Abstract

Games already become the fun thing that everybody should try. Therefore, learning with some elements of games can be applied to engage student. Even more in mathematics learning which tend difficult to undertand if they don’t like mathematics. The aim of this study are to see prospective teachers’ responses about games and gamification according to their view. This study use descriptive qualitative study and literature review to get the answer. In order to do so, we provide questionnaire in the form of google form for 183 prospective teachers. We analyzed that questionnaire descriptively. The results is more than 60% prospective teachers like game, and more than 90% prospective teachers interested in following mathematics learning with gamification model. Based on results, we conclude that someone who like game is because they can have fun, to get rid of bored, to improve their thinking ability, social interaction, solve the challenges, get a new knowledge, competition, and realize what they can’t realize in real life. Whereas someon who don’t like game is because they will wasting their time, quickly saturated because the repetitive mission or challenges, don’t like challenges, afraid of addiction and not interested with some games.

Abstract

Peers have an influence on the development of adolescents, especially prospective students, especially when choosing a major in a college. Choosing a major in a college for each prospective student is often related to the peer group. Some prospective students in Indonesia when choosing a major are still influenced by peers when making a decision, this cannot be separated from the role of peers as people who have more or less in common in age and school who can broaden their views and influence the social development of adolescents, especially when a teenager will decide something regarding his education and career in the future. This study aims to describe the peer factor in influencing student interest in choosing a major in mathematics education. This research was conducted at IAIN Padangsidimpuan and the research participants were 25 students of the tadris/mathematics education study program at IAIN Padangsidimpuan. This research uses quantitative and qualitative approaches with descriptive research and percentage analysis techniques. In this study, the data obtained are data derived from questionnaires that have been filled out by research respondents. While the data analysis technique used in this study is statistical analysis of percentages, because the purpose of this study is to provide a description of the existing data. The results of peer factor analysis are divided into five categories in influencing student interest in choosing mathematics education majors, namely: a) very high influence 24%, b) high influence 40%, c) moderate influence 20%, d) low influence 12%, and e ) has a very low effect of 4%.

Abstract

This research was conducted with the aim of even more types of student errors in learning. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative with the research subjects are 10 students from SMA Negeri 1 Gununghalu. Error analysis data  solving functional matter problems were obtained from written tests and interviews. Data processing in this study using Microsoft Excel. The result showed that, the level of understanding of students' mathematical concepts was low. This is known by the function material which show that the errors that are often made by students according to Watson’s criteria are missing data error and skill  problem  solving operations are lost and there are still students who cannot translate the questions into mathematical model and steps. Early in the work on the problem. In addition, students are also less thorough and do not understand the questions so that students do not get data or information which results in incomplete problem solving.
