Abstract

Learning discipline is needed to create effective and conducive learning conditions to achieve learning objectives. The problem of student discipline is a topic that teachers encounter quite often, especially during the current online learning period. Violation of classroom rules in online learning makes teachers confused about what kind of consequences will be given to students. This disciplinary violation needs to be followed up by the teacher. The sinful nature in the student causes him to deviate from God's truth, and Christian teachers have the responsibility of bringing students back to God's truth. However, the disciplinary action that the teacher gives must be in accordance with the principles of discipline according to God's Word and bring shalom in the classroom community. As a solution, the teacher takes a communication and relational approach that includes six methods for disciplining PAUD students. This approach is based on a disciplinary principle that refers a biblical Christian viewpoint. The teacher acts as a servant and shepherd, that is, the teacher becomes a living example who guides students to return to God's truth. The purpose of this paper is to describe the role of Christian teachers in presenting the Shalom Community in the classroom through disciplinary principles based on literature studies based on a biblical Christian view.

Abstract

Humans are social creatures who are inseparable from interactions or relationships with each other. This interaction can occur because of communication. It contributes to realizing the Cultural Mandate, the Great Commandment, and the Great Commission from God. Communication has a significant role in education, especially in the learning because communication can help to achieve learning goals in education. However, in the learning process communication between teachers and students does not always work effectively, this fact impedes achieving educational goals. One of reasons is teachers and students do not understand the basis of communication and their nature as teachers and students. Therefore, this paper aims to discuss more deeply about the basis of communication in building relationships between teachers and students viewed from biblical perspectives as a guide to true truth. Basically, communication created by God for His glory. A teacher is there to guide students to the path of wisdom for knowing Jesus Christ especially through Christian education. Students need to be guided because students are individuals who have sin but also have their own potential and uniqueness. Therefore, through effective communication, this issue can be achieved. Communication that builds relationships occurs when based on the principle of Christianity by respecting the image and likeness of God that is in our communicant.

Abstract

Jack Mezirow’s transformative learning theory is one of the most referenced adult education theories. In his theories, transformative learning is the process of effecting change in a frame of reference, using structures of assumption to understand our experiences. Transformative learners move toward a frame of reference with more inclusive self-reflection and more integration of experience. Adult educators should help students become aware and critical of assumptions, their own, and others’. As adult learners, we should be part of transformative learning by being critical with our frames of reference, starting from understanding the world unconsciously in childhood experience, and moving toward a frame of reference with more self-reflection and integration of experience. We should understand the forms, autonomous thinking in transformation theory, and the two domains of learning—instrumental and communicative—as well as their definitions, comparisons, and applications in adult learning. Our experience’s premises, distortions, and situations should be identified and analysed through a transformative lens. Our meaning perspectives are broadened as they are challenged through many deformations and reformations.

Abstract

Classes that are conducive to support teaching and learning activities to achieve learning objectives that have been designed in such a way. But conducive classes also need the role of students as objects of learning. Students who are disciplined can create a conducive and comfortable classroom atmosphere for learning and fluency for teachers in conveying learning. The purpose of this paper is to describe the appropriate actions of the teacher when there are students who are not disciplined when learning takes place. The right course of action as a teacher is to show loving, gentle behavior and there is no need to use violence. By doing violence will not change the behavior of students for the better but instead makes students worse. As a teacher must be creative in overcoming problems and smart in choosing learning methods. The teacher becomes a shepherd who guides God's sheep to their homes, so they do not get lost. With love, we should guide each student to be able to return to God and be able to have an attitude that is obedient, responsible, and able to respond well to every education given. So as a suggestion, it is best to avoid violent acts in disciplining students but take appropriate actions in which they radiate God's love.

Abstract

Love is essential in the life of a Christian. Love is not only expressed in words, but also through concrete actions. God Himself commands us believers to love God with all our heart and all mind and to love humans as ourselves. This love is what a Christian teacher needs in educating and disciplining students. A Christian teacher who loves God should also make love the foundation of his teaching. The love shown by a Christian teacher is not only about praising students, appreciating students, but also reprimanding students who make mistakes. The problem that often occurs is that teachers do not make love as the basis of their teaching, for example in teaching teachers still do physical and psychological violence to their students, give uneducative punishment, ignore students when they make mistakes. When the teacher does not make love the basis of his teaching, students will take part in learning because they are afraid of the teacher, students also do not respect the teacher and the teacher cannot touch the lives of their students. If a Christian teacher does not apply love as the basis of his teaching, Christian teachers will have difficulty introducing God to their students in their teaching. Seeing this problem, this paper aims to explain to Christian teachers the importance of making the love of Christ the foundation of teaching in student discipline. The research method used in writing papers is literature review.
