Abstract

Stunting remains a significant global and national public health issue, including in Jeneponto Regency with a high prevalence. This problem is not only biological but also influenced by social, economic, and family behavioral factors, requiring family- and community-based health promotion approaches. This study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive exploratory case study design. Informants were selected purposively until data saturation was reached, consisting of mothers with children under five (A1-A10), posyandu cadres (A11-A15), and health workers (A16-A25). Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation, then analyzed thematically using NVivo. Four main themes were identified: family health literacy, parenting practices, community roles, and structural factors. The findings reveal a gap between knowledge and practice, low nutritional literacy, reliance on traditional information, and limited access to nutritious food and health services. The results indicate that stunting prevention behavior is shaped by the interaction of cognitive, social, and structural factors. The role of cadres as change agents is significant but not yet optimal due to limited capacity and program sustainability. Health promotion strategies are not yet optimal. Integrative, participatory, and context-sensitive family- and community-based approaches are needed to improve the effectiveness of stunting prevention.

Abstract

This article analyzes governmentality and power dynamics in contemporary healthcare practice through a Foucauldian perspective. It argues that healthcare does not operate only through clinical intervention, public policy, and medical expertise, but also through everyday mechanisms that form subjects who monitor, discipline, and manage their own bodies. Using a narrative-critical literature review, this article synthesizes Foucauldian concepts of power/knowledge, discipline, biopower, normalization, and governmentality with critical health studies and selected policy documents on public health, digital health, primary care integration, non-communicable disease screening, SATUSEHAT, and BPJS Kesehatan. The analysis shows that health education functions as a mechanism of behavioral formation; screening programs operate as surveillance technologies that classify risk; electronic medical records and digital platforms produce standardized medical knowledge; and insurance administration shapes access, compliance, and responsibility. These mechanisms are ambivalent: they can expand prevention, continuity of care, and population protection, yet they may also intensify surveillance, stigma, self-blame, data inequality, and unequal access when social determinants are neglected. The article contributes to socio-critical health studies by offering an analytical framework that links bodies, knowledge, policy, technology, markets, and power in healthcare governance.

Abstract

Schizophrenia is a chronic mental disorder that poses substantial challenges not only for affected individuals but also for their family caregivers. In Muslim-majority areas such as Tasikmalaya, Indonesia, religious beliefs significantly shape caregiving experiences. The purpose of this study was to explore the lived experiences of Muslim family caregivers in applying religious coping mechanisms while caring for relatives with schizophrenia. The method used was a qualitative phenomenological approach, involving 11 primary caregivers selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using semi-structured interviews and analyzed with Colaizzi’s method to identify key themes. The results revealed four main themes: acceptance of the illness as a test from God, engagement in worship and spiritual practices for emotional regulation, meaning-making and spiritual purpose in caregiving, and the role of religious-based community support. Caregivers reported relying on prayer, recitation of the Qur’an, and participation in religious gatherings to manage stress, enhance resilience, and find meaning in their roles. Religious identity and a sense of community belonging also contributed to reducing stigma and strengthening psychological endurance. In conclusion, religious coping represents a powerful and culturally grounded strategy among Muslim caregivers facing the demands of schizophrenia care. These findings highlight the need for mental health services to integrate Islamic spiritual values into caregiver support programs through culturally sensitive psychoeducation and collaboration with religious leaders.

Abstract

Stunting remains a major public health problem and is one of the leading forms of chronic malnutrition affecting children worldwide. Its occurrence is associated with multiple factors, one of which is exclusive breastfeeding during the first six months of life. This study aimed to investigate the association between exclusive breastfeeding and stunting severity among preschool children in Mandalahaji Village, Pacet District, Bandung Regency, Indonesia. A quantitative correlational study with a cross-sectional design was conducted. The study population consisted of 228 preschool children with stunting identified from secondary data provided by the Panca Community Health Center. Based on the Slovin formula with a 10% margin of error, a total of 70 respondents were selected using accidental sampling during data collection in July 2025 at several Integrated Health Service Posts (Posyandu) in Mandalahaji Village. Information on exclusive breastfeeding history was obtained through a structured questionnaire, whereas data on stunting severity were retrieved from secondary records maintained by the Panca Community Health Center. Frequency distributions and percentages were used to summarize exclusive breastfeeding status and stunting severity, while the association between the two variables was evaluated using the Chi-square test. Results: Of the 70 preschool children included in the study, 41 (58.6%) had not received exclusive breastfeeding. A statistically significant association with the severity of stunting was exhibited by exclusive breastfeeding, as evidenced through the Chi-square analysis (p = 0.005). Stunting severity among preschool children was found to be significantly influenced by exclusive breastfeeding. A markedly greater likelihood of being categorized as severely stunted was exhibited by children who had not been exclusively breastfed, in contrast to those who had received exclusive breastfeeding.

Abstract

Patients with epilepsy may experience anxiety during long-term electroencephalography (EEG) monitoring. Family support represents a key psychosocial factor that may influence patients’ psychological responses during this diagnostic procedure. This study aimed to examine the association between family support and anxiety among patients with epilepsy undergoing long-term EEG monitoring. A cross-sectional correlational study was conducted involving 115 patients with epilepsy who underwent long-term EEG monitoring at Dr. Kariadi Hospital, Semarang, Indonesia. Family support was assessed using the Family Support Scale, whereas anxiety was measured using the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale. Data were analyzed using Spearman’s rho correlation test. The mean family support score was 40.41, with the majority of respondents reporting moderate levels of family support (52.2%). The mean anxiety score was 24.73, and the majority of respondents experienced moderate levels of anxiety (46.1%). Family support was significantly and negatively correlated with anxiety (r = −0.639, p < 0.001). Family support was significantly associated with anxiety among patients with epilepsy undergoing long-term EEG monitoring. These findings underscore the importance of integrating family-centered nursing interventions to enhance psychological support during diagnostic procedures.

Abstract

Intradialytic blood pressure variability (IDBPV) is a common hemodynamic phenomenon during hemodialysis. However, evidence describing sequential blood pressure changes throughout a hemodialysis session remains limited. This study aimed to describe temporal changes in intradialytic blood pressure among patients undergoing maintenance hemodialysis.  Methods: A descriptive analytical study with a repeated-measures approach was conducted among 65 patients receiving maintenance hemodialysis at RSUD Indramayu, Indonesia. Participants were recruited using consecutive sampling. Systolic and diastolic blood pressure were measured hourly from the 1st to the 5th hour of a single hemodialysis session. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, paired t-tests, or Wilcoxon signed-rank tests. Results: Systolic blood pressure decreased initially, increased during the middle phase, and declined again toward the end of hemodialysis. Diastolic blood pressure showed a similar pattern, although the final decrease was not statistically significant. Significant differences were observed across all consecutive systolic blood pressure measurements (p < 0.05). Diastolic blood pressure changed significantly from Hours 1–2, 2–3, and 3–4 (p < 0.05), but not from Hours 4–5 (p = 0.060). Conclusion: Blood pressure fluctuated throughout the hemodialysis session, demonstrating dynamic intradialytic hemodynamic changes. These findings support routine intradialytic blood pressure monitoring to better characterize temporal blood pressure patterns during hemodialysis.

Abstract

Breast milk is the main source of nutrition for infants during the first six months of life, yet evidence on accessible, food-based ways to support milk production in Indonesian primary care settings remains limited. This study examined whether adding unripe papaya to the maternal diet improves breastfeeding smoothness among breastfeeding mothers in Sumedang Regency. Using a quantitative quasi-experimental design with a nonequivalent control group, 98 lactating mothers were recruited through purposive sampling and assigned to an intervention group, given 100 grams of unripe papaya per day for one week, or a control group (no treatment). Data were collected using a validated questionnaire and analyzed with the independent samples t-test. The intervention group had a mean breastfeeding smoothness score of 2.12, compared with 1.08 in the control group, a mean difference of 1.041 points (95% CI: 0.686 to 1.395; t = 5.831; p < 0.001). These results indicate that unripe papaya consumption improves breastfeeding smoothness in lactating mothers.

Abstract

Caring for a child with autism presents a complex and challenging experience for parents. Autism is a neurodevelopmental disorder that requires special attention and treatment, not only in terms of therapy and education but also from the emotional, social, and economic aspects of parents. This study aims to explore in depth the experiences of parents in facing the challenges of caring for a child with autism at the West Java Province-level Special Needs School for Children with Autism (SLBN B Pembina). This study used a qualitative approach with descriptive phenomenology methods and Colaizzi analysis techniques. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews with four parents who met certain criteria. The results of the study revealed five main themes, namely: 1) Initial emotional response of parents to the child's condition, 2) non-compliance in undergoing therapy, 3) financial burden during child care, 4) efforts to overcome difficulties, and 5) positive child development. These findings indicate that the experience of parents in caring for a child with autism is filled with emotional, social, and financial dynamics that require patience and resilience. Social support and active involvement in therapy are important factors in improving family well-being and child development.
