Abstract

The current situation is hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, so research is carried out through online learning on social arithmetic material with the aim of describing and knowing students' difficulties when working on questions. The data collection technique used Google forms and the research subjects were in class VIII H at SMPN 1 Nagreg, totaling 20 students. The method in this research is descriptive qualitative, the research instrument is a test of social arithmetic material in the form of 5 description questions. Factors that cause difficulties in working on social arithmetic problems, including: (1) in understanding the questions students have difficulty (2) students find it difficult to transform questions; and (3) students find it difficult to work on the questions. The results of this study obtained data that it is still difficult for students to solve social arithmetic problems. The percentage value of students' answers is mostly on the indicators determining gross, net and tare in the cognitive domain of C5 with a percentage of answers of 35% including the very low category.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the mathematical representation ability of eighth grade junior high school students in solving math problems on the material of spatial structure. This research is a qualitative descriptive research. The subjects in this study were class XIII students at SMP Islam Telukjambe for the academic year 2020/2021 as many as 3 students. The focus of this research is the ability of visual representation, symbolic representation, and verbal representation. The research methodology used is descriptive qualitative where tests and interviews are data collection techniques used. The conclusion of this study is that the ability of mathematical representation is very important to be mastered by students in determining the right strategy to be able to solve a mathematical problem. Mathematical problems in everyday life, visual, verbal and symbolic representation skills are used, because everyday life problems need to be represented in the form of symbols or images in order to make it easier to solve problems and be faced.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the level of ability and difficulty of students in creative thinking with indicators of fluency, flexibility, originality and elaboration in class IX students of MTs Cimahi, which amounted to 31 students with a qualitative descriptive research method. The data analysis was obtained using the percentage formula with the SMI which was determined from the scoring rubric and the criteria for completeness of the creative thinking ability and then interpreted it into several categories with four descriptive questions as a test instrument on the SPLDV material. The results of this study indicate that most of the students' creative thinking skills have criteria that are quite creative, as many as 16 out of 31 students who already have creative abilities. The highest indicator is the indicator of fluency and flexibility, while the lowest indicator is the indicator of elaboration.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the level of mathematical literacy skills of junior high school students level 1, 2, and 3 on triangles and rectangles. This research was conducted on 24 students of class VIII one of the public schools in Cirebon Regency with a qualitative descriptive research method. The data collection technique used a mathematical literacy test in the form of material description questions of triangles and squares and field notes. The analysis technique used is the technique of Miles & Hubermen which includes three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that from the 4 mathematical literacy questions given, it was found that level 1 mathematical literacy skills had a fairly high percentage compared to other levels, namely 62.5%, level 2 mathematical literacy skills with a percentage of 21.9%, while mathematical literacy skills level The 3 percentages obtained were 9.7%. The results of this study indicate that students' mathematical literacy skills are still at level 1.

Abstract

This study aims to describe students mathematical critical thinking skills in solving circle problems.. This type of research is descriptive qualitative, using the subject of 12 students of class XI at MA Nurussa'adah Pakuhaji. The research data collection technique is observation. The instrument is in the form of two description test questions. Data analysis in this study uses data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that students with high levels of critical thinking skills can perform well in all indicators of mathematical critical thinking skills, namely on indicators of interpretation, analysis, evaluation, and inference. Students with moderate critical thinking levels can achieve mathematical critical thinking indicators, namely interpretation, analysis and inference, but are still not perfect in the evaluation indicators. Students with low critical thinking levels still have not completed and fulfilled all the indicators of mathematical critical thinking.

Abstract

Mathematics is closely related to real lift. However, there are still many students who make mistakes in learning mathematics, this is because students still think that learning mathematics is difficult. The purpose of this study was to analyze the students errors in solving spatial geometry problems. The subject af this research wa conducted at SMK TI Garuda Nusantara in class XII TKJ with a sample of 12 students. The method used is acase study, and the form of data collection is to provide 4 test questions on different indicators for each question. From the results of this study, the results of the highest student error were on the indicator calculating the distance  between line to line with a percentage of 70,6% and the lowest student error results on the indicator calculating the angle size with a percentage of 17,2%.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze student errors in solving a number of questions on line and angle material using Watson's criteria. The study method used is descriptive qualitative. Class VIII students at one of the MTs in Ciwidey are the research subjects in this study. Furthermore, 3 students were taken as samples with different error levels. The data analysis technique was carried out through 3 stages, namely examining student answers by referring to 8 errors according to Watson, presenting the results of the study in the form of tables and narratives, and conclusions based on research results. From the results of the study, a minor mistake made by students was not including the final conclusion (missing conclusions). Meanwhile, students with errors are making mistakes in the use of problem solving procedures, and do not include final conclusions. And students with high errors make mistakes by including inappropriate data, not using appropriate procedures, missing data and not including conclusions. The errors in indirect manipulation, response level conflicts, hierarchical ability problems and other than the seven errors were not found in the results of this study.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to analyze the level of mathematical communication skills in junior high school on set material. The research is for seventh grade student from one the school in Kabupaten Karawang. with the total of students are 16 and using descriptive qualitative method. Accumulation data was obtained by giving a test of mathematical communication skills in the form of 5 question essay about set material. The accumulation data technique for this researh is using three stateg, those stage are the first stage is reduction data, the second stage is explaining the data and the third stage is evaluation. The result of the study from the 5 questions of the mathematical communication skills are obtaining result from question number 1 to 4 belong to the low category with a percentage of ≤ 33%. While the result from question number 5 belong to the medium category with a percentage of > 33%. It can be concluded from the result obtained that skills of mathematical communication junior high school student are in the low category because there are four questions belong to the low category with a percentage of ≤ 33%.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to understand the communication skills of high school students in answering the problem of sequences and series. The subjects of this study were students of class XII from high school in West Bandung Regency. The method that the researcher used was descriptive qualitative method. To obtain the data of this study using the interview method and 5 essay questions on mathematical communication skills. Based on the results of this study, it can be said that students' communication skills are still not good or low, especially for the ability to state a situation and daily problems in the form of mathematical patterns and solve them. State a situation or everyday problem in the form of a mathematical model and solve it, State a diagram in the form of a story problem and solve it. The thing that underlies the students do not understand or have correct and good communication skills because students think that writing something they are looking for and knowing is unnecessary. Students still do not understand the concept of sequences and series. Students are still careless in answering questions because they want to finish quickly.
