Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effect of the behavior contract technique in group counseling services on academic procrastination among seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 14 Tarakan. The method used in this study was an experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach. The research subjects consisted of five students who exhibited high levels of academic procrastination, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using an academic procrastination scale that had undergone validity and reliability testing, with a Cronbach’s Alpha value of 0.935, indicating a very high level of reliability. The behavior contract–based intervention was administered to the subjects over six sessions. The results of the analysis indicated a significant difference between pre-test and post-test scores. The calculated t-value of 16.830 was greater than the t-table value of 1.680, and the significance value (2-tailed) of 0.000 was lower than 0.05. Therefore, the alternative hypothesis was accepted, while the null hypothesis was rejected. These empirical findings strongly support that group counseling services using the behavior contract technique have a significant effect on academic procrastination among students

Abstract

Abstract

The normalization of sexual violence against male victims is a phenomenon that has not received adequate empirical attention in Indonesia, including a lack of psychometrically valid measurement instruments. This study aims to adapt and validate the Male Rape Myth Acceptance Scale (MRMAS) for the Indonesian context. A total of 16 items were adapted through forward translation, back-translation, and expert review (S-CVI/Ave = 0.91), then administered to 358 active university students. EFA analysis yielded a two-factor structure consisting of Victim Blaming (10 items) and Victim Disbelief (4 items), explaining 50.7% of the total variance.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the trends in the application of behavioral counseling techniques in addressing various behavioral and psychological problems, as well as to map the suitability between clients’ problem characteristics, the use of ABC behavioral analysis (Antecedent, Behavior, Consequence), and the selection of behavioral intervention techniques. This study is important because most previous studies have primarily focused on the application of a single behavioral technique to a specific type of problem, while comprehensive studies synthesizing multiple behavioral techniques within contemporary guidance and counseling practices remain limited. This study employed a literature review approach using content analysis methods on scientific articles and journals published within the last five years. The findings indicate that modeling, assertive training, relaxation, systematic desensitization, and behavior contract techniques demonstrate different patterns of application depending on the characteristics of the problems addressed. In addition, ABC analysis plays an important role in determining appropriate interventions by identifying the relationship between antecedents, behaviors, and consequences. The study reinforces the relevance of behavioral counseling as a systematic, measurable, and adaptive approach in contemporary guidance and counseling services.

Abstract

Academic resilience is an important aspect of student development that reflects how students cope with academic pressure and continue to perform despite challenges. This study aimed to describe the academic resilience profile of Grade XI students at SMA Negeri 2 Subang. A quantitative descriptive approach was applied involving 347 students from 12 classes. Data were collected using the Academic Resilience Scale based on the framework of Martin and Marsh, and analyzed using descriptive statistics such as mean, frequency, and percentage. The results show that students generally have a good level of academic resilience, although slight variations exist between classes. Overall, students demonstrate the ability to stay motivated, manage academic stress, regulate emotions, and persist in completing learning tasks despite difficulties. The findings also indicate that academic resilience is shaped not only by individual factors but also by support from family, school environment, teachers, and peers. These results highlight the importance of strengthening guidance and counseling services to support students’ adaptive learning strategies and psychological well-being in educational settings.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the relationship between birth order and gender with career self-efficacy among high school students. The study was grounded in Alfred Adler’s Individual Psychology theory, particularly the concepts of family constellation and birth order, and was further supported by Social Cognitive Career Theory in explaining the development of students’ career beliefs. This research employed a quantitative correlational approach involving 174 tenth- and eleventh-grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Gowa. Data were collected using a career self-efficacy questionnaire and analyzed through Point-Biserial Correlation, Spearman Rank Correlation, and Multiple Linear Regression using IBM SPSS Statistics. The findings revealed that gender had a significant relationship with career self-efficacy, whereas birth order did not show a significant relationship. Simultaneously, gender and birth order significantly influenced career self-efficacy, although their contribution was relatively low. These findings indicate that students’ career beliefs are more strongly influenced by psychological dynamics, social experiences, and environmental support than by birth order alone.
