Abstract

This paper traces the presence and activities of the Chinese community in Labuhan Bilik, which was the center of the Panai Sultanate government which developed into a trading port after the Dutch colonial government developed economic activities in East Sumatra through the opening of plantations. Labuhan Bilik has developed so that it attracts the outside community to participate in trade activities, especially the Chinese community. They have been in Labuhan Bilik since 1875 and are active traders conducting trade transactions with traders in the Malay Peninsula and Singapore. Their presence received a welcome from the Panai Sultanate government and received protection in the intention of providing a place to live. The Dutch colonial government facilitated it by appointing their group members to become Kapitan who functioned as coordinators and liaisons with the government. Meanwhile, the Sultan approved the appointment of the citizens of the Sultanate to become Kerani for the Chinese community to connect them with the Sultanate. They successfully traded until Indonesia became independent during the Old Order. After that their activities faded along with the changing political and economic order in Indonesia so that they now do not play a role anymore because many have moved to other regions.

Abstract

This article discusses the history of the arrival of the Arabs, especially the Sayyid group, to Medan. The Sayyid group began to come to Medan around the 19th century. On average, their arrival was motivated to trade, only a small proportion of them came with the intention of spreading Islam. This study uses the historical method in four writing steps, namely; heuristics, verification or criticism, interpretation, and historiography, with a social approach. Since the widespread cultivation of Deli Tobacco in Medan, Medan has turned into an area that is crowded with immigrants from all over the world. Moreover, since it was made the Capital of the Residency of East Sumatra in 1889, Medan has become the most developed city on the East Coast of Sumatra. The presence of Arabs in this area made Medan a city with a very diverse population. Since the beginning of his arrival, Arab social interactions have been going well and have never experienced conflicts with other ethnicities, but have been warmly welcomed. Apart from that, the presence of Arabs also had an impact on the life of the people of Medan City, such as in the fields of: religion, trade, marriage and the arts.

Abstract

The potential for intellectual property in terms of industrial design is vast, especially in supporting the national economy. Therefore, legal protection for industrial design urgently needs, which will have an impact on the emergence of much creativity from creators in creating new designs, especially in the era of the industrial revolution 4.0. Recognition of the protection of intellectual property rights is philosophically closely related to the school of thought or natural law doctrine which emphasizes the human factor in using his mind to solve problems faced in all aspects of his life. Law Number 31 of 2000 concerning Industrial Design enacted to provide opportunities for designers who came from the Small and Medium Enterprises group that controlled nearly 90% of businesses in the State of Indonesia, which expected to take advantage of the protection of these Industrial Designs.

This study used descriptive qualitative method. The population was 10 respondents, divided into 5 Islamic education teacher respondents and 5 Non-Islamic Islamic education teacher respondents from several schools in Purwakarta Regency. The instrument used was to use a questionnaire about understanding the standard of financing, which amounted to 16 indicators, then given triangulation through direct interviews to find out the causes and solutions to problems related to the achievement of financing standards. The results of this study indicate that the achievement of indicators is at an average of 82% in the Non-Islamic Education group and 79% in the Islamic Education group. Several weaknesses were found regarding the standard indicators of financing, among others in the aspect of the realization of the cost of periodic maintenance and repairs and the aspect of reporting and delivering financial accountability. Abstract

Historical writings mostly reveal the life of a group that is considered elite, so that the role of other groups is not so visible. As a part of colonial society life, domestic help is not widely discussed by historians. Unexpectedly, behind the work that was underestimated, domestic servants were actually one of the professions that the Dutch East Indies needed most. This article discusses the life of domestic servants in the Dutch East Indies in the mid-19th century to the 20th century. Research sources were obtained from magazines and newspapers from the mid-19th century to the 20th century, books, and journals. The results showed that the life of a domestic servant does not always get good treatment from the employer. In several cases, the tasks they performed were criticized because they were considered to have damaged the values and life order of colonial society.

In conducting non-interactive qualitative research, the researcher identifies, studies, then synthesizes the available data to provide an understanding of the concept under study. The results of this study indicate that early childhood games are a tool used by children in playing activities so that these activities become very interesting and memorable for them. In the Early Childhood games there are those that are allowed and some which are prohibited by religion. Basically all games are allowed as long as they do not contain any harm in them. Early childhood games which are mandated by Islam are swimming, archery, spinning or making works by hand. Games that are prohibited in Islam such as gambling, chess, online games where the harm that is received is more than the benefits. Early Childhood is a time full of the world of games, where play is their life. Much of their daily life is spent playing, even the bed is also used as an object for playing. As if their motto is no day without playing.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the emergence of social conflicts caused by the construction of the Kijing International Port which is located in Sungai Kunyit Village, Mempawah Regency, West Kalimantan. The data was collected by means of conducting literature studies and field observations. The results found, among others. Community residential land was evicted and turned into land for the construction of the Kijing International Port. There is a potential for loss of community jobs as fishermen and farmers because their lost waters and land are turned into the Kijing Port. The emergence of damage to community settlements due to the port construction process. Low compensation for community land. Insistence from the development party to sell people's land quickly. So this research suggests a multi-stakeholder dialogue that needs to be carried out so that conflicts can be resolved properly and with direction.
