Abstract

Abstract

The availability of water is a basic necessity for rural populations and is a crucial part of government efforts to fulfill human basic needs. According to the Regional Medium-Term Development Plan (RMTDP) of Penajam Paser Utara District for the period 2005-2025, the main issue in housing and settlement development is the suboptimal performance of clean water infrastructure and sanitation. One of the main issues related to clean water is the insufficient coverage of PDAM services in the area, resulting in most villages not having access to clean water. To address this issue, the government launched the Community-Based Drinking Water and Sanitation Program (PAMSIMAS) in 2019 with assistance from the Ministry of Public Works and Spatial Planning, targeting 10 villages. Although this program has had a positive impact in providing adequate drinking water supply, various constraints still prevent communities from fully experiencing its benefits. Therefore, the aim of this study is to evaluate the achievements of the PAMSIMAS Program in Babulu District. Using categorical analysis with interval scales, the evaluation results show that the levels of clean water service coverage and sanitation ownership in Babulu District are 31.63% and 27.13% respectively, indicating that the program has not yet reached its targets

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Indonesia is part of the Pacific Ring of Fire and hosts 129 active volcanoes, including Mount Ibu in Halmahera Regency, North Maluku. Mount Ibu, standing 1,340 meters above sea level, has shown increased volcanic activity since 2008, with 2,136 eruptions recorded up to 2025. This study aims to apply the Gaussian Cloud Model to simulate the distribution of volcanic ash, especially PM10, and map the potential impacts of the eruption of Mount Ibu as part of an early warning system. Data were obtained from PVMBG. The modelling results show that volcanic ash dispersed toward the northwest, reaching a maximum concentration of 2.35 × 10⁻¹⁸⁸ μg/m³. A MATLAB-based Graphical User Interface (GUI) was developed to visualize the ash distribution. The highest concentration occurred around the Talen region, near the eruption source, and gradually decreased in other areas such as Tolofu and Gam Ici due to particle dispersion and dilution. These findings indicate that the proposed model can support early warning systems and contribute to disaster mitigation efforts related to volcanic activity

Abstract

The increasing crime rate in Malang City, Indonesia, is influenced by migrant movement, lack of security features, and low community engagement. Kampong Watugong is a dense informal settlement in a university district inhabited mostly by students. The diversity of the population and the permeability of the three main roads make this area vulnerable to criminal acts, particularly motorcycle theft and robbery. This research aims to investigate the defensible space elements in Kampong Watugong to understand the potential for improving environmental security through built environment intervention. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with a case study approach. Data were collected through field observations using the walkthrough technique and interviews with the head of the village. The analysis was conducted by comparing the existing conditions of three main corridors (Watugong Street, Kerto Rahayu Street, and Kerto Sentono Street) against Newman's four defensible space elements: territoriality, natural surveillance, image, and milieu. The results show that most streets do not yet meet all aspects of defensible space. The main weaknesses were found in the image and milieu aspects, which have not been maximally planned to provide a sense of security. As a solution, this study proposes physical improvements such as adding CCTV points, security posts, speed bumps, lighting, and transparent yet tall fence designs. Non-physically, policies for portal access hours and community activities are needed to increase intimacy among residents. The study concludes that proper spatial planning and user behavior are crucial in anticipating the frequency of criminal incidents in dense settlements.

Abstract

The Sambutan District in Samarinda, East Kalimantan, has a hilly terrain with varying slopes and mainly consists of soft sedimentary materials, making it prone to landslides. Without prompt management, these landslides could cause significant damage. This study aims to identify high-risk landslide areas in Sambutan District to guide authorities in implementing mitigation measures and minimizing potential losses. The research combined field surveys and laboratory tests, including Cone Penetration Tests (CPT) at key points to evaluate soil stratigraphy and strength through cone resistance. These findings were correlated with physical soil analyses, which measured water content, specific gravity, bulk density, and Atterberg limits (liquid, plastic, and shrinkage limits). A direct shear test was also conducted to determine soil shear strength parameters, cohesion (c) and internal friction angle (φ), to assess slope stability using the safety factor (FK). Based on these tests, landslide risk was categorized into low, medium, and high, considering factors like slope angle, height, direction, rainfall, soil type, proximity to rivers and roads, as well as NDVI, NDBI, land cover, and slope curvature. These factors were analyzed with the Weight of Evidence (WoE) method. Results indicate that slope, soil type, and elevation are the most influential parameters for landslides. High-risk areas extend northward, then south, with additional zones in the northwest, southwest, and a small eastern section. Laboratory results show that soft soils, such as clay with moderate to high plasticity, are common in landslide-prone zones. The greater the soil plasticity, the higher the landslide risk. These findings provide a scientific basis for government policies and spatial planning aimed at targeted mitigation efforts to prevent further damage losses.

Abstract

This study explores how tactical urbanism can serve as a low-cost and adaptive strategy for revitalizing riverbank environments in tropical cities, using Benua Anyar in Banjarmasin as a case study. The research aims to examine how small-scale, modular and reversible interventions can enhance accessibility, support local economies, and improve environmental quality in river-dependent communities. A design-based and participatory approach was employed, integrating spatial mapping and community engagement to identify key challenges and potentials within the study area. The analysis revealed three main zones, floating aquaculture units, riverside residential corridors and a culinary tourism cluster along with critical issues such as unsafe pedestrian paths, disorganized vending areas, waste accumulation, fragmented circulation and limited public spaces. At the same time, significant opportunities were identified in productive aquaculture, culinary tourism and strong socio-cultural connections to the river. In response, three tactical design prototypes were developed: a floating aquaculture deck, an elevated tourism-housing walkway and a structured culinary riverfront module. These interventions demonstrate how incremental, low-cost and community-driven strategies can improve mobility, organize economic activities and enhance environmental awareness. The novelty of this study lies in integrating tactical urbanism with community-based riverfront revitalization in a tropical context. The study concludes that tactical urbanism provides a flexible and context-responsive framework for sustainable riverbank development.

Abstract

This study aims to design the main gate of Institut Teknologi Kalimantan (ITK) as a symbol of institutional identity and a starting point for the campus wayfinding system. The research employs a qualitative descriptive approach through field observations, precedent studies, identification of institutional values, and interviews with campus stakeholders. Observations were conducted to understand existing site conditions and accessibility, while precedent studies of several national and international campuses provided references for gate design. The analysis of institutional values emphasizes visual elements such as logos, color schemes, and typography, whereas interviews with campus leadership reinforce the dual function of the gate as both a landmark and a navigational system. The analytical results were systematically compared to yield a design synthesis. The findings indicate that the ITK gate design must integrate four main dimensions: institutional visual identity, navigational functionality, landscape integration, and security aspects. The synthesis of all stages generates a gate concept that is modern, futuristic, and contextual, serving a strategic role as a physical entrance as well as a symbolic representation of the campus. This study contributes to the development of campus gate design that functions not only as an entry point, but also strengthens the institution's image and enhances spatial orientation for users.

Abstract

Indonesia’s National Health Insurance (JKN) system faces significant sustainability challenges driven by regional economic heterogeneity and fluctuating payment compliance, particularly within the informal sector. Traditional linear forecasting models often fail to capture the complex, nonlinear interactions between revenue and broader macroeconomic drivers. This study aims to propose a Hybrid Time Series-AI framework for monthly JKN contribution revenue forecasting to enhance financial resilience. The methodology employs an additive decomposition approach, integrating Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA) to capture linear trends and Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) networks to model nonlinear residuals and exogenous variables. The research utilizes a spatially enriched dataset (2020–2025) incorporating national macroeconomics and regional indicators such as provincial minimum wages (UMP) and Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP). Results reveal that JKN revenue is highly elastic to UMP (r > 0.8) and regional economic stability. The hybrid model, validated through rolling forecasts, yielded a Weighted Absolute Percentage Error (WAPE) of 45.18% during the volatile 2024 period, effectively capturing structural shocks that standard models overlook. These findings are translated into a “Blueprint Revenue JKN Masa Depan,” providing BPJS Kesehatan with a granular tool for adaptive liquidity buffering, region-specific risk management, and long-term fiscal planning.
