Abstract

Distribution of medical facilities in Indonesia is uneven, so residents in remote islands have difficulties to reach it. We need to build health boat, a floating facility that provide standard services like in the hospital, especially in Derawan and Tarakan Islands in East Kalimantan. This Health boat has a homebase in Balikpapan. Therefore, the condition of the sea between Balikpapan, Derawan, and Tarakan need to be reviewed. One method to determine the condition of the sea is analysis of meteorological and oceanographic, which enable us to get the maximum wave height estimation. Long tern wave forecast can be obtained by using statistical methods of measurement to provide data of high wave in 1, 10, 25, 50 and 100 years.

Abstract

Global warming is caused by various factors, one of them is the emission of CO2. Time series data of CO2 emission will be analyzed using moving average and exponential smoothing to forecast the CO2 emission of the period ahead. Both models provide estimates of forecasting based on the average value of the previous data and can be used for forecasting time series data containing trend component. The best models are selected based on the smallest error value based on the criteria of MAPE, MSD, and MAD

Abstract

Degradable Organic Carbon (DOC) is the important element in forming CH4 in a pile of garbage in the landfill. The calculation of the potential of methane (CH4) in the landfill become the basis for control and management of GHG sourced from landfill. Estimated value of the content of DOC used calculating the weight of municipal solid waste that goes into landfill every day, counting the value of the fraction of the composition and content of dry matter of municipal solid waste by 11 components of garbage (food, paper / cardboard, gardens and parks, nappies, wood, textiles, rubber / leather, plastic, glass, metal and sampahlain etc.), to further multiplied by the fraction of a default value content of DOC in each component of trash and garbage in total. The calculations show that the total weight of waste that goes to landfill every day at 14594.05 kg / day with the largest waste composition in the form of junk food at 49.54%, followed by plastic waste (13.76%) and the smallest is junk metal composition by 1.18%. As for the fraction of the dry matter of the highest value was found in the garbage rubber / leather by 95.31%, followed by wood waste amounted to 78.61% and the smallest value was found in the garbage nappies by 17.43% and 21.23% of food waste. Based on calculations using the value of the total garbage in, the fraction of the composition and the fraction of dry material content and the fraction of DOC.

Abstract

The problem proposed in this research is about the amount rainy day per a month at Balikpapan city and discretetime markov chain. The purpose is finding the probability of rainy day with the frequency rate of rainy at the next month if given the frequency rate of rainy at the prior month. The applied method in this research is classifying the amount of rainy day be three frequency levels, those are, high, medium, and low. If a month, the amount of rainy day is less than 11 then the frequency rate for the month is classified low, if a month, the amount of rainy day between 10 and 20, then it is classified medium and if it is more than 20, then it is classified high. The result is discrete-time markov chain represented with the transition probability matrix, and the transition diagram.

Abstract

To meet the needs and desires, consumers make decisions on the purchase of certain products. In making decisions, consumers are affected and consider many factors. This study aims to examine and analyze the effect of ecoliteracy and green product knowledge to the green lifestyle and purchasing decisions, either directly or indirectly. These results indicate that all independent variables have an effect on the dependent variable. Eco-literacy and green product knowledge have a direct influence on the green lifestyle and purchasing decisions. Furthermore, green lifestyle has a direct influence on consumer purchasing decisions in Ambon City. Similarly eco-literacy and green product knowledge has no direct influence on purchasing decisions through a green lifestyle. These results indicate that the directly effect of eco-literacy and green product knowledge was greater than the indirectly effect of through a green lifestyle. This means that the consumer's decision to buy a green product is more influenced by eco-literacy and green product knowledge than green lifestyle. Therefore, in order to encourage consumers more broadly to make purchases of green product, it would be better and easier for marketers and or manufacturers to enhance the eco-literacy and green product knowledge of the consumer.

Abstract

One of the climate’s elements that has an influence on daily activities is the wind speed. Wind is a movement of air that flows from high pressure to low pressure region. In the shipping and aviation, wind speed is a very important thing to predict. This is due to the wind speed is very influential on the process of the transportation activities. A strong wind can disturb the fluency of transportation. Therefore, information regarding the wind speed prediction is very important to know. In this paper, Kalman Filter algorithm is applied in the wind speed prediction by taking the case in Balikpapan. In this case, the Kalman Filter algorithm is applied to improve the result of ARIMA prediction based on error correction, so we get the prediction result, called ARIMA-Kalman Filter. Based on the simulation result in this study, it can be shown that the prediction result of ARIMA-Kalman Filter is better than ARIMA’s. This is known from the level of accuracy from ARIMA-Kalman Filter, which increased about 65% from ARIMA result.

Abstract

The shipbuilding industry is the fabrication industry in sectors involving the use of heavy equipment materials and manufacturing practices can have an impact on the environment and thus can contribute to climate change. This study reviewed the literature to use the approach can imagine a process that impact on the environment, and occurs in the shipbuilding industry. The hope can give the shipbuilding industry a chance to set a long-term vision on an individual basis, not because in the end was forced to make as a result of coercion by the government or the pressure of the surrounding community, but also address the environmental impact more effectively, and perhaps even get a commercial advantage from the innovations developed. This can be realized with the implementation of management strategies. Management strategy is a series of decisions and managerial actions that determine the long-term performance of the corporation. Where this includes environmental-scanning (external and internal), strategy formulation (planning long-term strategy), strategy implementation, and evaluation and control. So this study emphasizes the monitoring and evaluation of external opportunities and threats on the strengths andweaknesses of the corporation. The results of this study establish a six-facto-a major factor in the shipbuilding industry that can contribute to climate change, namely material handling, metal working, the noise, the government and the surrounding community, the level of technology, and ship recycling.

Abstract

Capacities of Cipayung landfill (final processing) has exceeded capacity. The composition of organic waste is the most dominant waste composition. This study aims to assess the critical flow of municipal solid waste management system in the Cipayung landfill thus be predicted or estimated improvement of waste management system in the landfill Cipayung. The research method using MFA STAN software for a period of one year beginning in 2017 until 2018. The results of this study are critical flow of waste management systems are in the process of sorting and empowerment are still done manually, so the impact on increasing the amount of garbage residue will be dumped in Cipayung landfill. Waste composition which includes the critical flow is organic waste, plastic, paper, glass and aluminum. All materials that are at a critical flow still can be empowered using mechanical sorting machines garbage. Management recommendation is to apply the technology of recycling, composting and RDF feedstock. The government should establish cooperation with the private sector to process waste into resources that extend the life of landfill serviceability. Through optimization scenario 1, the critical flow of waste management systems can be improved with a reduction of more than 50% of the waste to be dumped into landfill Cipayung.
