Abstract

MSMEs producing complementary foods for breast milk (MP-ASI) need to implement Good Processed Food Manufacturing Practices (CPPOB) to ensure product safety and quality. This community service activity aimed to enhance the knowledge and understanding of the owner and employees of Petiteplates, an MSME in Batu City, regarding food safety, CPPOB, and digital record-keeping systems. The activity was conducted through an outreach session comprising presentations, discussions, and evaluations using pre-tests and post-tests involving one owner and four employees. The results demonstrated an improvement in participant understanding, evidenced by all participants achieving a post-test score of 100, up from pre-test scores ranging from 85 to 95. Furthermore, the activity identified a need for improvements in hygiene and sanitation, the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions, and production documentation systems. Overall, the outreach session was effective in increasing participant understanding and is expected to support the consistent implementation of CPPOB in the MP-ASI production process.

Abstract

This PKM initiative was motivated by the large number of students who still struggle with learning English. Previous studies have found that the methods commonly used in the classroom are generally non-interactive (one-way), leaving students without the opportunity to practice English directly during lessons. This PKM aims to improve English proficiency through the implementation of an English Club based on interactive activities or PAR (Participatory Action Research), as well as to boost confidence in using English through vocabulary games and role-play activities. The participants and primary focus are the students and teachers at Madrasah Ibtidaiyyah Darul Abrar, and the program was conducted over a period of one month. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of an English Club program based on interactive activities demonstrates that the application of the Participatory Action Research (PAR) method has a positive impact on improving the English language skills of students at Madrasah Ibtidaiyyah Darul Abrar in Balle Village. This success is evidenced by increased student participation during the direct learning process; furthermore, students’ proficiency in vocabulary, speaking skills, and their confidence in using English during the learning process have improved drastically. Based on the results of the pre-test showed that student average score was 58, while the student average post-test score was 84, thus indicating that there was an increase in the average score of 26 points or 44,83%. Proving that the interactive activity-based English Club program, utilizing Vocabulary Games and Role-Play Activities, is an effective strategy for improving the English language skills of elementary school/Madrasah Ibtidaiyyah students.
