Abstract

Background of StudyDiabetes mellitus (DM) is a collection of symptoms in a person caused by an increase in blood glucose levels due to a progressive decrease in insulin secretion by insulin resistance. Non-pharmacological therapy that can be used for patients with diabetes mellitus in controlling blood glucose levels is one of them with progressive muscle relaxation therapyMethods : The writing of this scientific paper uses a descriptive method in the form of a study. Sampling was carried out using a purposive sampling technique with a sample of 1 personResults : A case study conducted on Bp. S with a diagnosis of diabetes mellitus and the main symptoms that appear are body weakness, headache and GDS 784mg/dL. The results showed that progressive muscle relaxation therapy was carried out for two days twice a day, on the first day before the intervention, blood glucose levels were 278mg/dL and after blood glucose levels were 277mg/dL, on the second day before the intervention, blood glucose levels were 299mg. /dL after intervention blood glucose levels 290mg/dL.Conclusion : This case study shows that progressive muscle relaxation in patients with diabetes mellitus can reduce blood glucose levels. Keywords : Progressive Muscle Relaxation, Diabetes Mellitus, Blood Glucose Level

Abstract

Background of Study : Hypertension in elderly caused by many factors that were closely related with aging process. One of the non-pharmacological treatment methods is acupuncture therapy. The needle prick method in acupuncture will stimulate the release and activation of active substances such as Nitric Oxide (NO). Needle prick at the acupuncture will stimulate impulses parasympathetic nervous and pressed sympathetic nervous. The parasympathetic dominant will issue of acetylcholine, Where ties acetylcholine in endothelial cells to induce the formation of local nitrite oxide, Which are then diffuses passing through the smooth muscle blood vessels, and then affect blood flow and local, circulation so there. smooth muscle relaxation of the blood vessels.  Research purposes determine the effect of acupuncture on hypertensive patients. Methods : This research was conducted in Klinik pakualaman II Omah Gandok Tajem Sleman. This research is a pre-experimental research design with One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The population in this study were patients with hypertension and the sample was taken by purposive sampling method. The data were processed and analyzed using paired t-test with a significance value of p0.05.Results : The results obtained that the value of p = 0.000 in the systole measurement and p = 0.007 in the diastolic measurement (p 0.05) means that there is a significant difference in the respondent's blood pressure before acupuncture is performed with blood pressure after acupuncture is performed. Conclusion : there is a difference in the decrease in blood pressure before and after being given acupuncture therapy

Abstract

Background: The number of people with diabetes mellitus in the world reached 425 million aged 20-79 years in 2017. The high number of people with diabetes mellitus is caused by a low level of knowledge and awareness in early detection of diabetes mellitus which is not good. Based on data from the top 10 diseases at Mergangsan Health Center on October 2021, it shows that diabetes mellitus is included in the top 10 diseases in 3rd place, namely Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Non-Insulin-Dependent as many as 894 people .Methods: This study used quantitative methods. The research samples were 80 people with diabetes mellitus without complications of diabetes mellitus. The data collection technique used purposive sampling. The instrument used for data collection was the DKQ (Diabetes Knowledge Questionnaire) and DSMQ (Diabetes Self Management Questionnaire) questionnaires. Analysis of data processing using Chi Square Test and the research design is cross sectional. Results: Based on the results of the Chi-Square test, the knowledge variable with the degree of error used = 0.05 and n = 80, it can be assessed with a significant p-value of 0.025. The results showed that the p value of 0.05 means that Ha was accepted and Ho was rejected, which means that there was a correlation between the knowledge variable and the prevention of diabetes mellitus complications and the diabetes mellitus self-management variable, with a significant p-value of 0.000. These results indicated that a p-value of 0.05 means Ha was accepted and Ho was rejected, which means that there was a correlation between the self-management variable and the prevention of complications of diabetes mellitus. Conclusion: There is a significant correlation between knowledge and self-management of diabetes mellitus with the prevention of complications of diabetes mellitus at Mergangsan Health Center, Yogyakarta City.
