Abstract

This qualitative research aims to analyze the stages of mathematics learning activities carried out by primary school teacher candidates at the University of Mataram. The data analysis of this research was conducted in a descriptive qualitative manner. The research subjects were randomly selected consisting of two primary school teacher candidates who have different genders but have the same academic ability. The data analysis process was carried out by collecting data, presenting data, and drawing conclusions. Data collection was obtained through instructional videos of primary school teacher candidates in primary school mathematics learning courses . The presentation of data is done by describing the stages of learning activities that the teacher must do in the classroom. The results of this study indicate that the research subjects have their respective strengths and weaknesses in the implementation of learning activities, the material abilities of the research subjects are still weak in learning activities and the research subjects do not utilize/use knowledge in previous courses to improve teaching quality.

Abstract

Advanced calculus is one of the courses given after Calculus I and Calculus II. Students who are given the Advanced Calculus course are 5th semester students of the PGRI Adi Buana University Surabaya. This study aims to describe the mistakes of students in solving Advanced Calculus questions. The research method used in this research is descriptive qualitative research. The instrument used in this study was a written test consisting of 5 questions on limits and continuity, partial and derivative derivatives, derivative algebra and chain rule, high oeder partial derivatives, maximum and minimum problems. Technique triangulation was used to test the validity of the data. The results showed that the students made the most computation errors. Students' understanding of limits, continuity, and derivatives of the two-variable function is not yet fully strong. Lecturers can apply the learning process even better by checking their understanding of limits, continuity, and derivatives of one variable function first (perhaps at a glance), before explaining students about limits, continuity, and derivatives of two-variable functions.

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to describe student’s mathematical understanding concept abilities based on concentration of learning. This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. The subjects of this study were students of class VIII at one of junior high schools in Karawang and then choose 3 people based on considerations made by researchers through purposive sampling and through the levels concentration of learning, namely high, medium, and low. Data collection techniques in this study used a mathematical understanding concept abilities test, and concentration of learning questionnaires. The results of the study based on the analysis that has been done show that: students in the category of high learning concentration can fulfillall indicators of the ability understanding mathematical concepts, students in the category of middle learning concentration can fulfill 2 indicators of the ability understanding mathematical concepts, and students in the category of low learning concentration can fulfill 1 indicator of the ability understanding mathematical concepts.

Abstract

This study aims to determine how the ability of students to think critically in juinor high school students in the discussion of flat-sided shapes. The approach in this research is a qualitative approach and the method used is a descriptive method carried out at one of the MTs schools in Bekasi Regency with a total of 10 students of class IX.3 as the subject. In this study, the data collection technique used was to test the students’ ability to think critically in the form of essay test questions on the discussion of flat-sided shapes.The data analysis technique used the Miles and Huberman analysis technique which consisted of three stages, namely data reduction, data display and conclusion. Based on the research results obtained, the students abality to think critically on the Reason indicator is the highest percentage compared to other indicators, namely 53%, followed by situation indicator, which is 43%, while the Overview indicator is 35% and the Inference indicator is 26%.

Abstract

Obstacles in learning in the era of the Covid 19 pandemic appear real and it is natural because of unpreparedness for situations that suddenly change. But in line with the necessity for the continuity of education which includes, among other things, the necessity of continuing learning, the only option available is an option, namely distance learning. This study aims to analyze the achievement of students' geographical abilities during the COVID-19 pandemic. The research subjects were Grade VIII students of the 2020/2021 school year from two classes at SMPN Cianjur, West Java, totaling 86 students. The test instrument used in this study was a description test that measured the mechanical understanding ability of grade VII students. The results of this study were students 'achievement in geometric comprehension ability was still very low, seen from the students' achievement scores, almost all of them were below 0.30. The conclusion of this study is that the achievement of low mathematical abilities or the low level of mastery of students' mathematical concepts is a problem that must be taken seriously which, among others, can be done by developing learning.

Abstract

This study used a pre-experimental research method to determine the increase in memory of class XI MAS Al-Barakah students on learning mathematics by applying mnemonic techniques. The subjects in this study were 20 students of class XI MAS Al-Barakah. The instrument used in this study was a description test of 7 questions which had been adjusted to the memory indicators. then this essay test is given in accordance with the research design used in this study is the One-Group Post-Re-Test. However, before the posttest and re-test research, first a pretest test was given to determine students' memory. The results of each test were given with a low level of student memory pretest, namely 35%, and posttest giving students a moderate level of memory, namely 55%. So it can be concluded that the more often given the test, the better the memory of the students. an increase in student memory. Thus, the results of this study indicate an increase in the memory of class XI MAS Al-Barakah students towards learning mathematics by using mnemonic techniques.

Abstract

This study aims to give an idea of how the level of mathematical anxiety of high school students. This type of research is descriptive research with qualitative approach. Measurements of student anxiety are seen during the math learning process. The population in this study was 13 high school X graders. The data collection technique uses a mathematical anxiety scale questionnaire containing 23 statements with 3 indicators and analyzed in descriptive statistical form which is then categorized by 4 categories, including high, medium, low, and very low. After the mathematical anxiety level picture was produced, 4 students were selected where each student represented each category to be analyzed in a positive manner the questionnaire answers that had been given. The results showed that no students experienced excessive anxiety levels or in the category of very high anxiety levels, in the very low category it was seen that the number of students who had less mathematical anxiety levels compared to other anxiety level categories was only 1 student, in the category of low mathematical anxiety levels as many as 3 students, 4 students belonged to the category of high anxiety levels or excessive anxiety levels , while the number of students who experience the most levels of anxiety is included in the category of moderate anxiety levels as many as 5 students.

Abstract

The author conducts research in class VIII of Cisarua 1 Junior High School using a qualitative description research method that is a case study by reviewing the learning style and basic abilities of students in understanding mathematics subjects through solving TVLES problems (Two Variable Linear Equation System). So that from this obtained a description of the mathematical connection capabilities of these students. This study uses a mathematical connection ability test instrument and interview guidelines. The sample from this study were 36 sixth grade students of Cisarua 1 Junior High School. The results of the data show the percentage score of each indicator based on the basic ability obtained by students' mathematical connection skills in solving system problems of two variable linear equations, namely the upper group with an average of 68.5%, the middle group with an average of 63%, and the lower group evenly - average 47.75%.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze student errors in solving straight line equations material problems through the Kastolan stages. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The data collection technique was done by giving straight-line equation questions to students which were then analyzed for their answers to describe their errors based on the Kastolan stages. This research was conducted at one of the State MTs in Karawang in the 2020-2021 academic year. The subjects were 10 grade IX students. The results of the analysis of student answers obtained that there are 44% errors occur in conceptual errors, 73% errors in procedural errors, and 36.67% errors in technical errors. The factors that became the error were (1) not understanding the concept of solving problems, (2) the lack of students' ability to operate arithmetic operations, and (3) students getting used to working on questions that matched with the examples.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the mathematical communication skills of Grade VII students in solving social arithmetic problems. The method in this study is a descriptive qualitative method, the subject consists of 32 students of class VII D one of the State Junior High Schools in West Bandung Regency. The stages in this research are stage 1). Preparation, 2). Implementation and 3). Evaluation, the instrument used was a test instrument that had been validated with social arithmetic material. The data collection technique of this study was the result of the instrument. The results showed that students' mathematical communication skills were still low.
