Abstract

Introduction: Uric acid is the end product of purine metabolism that deposits in tissues and can cause an increase in blood uric acid levels above normal. Increased uric acid levels can lead to disorders in the body if left unchecked. Several factors that influence the occurrence of uric acid include lifestyle factors such as physical activity, consumption patterns, and resting habits This study aimed to determine the Relationship Between Protein Consumption Patterns with Uric Acid and Cholesterol Levels. Methods: This study used is a correlational analytic design. The population in this study consists of 70 people, and the sample used is 60 elderly individuals aged 60-74 years who meet the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data analysis in this study used the chi-square statistical test. Results: There is a relationship between protein consumption patterns uric acid levels and cholesterol levels in the elderly. (p<0.000). Conclusion: High protein consumption patterns in the elderly are caused by the lack of variety of foods consumed. In addition, the elderly do not know the benefits or effects of the food consumed, they only know that eating a lot will make them healthy.

Abstract

Introduction: Knee joint stiffness is a common musculoskeletal problem among older adults. Age-related physiological changes lead to a decline in physical function and mobility, resulting in a reduced range of motion in the joints. This study aimed to compare knee joint stiffness before and after the implementation of static flexibility training in older adults. Methods: This quantitative experimental study employed a one group pretest–posttest design. A total of 18 older adults experiencing knee joint stiffness at Betheseda Kasih Service Nursing Home were recruited using simple random sampling. Knee joint stiffness was measured using a goniometer and an observation sheet. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. Static flexibility training was conducted six times over a two-week period (three sessions per week), with each session lasting approximately 15 minutes. Each session consisted of five movements performed for 10–20 repetitions. Results: Prior to the intervention, the mean degree of knee joint stiffness was 75° (classified as stiff). Following the static flexibility training, the mean degree decreased to 48.89°, indicating a return to normal joint mobility. The Wilcoxon test showed a statistically significant effect of static flexibility training on reducing knee joint stiffness (p = .000 < 0.001). Conclusion: Static flexibility training effective for improving joint mobility in older adults as a non-pharmacological approach. It is recommended to compare static and dynamic flexibility training effectiveness reducing knee joint stiffness among older adults in further study.

Abstract

Introduction: Cardiac arrest is a life-threatening emergency that frequently occurs outside hospital settings. Mortality rates increase due to lack of knowledge in administering first aid for cardiac arrest. One approach to enhancing public knowledge of basic life support is through education. To determine the impact of basic life support education using a short film on knowledge levels regarding first aid for cardiac arrest. Methods: This study employed a pre-experimental one-group pre-test post-test design. The research was conducted on March 15, 2025, involving 31 members of Nasyiatul Aisyiyah in Padenganploso Village, Pucuk, Lamongan, selected through total sampling. Knowledge levels were assessed using a questionnaire on basic life support and analysed using the Wilcoxon test (α≤ 0.05). Results: All respondents were female, with 58.1% aged 31–40 years. Before the intervention, 65.5% of respondents had low knowledge levels; this improved to 87.1% of respondents having good knowledge levels after the intervention. Statistical analysis confirmed a significant effect of short film-based education on knowledge of basic life support (p=0.000). Conclusion: Short films can be used as a means to increase knowledge of basic life support, as they engage both visual and auditory senses, facilitating better understanding and memory retention. Future studies should consider including a control group and a larger sample size to strengthen the findings.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Introduction: Exclusive breastfeeding during the first six months of life is important for infant growth and development, yet national coverage in Indonesia remains below the target. Low family support for breastfeeding mothers is one of the contributing factors. To develop and evaluate the Family-Driven Support model, an intervention that actively involves the immediate family (husband and mother/mother-in-law) to improve exclusive breastfeeding success. Methods: This study used a quasi-experimental design with a pretest–posttest control group, involving 30 mother-family pairs in the working area of Karanggeneng Community Health Center, Lamongan (15 intervention, 15 control). The intervention included family education classes, couple counseling, digital support via WhatsApp Group, and distribution of a family education booklet. Data were collected using knowledge, attitude, and practice (KAP) questionnaires on family support and indicators of exclusive breastfeeding achievement. Results: Initial results showed that most families had moderate knowledge (70%), neutral attitudes (63.3%), and low support practices (83.3%). The Family-Driven Support intervention did not significantly improve knowledge (p = 0.090), but successfully enhanced attitudes (p < 0.001) and support practices (p < 0.001) toward exclusive breastfeeding Conclusion: The Family-Driven Support model has the potential to be an innovative and replicable approach to strengthen family–healthcare collaboration in supporting exclusive breastfeeding success. Abstract

Introduction: Dysmenorrhea is a common condition among adolescent girls and often negatively affects academic performance. Many adolescents rely on pharmacological treatment to manage menstrual pain, despite the potential side effects. Interview findings indicate that adolescents have limited knowledge of non-pharmacological pain management methods. Therefore, this study aimed to examine the effects of effleurage massage and dysmenorrhea exercise on reducing menstrual pain in adolescent girls. Methods: This study employed a quasi-experimental pretest–posttest design with two intervention groups: effleurage massage and dysmenorrhea exercise. The sample consisted of 30 adolescent girls experiencing menstrual pain in Lamongan Regency, selected using purposive sampling and equally divided into two groups (n=15 per group). The independent variables were effleurage massage and dysmenorrhea exercise, while the dependent variable was menstrual pain. Interventions were administered according to standardized operating procedures, and pain intensity was measured using a pain scale observation sheet. The Wilcoxon test was used to assess changes in pain before and after the interventions, while the Mann–Whitney test was applied to compare pain reduction between groups, with a significance level of 0.05. Results: A decrease in pain intensity was observed in 93.3% of participants in the effleurage massage group and 86.7% in the dysmenorrhea exercise group. Both effleurage massage (p=0.001) and dysmenorrhea exercise (p=0.002) significantly reduced menstrual pain. However, no significant difference in pain reduction was found between the two groups (p=0.177). Conclusion: Effleurage massage and dysmenorrhea exercise are equally effective non-pharmacological interventions for reducing menstrual pain in adolescent girls.
