Abstract

Background: Applying a smartphone health-App might suitable in the context of bachelor nursing students in Indonesia.Purpose: This study was conducted an smartphone health Apps and social media for bachelor nursing students to promote physical activity.Method: A quasy experiment with pre and post-test design included 80 bachelor nursing students with physical inactive by sample power to estimated, and recruited convinience samples from the nursing institutions. The eligible participants were randomly assigned to intervention or control group. The smartphone health-app group received electronic booklet of physical activity (PA) and health app combine with social media tool reinforcement during 12-week, and control group received usual care. Physical activity was measured using the questionaire and smartphone-health-app, and self-efficacy were assessed through extensive questionnaire. Data was analyzed within and between smartphone health-app and control groups to assess progarm using pair t-tests.Results: The primary outcome of promoting PA, there was a significant increase after 12-week of intervention, and significant difference between the groups was observed. The secondary outcomes, there was a significant increase in self-efficacy in both groups, and significant difference between groups.Conclusion: The intervention was successfully promoted PA of bachelor nursing students over 12-week. The intervention was designed to be simple for widespread implementation in a variety of bachelor nursing students and settings, as it requires no special equipment or previous PA knowledge.

Abstract

Background: Head injuries are a major cause of death and disability because of trauma, it happed in many countries of the world. The case of head injuries in the Emergency department, need immediate managing to victim to prevent further complications. The Nurses required to assess and recognize abnormality as soon as possible and further management of the victim to save their life. Through the physiological status. The patient's physiological status is the best way to recognize the prognosis, such as GCS, systolic blood pressure, respiratory rate, body temperature, and blood glucose levels while admitted to emergency  ward.Purpose: To analyze and determine (simultaneously) a predicting factor the most dominant influencing significantly of outcome following head injuryMethods: A retrospective approach by analyze patient's medical records on January-December period in 2018 at H. Adam Malik General Hospital Medan. The study sample comprised 166 medical records which taken by purposive sampling technique with the following criteria: new admission (not referral), there were available data such GCS data, systolic blood pressure, respiratory rate, body temperature, blood glucose levels within 7 days under treatment.Results: Logistic regression test found that GSC (p 0.000; OR 2.583), systolic blood pressure (p 0.024; OR 0.947), and blood sugar levels (0.038; OR 0.982) had a significant effect on the mortality. The nurse must pay attention in handling patient head injuries who have a lower GCS scores and systolic blood pressure, following by high blood sugar levels.Conclusion: By evaluation of GCS, systolic blood pressure and blood sugar levels can predict the patient's current condition. The lower the GCS score, the higher the risk of death by 2.583 times and the lower the systolic blood pressure, the greater the risk of mortality by 0.947 times. The higher the blood sugar level, the risk of death increased by 0.982 times.

Abstract

Background: Patients with chronic renal failure who undergo physiological haemodialysis will experience unstable blood pressure, nausea, low haemoglobin value, cramped legs, difficulty sleeping, and dizziness when waking up. The patient feels tired, anxious, and then discovered the symptoms of fatigue and depression lead to a feeling of powerlessness.Purpose: To know of acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) for patients with chronic renal failure and a response to perceived powerlessness.Method: A quantitative study by a one-group pre-experimental design with a sample of 25 participants as patients with chronic renal failure under haemodialysis at Harapan dan Do'a Hospital. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. The assessment of the response to powerlessness used a Likert scale questionnaire. The acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) delivered for 4 sessions.Results: The proof that there is a decrease in the score of powerlessness responses after acceptance and commitment therapy with a p-value of 0.00 and a different means after the intervention of 1.72Conclusion: There is an influence of commitment therapy (ACT) for patients with chronic renal failure and a response to perceived powerlessness.Hospital management to consider applying an acceptance and commitment therapy, and nurses to have a course that therapy especially nurses who conducted with chronic patients.

Abstract

Background: Non-communicable diseases keep increase numbers in both developed and developing countries such as gout arthritis. Gouty arthritis is an inflammation of the joints caused by high levels of uric acid in the blood (hyperuricemia). Most people with gout arthritis complain of pain in the joints.Purpose: To determine the effect of cloves water warm compress  (syzygium aromaticum) on reducing pain among elderly with gouty arthritisMethod: This study used a quasi-experimental pre and post test without control (self-control) with 11 participants. The data analysis used was the Dependent T test. As for preparing the ingredients, using 5 grams of cloves boiled with 300 cc to boil, let stand for about 1-3 minutes until a warm temperature (45 - 50 0C), then observe / measure the patient's pain level.After measuring the pain scale, then apply a compress using a clean cloth on the affected joint for 20 minutes, then measure the pain scale again. This action performs every evening (once) at bedtime repeatedly for 5 consecutive days.Results: Showed that the intensity of pain before intervention was 6.73 and the average pain intensity after intervention was 3.00. The result of the t-test is 14,907 with a p-value of 0,000 <α (0.05).Conclusion: The effect had a significantly greater reduction in pain by clove water warm compresses among elderly with gouty arthritis.

Abstract

"Every human being is the creator of his own health or disease (Buddha)". A message of this quote is eat better, health better. Food is an important component and needed by the body to grow and develop as the body fuel. Mistakes in consuming food can be fatal. Therefore, knowledge about healthy eating is needed. Mostly, people refer the term “healthy eating” as a diet. These terms are interchangeable. The term "diet" is defined as restricting the amount of food or avoiding certain foods. Healthy eating is not merely counting the amount of foods, but rather the accuracy of choosing foods based on the need for balanced nutrition. A long with the GERMAS program regarding healthy eating guidelines, namely “Isi Piringku”, then we must understand about food ingredients and their nutritional content as well as balanced nutritional components containing carbohydrates, fats and proteins. The study aimed to construct the concept of healthy eating. The study applied Rodgers’ Evolutionary method for concept analysis. As the results, there are three dimensions of healthy eating involve physical, psychosocial, and biochemistry dimension. By considering these three dimensions of healthy eating, you will eat healthier.

Abstract

Background: It is estimated that by 2040 there will be more than 642 million people with diabetes in the world and 80% of those people will live in developing countries. This means that every 6 seconds there is one person with diabetes who dies. WHO estimates that the number of DM sufferers in Indonesia will increase from 8.4 million in 2000 to around 21.3 million in 2030. Currently, Indonesia is ranked as the fourth largest DM sufferer after China, India, and the US. The prevalence of diabetes mellitus in Lampung Province has increased with prevalence (1.2%). Purpose: To determine of self-efficacy for prevention of diabetic foot ulcers among patients with type  2 diabetes mellitusMethod: A descriptive correlational design to determine the relationship between variables. The sample is 107 respondents and the sample is taken using purposive sampling. Data were collected using a questionnaire, foot care confidence scale (FCCS), and treatment behavior scale for diabetes (FCBS for Diabetes). The independent variable of this research is self-efficacy of DM patients and the dependent variable of this research is foot care activity. Data analysis using Spearman Rho correlation test (α = 0.05).Results: Spearman Rho correlation test showed that there was a relationship between self-efficacy of people with diabetes mellitus and behavior in foot care activities. p-value = 0.000 (p <0.05), r = 0.786.Conclusion: High self-efficacy in respondents with type-2 diabetes mellitus will increase behavior related to foot care activities.

Abstract

Background: Diabetes Mellitus in Indonesia was ranked the 6th highest in the world in 2017. In NTB, the prevalence of DM increased to 1.5% per year and became top 10 most diseases in NTB Province. One of the non-pharmacological approaches that can be used by DM patients with high blood sugar and high cholesterol is herbal therapy of Fig Leaves (ficus carica) steeping water. Fig leaves are rich in flavonoids and pectin which are able to control blood sugar and cholesterol metabolism in the body, relax blood vessels and prevent the establishment of atherosclerosis. Pectin triggers bile secretion in digestive tract which binds cholesterol and excretes it out of the body with feces.Purpose: Knowing the Effect of fig leaves (Ficus carica L.) on blood sugar and cholesterol levels  in  patients with diabetes mellitusMethod: A quasi-experimental study with descriptive analytic design and pre and post-test of non-equivalent control group design. Sampling used the purposive sampling technique and obtained 30 participants divided into 2 groups. 15 participants in the intervention group and 15 participants in the control group. The research instruments were questionnaires on characteristics, observation sheets. Data analysis used the Pairet t-test.Results: In the intervention group, the statistical test results showed that there was a significant difference between blood sugar levels before and after intervention (p-value 0.000) and a significant difference between total cholesterol before and after intervention (p-value 0.000).Conclusion : There is an effect of the fig leaves (Ficus carica L.) on blood sugar and cholesterol levels in  patients with diabetes mellitus

Abstract

Background: The rapid spread of the Coronavirus 2019 and caused much mortality and also Psychological health disturbance for health workers who work on the front and direct contact with patients infected.Purpose: To know the relationship of demographic factors with the level of stress, anxiety, and symptoms of depression in health workers. Method: A quantitative study with design an analytical survey using a cross-sectional. The study took on April 2021 at Bandar Negara Husada Hospital, Lampang Province. The population was health workers with by a total sampling of 82 respondents. The instrument Depression Anxiety and Stress Scale 42 (DASS 42). Chi-square test and predictor analyzed data using binary regression test.Results: The finding of 82 respondents, with the level of anxiety, was 40.2% with the criteria of mild 3.7%, moderate 28%, and severe 11%. Stress is 25.6% with moderate criteria of 3.7% and 22% mild. Meanwhile, mild depression is 14.6%. The respondent who has a smoking history was a predictor of anxiety, while employment status was a predictor of depression.Conclusion: The prevalence of symptoms of anxiety, stress, and depression among health workers at the Bandar Negara Husada Hospital, Lampang Province during the pandemic is still relatively under control and the anticipation of their in keeps psychological healthy in the confront of a fluctuate patient with COVID-19.

Abstract

Background: The Covid-19 pandemic creates emergency situations that cause stressors to emerge. These stressors cause students to face challenges that can affect their life experiences and psychological well-being.Purpose: To describe the psychological well-being of nursing students during the COVID-19 pandemic.Method: A descriptive quantitative method with a sample of 290 nursing students from Padjadjaran University, selected with proportional stratified random sampling technique. The instrument used Ryff's Psychological Well-Being Scale with 42 questions and by an Indonesian version with a validity index 0.484-0.743 and alpha coefficient 0.304-0.580. This questionnaire used a Likert scale with a 1-6 range. Psychological well-being scores were grouped into 3 categories: high, medium, and low. Ethical clearance approved by committee ethics.Results: Finding that more than half of students (69%) had medium psychological well-being during the pandemic. The highest dimension score was on personal growth and positive relations, while the lowest was on autonomy and self-acceptance.Conclusion: The good condition of psychological well-being relates to the student's ability to fulfill the six dimensions during a pandemic. Educational institutions can work closely with the psychiatric nursing department to facilitate counseling programs during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Abstract

Background: Children with mental retardation have difficulty processing information so that which affects the development process. Behavioral disorders and dependence on family members with mental retardation lead to care and family responsibilities causing burdens and anxiety in response to stress in mentally disabled children.Purpose: To determine the effectiveness of supportive and psychoeducational family therapy: A linkage towards burden and anxiety of care for children with mental retardationMethod: A quasi-experimental pre-post test design with a control group. The population was the family who has a child with a mental retardation member. The sample was 76 participants using a simple random sampling technique. Data analyzed using Univariate and bivariate.Results: The family burden of mentally retarded children before intervention in the treatment group was 50.18 with a standard deviation of 18.958. The burden on families with mentally retarded children after being given intervention in the treatment group was 46.45 with a standard deviation of 17.168. There are differences in the reduction of burden and family anxiety with mentally retarded children before and after the intervention in the treatment group.Conclusion: Psychoeduactive and Supportive Therapy can be a standard therapy in overcoming the burden and family anxiety in dealing with children with mental retardation. The schools with disabilities need to have a special room to carry out therapy and improve the quality of comprehensive nursing care by recruiting nurses who are competent in providing mental therapy specialists.
