Abstract

Student development is not only measured in academic terms but also in psychological and emotional aspects. One important aspect is Self Disclosure, the ability of students to express thoughts, feelings, and personal experiences appropriately. Initial observations at SMAN 4 Pandeglang showed that many eleventh-grade students had low levels of Self Disclosure, characterized by reluctance to express opinions, difficulty sharing personal experiences, and a tendency to withdraw. This study aims to describe the general level of students’ self disclosure, design group counseling services using Assertive Training techniques, and test their effectiveness in improving Self Disclosure. The research method used was a quasi-experiment with a nonequivalent control group design. The sample consisted of 20 students divided into an experimental group (10 students with low Self Disclosure) and a control group (10 students with moderate Self Disclosure). The research instrument was a Self Disclosure questionnaire based on Hargie’s six aspects (2011). The results showed an increase in the experimental group’s mean score from 74.3 (pretest) to 88.5 (posttest). The Wilcoxon test showed a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating that the null hypothesis was rejected. In conclusion, group counseling with Assertive Training techniques is effective in improving Self Disclosure among eleventh-grade students at SMAN 4 Pandeglang.

Abstract

Academic stress is a common issue among high school students, particularly when facing heavy academic demands. One crucial factor that can help reduce academic stress is self-efficacy, defined as an individual’s belief in their ability to complete tasks and overcome challenges. This study aims to examine the relationship between self-efficacy and academic stress among eleventh-grade students at SMAN 4 Pandeglang and its implications for guidance and counseling services. The research employed a quantitative method with a correlational design. The population consisted of 456 eleventh-grade students, while the sample comprised 213 students selected using simple random sampling. The instruments used were self-efficacy and academic stress questionnaires that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data were analyzed using the Product Moment Correlation (Pearson Correlation). The results revealed a significant negative relationship between self-efficacy and academic stress, with a correlation coefficient of r = -0.776 and a significance level of 0.000 < 0.05. This indicates that the higher the students’ self-efficacy, the lower their academic stress. These findings highlight the importance of guidance and counseling services, particularly group guidance, in fostering students’ self-efficacy so they can manage academic stress more effectively.

Abstract

The main problem addressed in this study is the high level of communication anxiety experienced by Grade XI students, particularly when speaking in public or expressing opinions in class. This condition negatively affects students’ self-confidence, learning process, and social interactions. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of group counseling services with a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approach in reducing students’ communication anxiety. The type of research used is quantitative with a quasi-experimental approach, employing a one-group pretest-posttest design. The population of this study consisted of all Grade XI students, while the sample was determined through purposive sampling, namely students with a high level of communication anxiety. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and questionnaires, and analyzed using normality testing and the Wilcoxon test. The results showed a significant difference in communication anxiety scores between the pretest and posttest. The Wilcoxon test revealed a significance value of 0.007 (< 0.05), indicating that there was a meaningful reduction in communication anxiety after the treatment. Thus, the research hypothesis was accepted. In conclusion, group counseling services using the CBT approach are effective in reducing students’ communication anxiety. The implementation of this service contributes to increasing self-confidence, enhancing public speaking skills, and supporting students’ academic success.

Abstract

This study discusses the phenomenon of self-harm, particularly Non-Suicidal Self-Injury (NSSI), which is prevalent among Generation Z adolescents. The method used is a systematic literature review by analyzing 25 scientific articles published in the last five years from the Scopus, SINTA, PubMed, and Google Scholar databases. The results of the study show that self-harm in adolescents is triggered by an inability to manage emotions, past trauma, social pressure, and the influence of digital media. Although not intended to end life, this behavior still has a serious impact on physical and mental health. Self-harm is also closely related to depression and an increased risk of suicide. Therefore, this study confirms that self-harm is not merely a behavioral problem, but a manifestation of complex psychopathology. Multidisciplinary interventions involving families, schools, and professionals are needed, as well as increased mental health literacy and digital content monitoring as preventive measures to reduce the prevalence of self-harm among adolescents.

Abstract

Discipline is one of the problems commonly encountered in the field of education. Students with low levels of discipline significantly affect the learning process—not only do they struggle with time management, but they may also experience a decline in academic achievement, a lack of interest in learning, neglect of school assignments, poor time awareness, and reduced social interaction. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of group guidance services using self-management techniques to improve student discipline. The research employed a quantitative method with a pre-experimental design. The population and sample of this study consisted of Grade XI students at SMK Negeri 4 Pandeglang, who served as the experimental group. The experimental group received treatment in the form of group guidance using self-management techniques. Data collection techniques used in this study were questionnaires and documentation, while data analysis techniques included normality tests, homogeneity tests, and t-tests. The results showed a difference in the average pre-test and post-test scores after the treatment was given. Hypothesis testing using the t-test showed an Sig (2-tailed) value of 0.000 < 0.05. The intervention indicated a significant difference in discipline scores within the experimental group. Therefore, it can be concluded that group guidance using self-management techniques is effective in improving the discipline of Grade XI students at SMK Negeri 4 Pandeglang. Thus, the alternative hypothesis (H1) is accepted and the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected.
