Abstract

Stunting is a chronic malnutrition problem caused by inadequate nutritional intake over an extended period. Winduaji Village is classified as an area of extreme poverty with a high prevalence of stunting determinants. There is a need for information dissemination on stunting. The methods used include education on stunting, parenting practices, positive coping, behavioral change communication, and training on creating food products from processed mushrooms, dry cakes, wet cakes, and business management. The target audience consists of 21 community health cadres from Rumah Desa Sehat (RDS) and 60 families in extreme poverty. The goal of the activity is to improve the skills of RDS cadres in assisting impoverished families and to increase their knowledge about stunting prevention efforts, as well as to enhance their ability to develop businesses using processed oyster mushrooms. This activity is part of the Kosabangsa program by DRTPM Ristek Dikti in 2024, conducted from September to November 2024 in Winduaji Village, Paguyangan District, Brebes Regency. The results show an increase in RDS cadres’ knowledge of stunting, behavior change communication, and business management. Families in extreme poverty gained understanding of stunting prevention measures and became able to practice making supplementary foods from processed oyster mushrooms, dry cakes, and wet cakes. An evaluation of this activity needs to monitor the outcomes to ensure the Kosabangsa program positively impacts impoverished communities with stunted children.

Abstract

The Minister of Health's Regulation Number 12 of 2020 concerning Hospital Accreditation aims to improve the quality of health services by establishing minimum standards that hospitals must meet. However, the implementation of this regulation is still considered suboptimal and has numerous shortcomings. This study aims to further analyze the advantages and disadvantages of the implementation of these regulations. This research employs the normative juridical research method. The normative juridical research method involves conducting library research, scrutinizing library materials or secondary data, and referencing the laws that govern hospital accreditation, particularly the Minister of Health Regulation Number 12 of 2020. The study's results suggest that the Regulation of the Minister of Health Number 12 of 2020 concerning Hospital Accreditation offers several advantages, including enhanced quality standards, information disclosure, an objective assessment process, improved hospital management quality, and a focus on patient safety. The shortcomings of the Minister of Health Regulation Number 12 of 2020 concerning hospital accreditation include administrative burdens, high implementation costs, resource gaps, the risk of focusing on processes, and regulatory changes. The proposed recommendations aim to address the shortcomings of the Minister of Health Regulation Number 12 of 2020 concerning hospital accreditation. These include reducing administrative burdens, overcoming high implementation costs, reducing resource gaps between hospitals, ensuring a focus on end results in services, and reducing uncertainty in regulatory changes.

Abstract

Abstract. Oral health issues in children are a significant global public health concern. Factors such as dietary habits, socioeconomic status, and level of knowledge affect the prevalence of dental caries, periodontal diseases, and other oral health conditions. In Indonesia, especially in urban areas like Surabaya, growing attention is paid to children's oral health. This study aimed to assess children's dental and oral health status in Kelurahan Simokerto, Surabaya, and identify associated risk factors. The sample is 38 children aged 3-11 years in Kelurahan Simokerto. Data were gathered through clinical exams. Results showed a high prevalence of dental caries and poor oral hygiene practices, such as infrequent brushing and limited flossing. Socioeconomic factors, including parental education and household income, were linked to the children's oral health status. These findings highlight the need for targeted oral health promotion programs in Kelurahan Simokerto, focusing on improving oral hygiene practices, encouraging regular dental check-ups, and addressing socioeconomic determinants of oral health. The study highlights the need for long-term, community-driven interventions to address dental caries and improve oral health outcomes, as short-term efforts showed no significant changes in DEFT and OHIS frequencies in Kelurahan Simokerto.

Abstract

Access to clean water is a fundamental necessity that underpins effective public health services and the operational efficiency of health facilities, including the Bonggo Health Center in Sarmi Regency. Recognizing the importance of reliable clean water access, a community assistance initiative was launched to establish a sustainable water installation system at the Bonggo Health Center. This initiative is crucial to enhancing the health center’s ability to deliver quality healthcare services, as safe, clean water is essential for various healthcare functions, from sanitation to patient care. The primary aim of the assistance program is to equip the Bonggo Health Center with a dependable source of clean water, ensuring it meets health and safety standards for use in medical services. To achieve this goal, the implementation method was carefully structured, involving several sequential steps. First, the service team conducted a comprehensive location survey to assess the water requirements and potential challenges. Following this, the team engaged in in-depth problem discussions, planning sessions, and preparatory work to lay the groundwork for the installation. The actual construction of the water installation was then carried out, followed by rigorous testing and evaluation to ensure functionality and quality. Through close collaboration with the Armopa Village community, the service team successfully completed a fully operational clean water installation. This unit now provides a reliable supply of high-quality water for the Bonggo Health Center, significantly improving the center’s capacity to serve the healthcare needs of the surrounding community. This installation not only meets immediate needs but also sets a foundation for sustained health service enhancements and community well-being in the region.
