Abstract

Abstract

Many countries have been forced to increase their debt to face the Covid-19 pandemic with the assumption that it will be settled once the economy returns to normal. But the pandemic is still ongoing even though it has passed a year and a half. The emergence of new variants of the Coronavirus has forced the re-imposition of even stricter restrictions. The direct result is a budget deficit, as state revenues fall, while spending rises. The longer the restrictions last, the larger the deficit will be, so it is still very possible for additional new debt to occur. With the increasing number of debts, scenarios are needed to solve them, including the worst option. This study presents various possibilities that a country can do to pay off debts that are difficult to repay, based on the experiences of several countries that have experienced it in the past. It is also a possible new breakthrough alternative, despite facing complex domestic political challenges. The alternative is based on phenomenological research in virtual communities through the internet on the phenomenon of pandemics and state debt. The results show common actions by the State in overcoming the economic crisis, namely, increasing tax rates, reducing salaries and facilities for employees/officials, selling (shares) of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN). Then unpopular alternative offers such as leasing certain islands/areas to foreign parties, and other breakthroughs.

Abstract

The impact of climate change caused by global warming is currently one of the trending topics in various media and it is an extremely serious threat to human security. Forest fires, floods, landslides and changes in lifestyles to survive natural disasters are the very significant contributing factors to poverty rates in various parts of the world. The London School of Economics and Political Science conducted a study of 141 countries affected by disasters in the 1981-2002 period and found a close link between natural disasters and women's socioeconomic status. Data from the National Agency for Disaster Management (BNPB) states that women have 14 times of risk for becoming victims of disasters compared to adult men. Women become the most victimized because women prioritize children and their families rather than saving themselves. Although women bear more risks to climate change, women can also have the principal opportunity and role in implementing climate change mitigation adaptation, namely by making women actors in disaster mitigation and drivers of change in parallel to their strong responsibilities to their families. By providing adequate knowledge for women about adaptation and mitigation of disasters, the women can turn themselves to be the strategic activists in coping with disasters for communities living in disaster-prone areas. This study is a comparative discussion of three research results to obtain an overview and find solutions to women's problems from the consequences of climate change, which is a study by changing women from being the most victims of natural disasters to becoming the driving actor for families and communities in overcoming disaster and her ability to survive the post-disaster situation. The conclusion is the three levels of gender roles related to climate change to increase women's adaptive capacity. An adaptation strategy needs the form of 1. Increasing the role of women in the political arena. It is a crucial issue because women's rights can be protected by their presence and role, as well as women in guarding policies. 2. Increasing the role of women in the realm of education. Education is no less important than politics because education will provide a foundation for understanding and self-confidence, bargaining and personal branding for women so that their presence in society will be recognized and will no longer be discriminated. 3. Cultural reconstruction based on gender equality is very important because so far, the notion of patriarchy is still inherent in our culture. Many perspectives are cooptated on the statement that superior (men) are stronger then give rise women mythos that is said to be weak (women). In reality, the presence of women is still fundamental to the aspect of maintaining the economy and education for the continuation and the quality of the life in the society.

Abstract

Abstract

In 4 years of observations of ISMEA (Indonesia Small Medium Enterprises Association), the research taken shows many SMEs neglect the effort to build a brand or branding then more focused on sales strategies to drive revenue instead. This condition will have an impact on the sustainability of the SMEs themselves. Since 2016, ISMEA is aggressively promoting SMEs products that are unique, homemade, and handmade through exhibitions and bazaars. From Exhibitions and Bazaars, the sales are much faster and definite rather than by stores or resellers. However, as a reaction to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, SMEs in ISMEA have to change their marketing method to Virtual Exhibitions. In virtual exhibitions, brand or branding plays a significant role in the business's reputation. Building a brand or branding is an effort to portray the image and perception that will be embedded in buyers or customers. The role of universities to educate about branding and reputation greatly assist SMEs on business sustainability in the era of Covid-19. Two months of training did conduct online and their products were sent to the trainers for evaluation and improvement. The SMEs were assigned tasks to enhance their skills. After the training, several SMEs began taking part in virtual marketing held such as BRI UMKM Virtual Mart, Ciputra Virtual Exhibition. In the future, ISMEA planned an initiative to organize its first virtual exhibition in October 2021 on Batik Day.

Abstract

For these border studies, understanding borderlanders provides a new narrative about boundaries. The history of a nation-state of a collective nature, the alignment of power, economic segmentation, and integration of culture, ethnicity, and identity, religion, the behavior of marginal communities, as well as modern socio-political segregation are variables that can be raised in various disciplines. In this study, we offer a qualitative method with an ethnographic perspective, as many anthropologists do, but with a constructivist approach. We call it the conceptualization of "Authority-Defined" to "Everyday-Defined." The diversity of narratives and connotations in unraveling boundaries gives the perspective of contextual interpretation in different positions. Surely, understanding boundaries should also be seen in such a detailed context that the actors of border studies, i.e., society, are observed through the lens of meaning boundaries in their everyday lives. These differences lead to findings that are rich in dynamic and varied border backgrounds. This discussion focused on on-the-ground findings about informal cross-border trade, specifically at the Malaysia-Indonesia border. A trading system built by local communities is certainly different from the trade system in non-border areas and even in the country's capital area.

Abstract

Tingginya kepadatan penduduk membuat konsumsi masyarakat pun banyak sehingga meningkatkan penumpukan sampah.

Abstract

Indonesia is one of the countries with a large market for online transportation. This paper describes a meta-analysis on policy inequality regarding public transportation. Meta-analysis and Computer Assisted Qualitative Data Software (CAQDAS) were utilized to evaluate the inequality of public transportation policy for conventional transportation. Scopus search engine was also used to identify broad literature on a particular policy regulation in Indonesia between 2010 and 2021. Then, this study employed online news related to the conflict between conventional and online transportation. The result disclosed a policy inequality between online and conventional transportation based on the social movement on online media. Thus, the government has to implement a strict policy applicable to transportation. The words “protest”, “regulation,” and “police” were also seen clearly on the issue. In addition, the protesters, comprised of drivers from Uber, Grabcar, and Go-Car, said that Transportation Ministry Regulation No 32/2016 would disadvantage them because it is too difficult to comply with the requirements. Hence, the government can decide on self-regulation to design a policy for online transportation. In this case, state law is still necessary when monopolistic attempts are made, unfair competition exists, public safety as consumers is maintained, and taxes are collected.
