reciprocal teaching strategy improve the 9th of MTs AT-Taqwa? Design of the research was CAR. It was conducted in 2 cycles. The teacher analyzed the students’ reading comprehension in each cycle. The results showed that (1) the use of reciprocal teaching strategy can enhance students reading comprehension step by step from cycle 1 and 2. It is proved with the students score, the mean score pretest in cycle I 52.57 and the mean of the posttest in cycle I 63.14.The mean of the post-test in cycle II 71.71.the last cycle means score was categorized as good. The improvements in students understanding indicates that reciprocal teaching strategy is effective and applicable when deals with the students’ problem in reading narrative text.Keywords: Reciprocal teaching, reading comprehension, narrative text.

The objectives of this research entitled “Using Semantic Mapping to improve 9th-gradestudents vocabulary mastery in MTs Al-Mubarokah Batujajar in the academic 2016/2017”. Concerning to the problem stated above the purpose of this study is to find out whether the use of semantic mapping. In this research was a quantitative method. The writer will take one class, as experimental. The instrument is pre-test and post-test which is given to both experiment and control class. The population is 60 9th grade students of MTs Al-Mubarokah Batujajar and the sample is 30 students of 9th as experiment class and 30 students of 9th as control class. The data analysis is computed by IBM SPSS Ver.16 using Mann Whitney U test with 0,05 level of significance. The test result showed that the score is 0,036 which less than 0,05 (0,036 < 0,05). Based on the data, it can be concluded that null hypothesis is rejected and the alternative hypothesis is accepted. In other words, there is the significant difference between students’ achievement in experiment and control class which indicates that Semantic Mapping technique can improve students’ Vocabulary Mastery.

The aims of this research is to improve reading comprehension of the eighth-grade students using think-pair-share technique. The researchers applying this technique is to make students actively learn in classthrough pair discussions and sharing information with their friends. The researchers used a classroom action research (CAR) method, this research has been carried out in three cycles to achieve students improvement in reading comprehension. The mean scores of students in the first cycle is 57.60, in the second cycle is 64.67, and in the third cycle is 77.20. The mean scores of the three cycles prove that the think-pair-share technique has succeeded in improving students' reading comprehension of recount text. This study deals with the types of illocutionary acts in “How to train your dragon 2” movie. The research concerns with illocutionary act produced by the main character in “How to train your dragon 2” movie. The aim of this research is to find out the illocutionary acts produce by the main character in the movie. This research applied descriptive qualitative method. There are 333 utterances and the percentages of data were 43.8% of representative, 41.7% of directive, 7.3% of expressive, 6.6% of commissive and 0.6% of declarative. The most dominant type of illocutionary acts found is representative. It shows that the main character tended to convey his utterance for describing states or events in the world that he believed it to be. This finding supported Cutting (2002:17) that representative are act in which the word said what the speaker affirm to be the case or not. It is because what Hiccup tended to say in the movie about statement of fact, assertion, conclusions and descriptions about things. Keywords: Speech act, Illocutionary act, Movie

English is a subject in Indonesian school that learned from junior high school until the universities. Therefore one of importance basic aspects and skills in learning English for students is to understand avariety of English vocabulary. In learning English, vocabulary plays an important role, it means vocabulary is the basic one to mastering all English Skill. This research intended to students at seventh grade of Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs) in Cimahi. And this study aims to determine the benefits of Color Coding technique in improving the ability of English vocabulary. Color Coding is a method that can be used in teaching vocabulary, one of the use of color is to identifying something, it can make the student easy in their learning vocabulary process. The design of this research is Classroom Action Research (CAR). The researcher employed qualitative research design and pre experimental pretest-posttest. Thedata were collected from the result of pretest and posttets. The result of the data showed: Mean of pretest was 63.00, mean of posttest was 82.00, The result also show the score of t-observed was higher than ttable (2.08 > 1.72). It means color coding is effective to improve students’ vocabulary ability.Keywords: Vocabulary, Color Coding Technique, CAR

Abstract Used two or more languages within an utterance or what linguists call code switching, fairly common especially between two of the most languages when speaking in public. The code switching often done by someone when he was talking to someone else or talking in front of the public in particular person who mastery more than one language. Deddy Corbuzier always do code switching when speaking or explain topic particular, so topic submitted more interesting.This study aims to analyze the type of code switching used by Deddy Corbuzier on Hitam Putih program in Trans7 and also describe Deddy Corbuzier do code switching based on the theory of Romaine and Hoffman. The writer also analyze the type and the reason code switching of the most dominant frequently by Deddy Corbuzier.The method in this study the writer uses qualitative descriptive and also use the case study to analyze and describe the type and the reason Deddy Corbuzier do code switching on Hitam Putih program in Trans7.A result of the research was conducted by the author shows Deddy Corbuzier more dominant code switch type of Inter-sentential switching compared other type code switching and the reason for the most dominant Deddy do code switching is quoting somebody else. Advertisement as the tool for communicating and promoting a specific product to the customer brings a new phenomenon on the use of language. Every utterance has the function, from a very simple point of view advertisement is objected to making customer buying their product. Illocutionary act as an action via utterance are able to project the main objective of the advertisement, wheatear this advertisement expressing feeling, representing facts, declaring the point of view, promoting question, and promising goal. This research objects to revile the speech act used in Indonesian shampoo advertisement using qualitative study. This use 84 utterances from 5 brand of shampoo. Those 84 utterances were taken from video ads of 5 shampoo product in Indonesia. As the result, Shampoo ads in Indonesia has % of declarative Speech act, % Commission Speech act, % Representative Speech act, % Expressive Speech act, % Directive Speech act. This result shows that Shampoo product in Indonesia intends to promote their product by declaring their ability in giving the best result for the customer whether it gives a shiner hair, softer hair, stronger hair or others.

This research based paper investigates the students’ vocabulary mastery improvement applying flash cards of which the aims are: (1) finding out whether and to what extent the use of flash cards may improve students' vocabulary and (2) describing the weaknesses and the strengths of implementing flash cards to teach vocabulary. The writer conducted a CAR at the eight grade of a junior high in Cilamaya Kulon, This study was conducted in two cycles and conducted in four steps namely; planning the action, implementing, observing, and reflecting. The data of the research were collected by using quantitative collection of data techniques. The result of the investigation noticed that Flash cards could improve the students’ mastery of vocabulary. It can be identified from the mean score of the test which increase from 56.5 in the pretest to 77.1 in the posttest one and 83.7 in the posttest two. The use of flash cards may attract the students’ attention to the lesson well. It also might improve participation of students in learning. They were not shy anymore and really motivated to attend the instructional process.
