Abstract

The purpose of this research is to support and encourage the development of sustainable palm oil, reduce the environmental impact caused by the rehabilitation of oil palm plants that are not well managed by the managers of oil palm plantations and produce technological. Therefore, in-depth analysis is needed related to the innovation of biomass pellet printing machine (biopellet) technology using the diagram function Function Analysis and System Technique (FAST). Analysis is done by determining the critical functions that must be present in an integrated biomass pellet machine (biopellet) on the performance of a machine that can produce biomass pellets (biopellet) and is moveable. The results of the study using the FAST approach produce engine design that has the main function in a biopellet machine that is moveable by considering the critical functions such as the cutting function of waste palm stalks, enumeration functions, raw material mixing functions, pellet printing functions and skeleton holder functions that can integrate all functions engine by considering the moveable nature of the engine. It is hoped that this research can be developed even better starting from the quality of the cutting edge of the blade on the machine and the printing quality of the biopellet.

Abstract

This study aims to obtain information on plans and spatial use patterns and spatial structures in Muara Siran and Liang Buaya villages and compile information on land cover and socio-economic conditions of the community. Muara Siran Village Spatial Plan and Liang Buaya Village Spatial Plan are divided into 2 areas, namely the Cultivation Zone and the Protected Area. The preparation of the RTRW of Muara Siran Village and Liang Buaya Village is the first example for the Regency Government in the preparation of a participatory Village RTRW in the Kutai Kartanegara District environment. The people of Muara Siran Village and Liang Buaya Village are dominated by the Kutai tribe, most of whose livelihoods are fishing, farming and cage cultivation. So that village spatial planning becomes very important in the utilization and control of natural resources. With the implementation of the participatory village spatial planning concept, it needs to be replicated by other villages in Kutai Kartanegara Regency to support development as well as to protect the area through spatial planning so that in future development planning is in accordance with the potential of each village.

Abstract

One of the strategies in rehabilitation of gold mining tailings is used pioneer trees. Pericopsis mooniana is one of pioneer types which capable to adapt to marginal and unproductivel lands. The objective of this research were to find out the growth and physical quality of P. mooniana seedling on artisanal gold mining tailings with the addition of compost elephant dung and humic acid. Growth observation and physical quality assessment were done to P. mooniana seedlings aged 3 months and 10 days, placed on polybag (15/7.5 cm x 20 cm). The experimental design used a completely randomized design with six growth media as treatments and five replications, (1) topsoil 100%, (2) talings 100%, (3) tailings 50% + elephant dungs 50%, (4) tailings 50% + elephant dungs 50% + humic acid (2,000 ppm), (5) tailings 75% + elephant dungs 25%,(6) tailings 75% + elephant dungs 25% + (humic acid (2,000 ppm).  Data were analyzed statistically using analysis of variance followed with a Least Significant Difference test. The stages of the research were: seedling activity, growth observations and physical quality assessment seedlings. The parameter observed were percentage of life, increment height and diameter, number of leaf, leaf area, number of nodules, total dry weight, robustness, ratio of leaves and roots, and seed quality index. The result showed that P. mooniana seedlings were able to grow and adapt to artisanal gold mining tailings with a seedlings quality indexs value of more than (0.09), but the addition of ameliorant did not have any impact yet.

Abstract

PT Kelian Equatorial Mining (KEM) applied the open pit mining practice in its production phase in the past. The barred land was formed not only by the excavation and digging processes, but also formed by the dumping of the waste rocks. These processes were assumed as the factor the biodiversity decline or loss. The performance of completed and ongoing reclamation efforts, which refer to the most current regulation and law, is solely defined through the quantitative assessment on the survival of the planted tress on the reclamation site, on the other hand, despite very important, no such assessment is undertaken to examine the ecological recovery of the biodiversity on that site. Hence, this research aims at (1) identifying the presence of amphibians from the order of anura (frog and toad) in the reclamation sites of post open pit mining area, (2) identifying the dynamic of the presence of such amphibians during a 5 year time series. The research identified 13 species of amphibians, which categorized into 6 families. Most of the observed location are still dominated by the common species, which could be encountered in very common open area habitat.

Abstract

Hydrological Modeling with HEC-HMS in the Karangmumus Sub-watershed Samarinda. The HEC-HMS is used to develop a model of water flow in the Karangmumus which can be used as an alternative for flooding problem. The purpose of this study is to determine the amount of flow discharge generated from rainfall that enters the Karangmumus using the HEC-HMS and to determine the effect of rain parameters on the HEC-HMS to make an hydrological model simulation. For simulation using daily rainfall and water level data, curve number, percentage of watertight, amount of initial absorption and the time needed to reach the peak discharge in the sub-watersheds obtained from the river model created. The highest rainfall Karangmumus Sub-watershed that is 84,4 mm produces a discharge of 211 m3/sec and at the lowest rainfall of 1,05 mm produces a discharge of 3,4 m3/sec. Hydrological modeling of the simulation results has the same hydrograph with the rainfall data but not the discharge data calculated with the rating curve. The validation of observing the debit data of the efficiency value (NSE) <0,36 which means that the data used are not satisfactory or invalid.

Abstract

The results showed that macroscopically the studied wood fossils had brick red, gray, yellow, brown, and black in the first sample (FKA), and the second sample (FKB) had white, gray, and light brown colors, which this color difference was probably due to the cells being mixed with other inorganic elements even though they were found in adjacent locations. Another observation of the macroscopic features of the two samples indicated that cells were still obviously visible as on normal wood, such as pores, rays, and axial intercellular canal. Based on the characteristics of AIC, it was found to have general features that were often found in several types of wood in the Dipterocarpaceae family. The results of measuring the hardness value, the two fossil samples have the same hardness value, namely 4 Mohs scale. For the meantime, the specific gravity of the FKA and FKB samples were 2.54 and 2.35, respectively.
