Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of implementing the TGT model assisted by a snake and ladder game on enhancing seventh-grade students' collaborative abilities in algebraic operations material. A comparative method based on a quantitative approach was applied in this research. The research subjects involved 60 students. Research data were collected using collaboration ability questionnaires, activity observation sheets, and documentation. Data analysis techniques included prerequisite tests alongside inferential tests (t-tests and N-Gain analysis). The findings indicate a significant strengthening across all indicators of student collaboration within the experimental class. Based on the Independent Sample t-Test, a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05 was obtained, confirming a highly substantial difference. The N-Gain analysis reinforces these findings, showing that the experimental class achieved an index score of 0.66 (medium), whereas the control class only obtained a score of 0.24, (low). Substantively, the enhancement of students' collaboration skills in this study runs parallel with the development of meaningful mathematical reasoning. Accordingly, the TGT model based on the snake and ladder game proves effective in decentralizing the teacher's dominance and minimizing students' learning obstacles.

Abstract

Mathematical representation ability is a fundamental competency for senior high school students. This study aims to describe students' mathematical representation abilities in deep learning integrated with the Problem-Based Learning model. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, involving 36 Grade XI students at SMAN 4 Malang. Data were collected through written tests based on mathematical representation ability indicators and analyzed across representation: verbal, pictorial, and symbolic. The results reveal uneven abilities across representation types: symbolic representation was most consistently fulfilled, though with varied strategies; pictorial representation was spatially constructed but incomplete in metric annotation; verbal representation exhibited the greatest variation, with only high-ability students capable of articulating contextual geometric conclusions. These findings confirm that symbolic proficiency does not guarantee comprehensive representational competence. This study contributes an empirical profile of students' mathematical representation in a PBL context, serving as a reference for teachers in designing balanced instruction across representation types.

Abstract

This study examines how the learning motivation of junior high school students affects their ability to think mathematically about circles. The quantitative approach used in this study is causal-associative design. A total of 32 grade IX students from an agricultural junior high school in Bandung Regency were selected through purposive sampling techniques. Mathematical reasoning ability tests and learning interest questionnaires were distributed to them. IBM SPSS Statistics 26 was used to perform heteroscedasticity, linearity, and normality tests to analyze data using simple linear regression. The results of this study show that students' mathematical reasoning skills are positively and significantly influenced by their motivation in learning. It is hoped that this research can provide concrete evidence on how interest in learning affects mathematical thinking skills related to circular material. In addition, this research will assist educators in designing teaching methods that can arouse students' curiosity about mathematical reasoning. Future researchers are advised to collect larger samples to analyze more variables.

Abstract

This study focuses on the development of digital flipbook-formatted LKPD, using a Problem-Based Learning approach for the topic of algebraic forms. The method used is Research and Development by following the ADDIE model. The subjects in this study were 31 seventh-grade students. Data collection was carried out using validation sheets, student response questionnaires, and tests. From the research findings, it was obtained that the LKPD had an average validity score of 4.61 (very valid), while the validity of the material content reached 90.48%. The level of practicality, reached 76.13% (practical). The N-Gain analysis produced a value of 0.7526, which confirms an increase in students' mathematical problem-solving abilities in the high category. Given that the data were not normally distributed, further analysis was performed using the Wilcoxon test, which showed a significance value of 0.000 (<0.05). This indicates a significant difference between the pretest and posttest results. The successfully developed student worksheet LKPD is expected to be a valid, practical, and effective digital teaching material option. Consequently, this LKPD has the potential to be an innovative learning medium capable of optimizing students' mathematical problem-solving abilities at the junior high school level.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop an interactive learning media assisted by the Canva application integrated with the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model. The Research and Development (R&D) method was employed using the ADDIE development model. The subjects involved in this study were 26 eighth-grade students at a junior high school in the Parongpong area, West Bandung Regency. Data were collected using a mathematical critical thinking skills test, expert validation sheets, and practicality questionnaires. The results indicated that the developed learning media was highly valid, based on assessments by media experts (89,06%), material experts (91,25%), and language experts (94,44%). The product also met the highly practical criteria, achieving 83,85% in the small-group trial and 86,49% in the large-scale testing. Furthermore, the media's effectiveness was demonstrated by an improvement in students' mathematical critical thinking skills, which fell into the high category with an N-gain score of 0,70. Consequently, it can be concluded that the Canva-assisted interactive learning media using the PBL model is valid, practical, and effective in enhancing students' mathematical critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Students' mathematical problem-solving ability still needs improvement. This study aimed to develop LINEVA, an interactive learning media assisted by Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) Excel integrated with the Discovery Learning model. This study employed the Research and Development method using the ADDIE model. The participants consisted of 10 students in the limited trial, 20 students in the field trial, and 72 eighth-grade students who were assigned to the experimental and control classes. Data were collected through validation sheets, questionnaires, and mathematical problem-solving tests, then analyzed using descriptive statistics and the Mann–Whitney test. The results indicated that LINEVA achieved a very high level of validity, with scores of 83.64% from material experts and 88.89% from media experts. The media was also categorized as highly practical, obtaining scores of 84.79% in the limited trial and 83.73% in the field trial. The Mann–Whitney test yielded an Asymp. Sig. value of 0.000 (<0.05), indicating that the media effectively improved students' mathematical problem-solving ability. In addition, students' responses were categorized as good, with a percentage of 77.17%. Therefore, LINEVA is considered suitable for use in mathematics learning.
