Abstract

Character education had learned by the student since the elementary school level in formal education. Character education can be learned by using media that have character education values. One of the learning media is the movie and one of the Indonesian movie that has character education contain is “Sepatu Dahlan”. This study aims to describe the value of character education in the movie of Sepatu Dahlan. This research used qualitative research method. The source of data in this study was a movie scene, namely the movie of “Sepatu Dahlan”. The data were analyzed using semiotic theory to get the character values in the film.The result of the study shows seven values of character education, namely religious, honest, disciplined, independent, socially caring, friendly/communicative, and responsible.

Abstract

The development of the coffee commodity has grown into the literary area. The novel Babad Kopi Parahyangan by Evi Sri Rezeki discusses the long history of colonialism in the plantation sector and the Indonesian coffee industry. This novel also builds on the idea of nationalism in fighting for the rights of farmers and women. This study aims to explain the subaltern struggle according to Gayatri C. Spivak's view. Subaltern is known as a peripheral subject whose voice is always represented, so that their existence is part of the domination practice. This research uses library and note-taking methods to make it easier to understand and analyze the problems in the novel. The result of this research is to review the production chaos of the discourse of subaltern society struggle in the novel as a bourgeois nationalist chain of power. So that in placing the position of struggle, the ideology of the novel is still attached to the traditional values of colonial heritage.

Abstract

Kehidupan orang-orang Madura Utara selama ini belum menjadi fokus perhatian arus utama dalam studi-studi akademik orang Madura. Sebagian besar peneliti Madura sering memandang ke arah selatan karena menjadi pusat kemajuan kota di pulau Madura. Tujuan penelitian ini mencoba mengungkap kekhasan budaya Madura Utara yang selama ini masih sangat terbatas dalam studi-studi akademik orang Madura. Salah satu budaya khas Madura Utara tersebut adalah pagelaran budaya ritual magis, yakni Ojhung Co’ Ghunong. Berdasarkan observasi terlibat yang dihimpun oleh peneliti menunjukkan bahwa Ojhung Co’ Ghunong adalah seni bertarung lelaki Madura Utara yang memainkan peranan penting bagi ritual magis dalam tradisi menurunkan hujan ketika musim kemarau panjang. Melalui kerja metode etnografi monografi, tersingkap kandungan nilai budaya kehidupan di antara Ojhung Co’ Ghunong. Budaya kehidupan ini tidak hanya berupa usaha menghidupkan lahan-lahan pertanian yang dilanda kekeringan, melainkan juga telah bertransformasi menjadi saluran pendidikan di antara orang-orang Madura Utara untuk menjaga dua kekuatan tubuh mereka, yakni tubuh material dan non material, agar menjadi lelaki Madura sejati.

Abstract

This study examines how the impact of the emergence of the Covid-19 Pandemic on the BIPA (Bahasa Indonesia Penutur Asing) learning process at the State University of Surabaya. The formulation of the problem in this study is (1) How is the influence of the Covid-19 pandemic on the learning conditions of BIPA at the State University of Surabaya? (2) How are the efforts of the State University of Surabaya in overcoming obstacles in BIPA learning due to the Covid-19 pandemic? The method used in this research is to conduct interviews by conducting a survey of BIPA teachers and stakeholders in State University of Surabaya especially BIPA program. The results obtained, there are new problems from the Covid-19 pandemic, limited mobility, and activities in the learning process, plus students who cannot come to the country where they study. On the other hand, the university is looking for a solution by adjusting the learning process using an innovative online learning process to deal with students who cannot come to Indonesia due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh adanya problematika ketika usai kegiatan menyimak kurang lebih hanya ada 4-5 mahasiswa yang aktif berdiskusi dan yang lainnya hanya diam tidak mengungkapkan pendapatnya. Proses menyimak memerlukan perhatian serius dari mahasiswa. Oleh karena itu, perlu adanya model pembelajaran yang diterapkan dosen kepada mahasiswa yang inovatif guna mengubah pola pembelajaran ke arah yang lebih baik. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa dosen menggunakan semua media yang ada di laboratorium utamanya media audio visual yang bisa digunakan secara interaktf. Selain itu, media interaktif adalah media audio visual yang digunakan dosen pengajar sebagai alat bantu dalam menyampaikan materi pembelajaran keterampilan menyimak kritis. Dalam hal ini dosen menggunakan komputer, proyektor, seperangkat multimedia lengkap dengan headset di masing masing kursi. Media audio visual dipilih dari sumber internet seperti di youtube yang berupa rekaman materi yang dipilih sedemikian rupa untuk membantu proses menyimak kritis agar lebih mudah dipahami mahasiswa Tadris Bahasa Indonesia IAIN Madura. Di sisi lain, mahasiswa merasa terbantu dalam hal menyimak dengan menggunakan media interaktif. Sebaliknya mereka merasa bosan jika pembelajaran keterampilan menyimak hanya diisi dengan diskusi atau metode ceramah. Mereka kurang konsentrasi dan terkadang mudah mengantuk. Adapun faktor pendukung dalam pembelajaran keterampilan menyimak ini adalah kondisi kelas yang kondusif ditambah dengan multimedia yang membantu jalannya proses belajar mengajar keterampilan menyimak kritis. Faktor penghambatnya terletak pada perangkat laboratorium, dalam hal ini headset yang tidak semuanya berfungsi dengan baik. Pada media yang digunakan, jika durasi terlalu panjang, mahasiswa akan kesulitan untuk menyimpulkan keseluruhan isi dari bahan simakan yang di sajikan.

Abstract

This study focuses on the development of Virtual Reality (VR)-based language learning media, literature, and teaching to enhance writing skills and facilitate the process of learning literature and local knowledge related to ships, naval warfare strategies, and understanding Jokotole stories while incorporating local wisdom. The research follows the Borg and Gall Research and Development model, consisting of seven stages: problem identification, information gathering, product design, product testing, design revision, design validation, and product revision. The developed learning media is intended for use on android or similar devices, utilizing a virtual box, and integrates Madurese local wisdom from folklore through VR technology. The research aims to address two main questions: (1) How to develop VR-based learning media for maritime literature that focuses on local wisdom related to sailing and naval warfare strategies in Jokotole folklore, and (2) What is the process of reading learning using VR media? The research findings include the development of a storyboard based on the Jokotole legend using unity software and limited to five events. The naval strategy incorporates the influence of the Jokotole figure and their authority. Furthermore, shipping technology and weapons involve the use of sickles, machetes, and whips, while the ship model (Cadik) functions as transportation. The study concludes that the process of learning literature using VR media enhances student enthusiasm and facilitates the formation of writing ideas. VR media is highly engaging for students and can be an alternative approach in literature learning, allowing for the reinterpretation of folklore content.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the character of Madurese life contained in the film "Mata Pena" with a semiotic approach. The urgency of this research is to base the view that the Madurese are notlike the negative views that have been thought so far. This study uses a qualitative approach with a description technique. The data collection technique used is the technique of watching videos, noting important things, and literature as a reinforcing reference to the argument. The analysis technique used is to reduce the data according to its classification, display the data, and conclude. This study is related to the reflection of the character of the Madurese community in the film. This study uses a qualitative approach with a description technique. The results of this study are (1) The aspects of the sign are grouped in the form of denotation, connotation, and myth. In simple terms, the meaning of denotation is the depiction of the true meaning of the Madurese language into Indonesian. For the meaning of connotation and myth are two things related to the agreed meaning in the cultural life of the Madurese community. This is illustrated in the myth that contains the proverb (parebhasan) of Madura which is mutually agreed upon. (2) The reflection (character) in the short film Madura contains several characters, namely kinship, firm (steadfast), careful, and trustworthy. These characters are the implementation of Madurese culture in daily social life.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the existence of street names in Madiun City with the characteristics of each region. This study aims to find the form of naming and describe the meaning of roads in Madiun City. The method used in this research is qualitative, semantic study. Sources of data in this study are street names (places), street naming documents (maps), and historians. The data in this study are in the form of words or phrases of street names in the city of Madiun. Data collection techniques are in the form of documentation in the form of writing and pictures. The data analysis technique in this study consisted of three stages, namely (1) analyzing the naming pattern based on the number of words, the number of syllables, markers, and word classes, (2) analyzing the meaning of street names and associating names with references, and (3) analyzing the existence of whether or not the contribution of historical and national values ​​to street names. This research resulted in finding street names in Madiun City using 2 words, 4 syllables, word classes in the form of nouns, and the most common markers were the names of heroes. Found 14 meanings of street names in Madiun City. The naming of roads receives a contribution of historical value in the form of a change of name and the existence of a marker object, while it receives a contribution of national value through street names in the form of names of heroes and organizations as a commemoration of services and the embodiment of love for Indonesia.

Abstract

Denny Sumargo's podcast has become one of the most popular channels for various people. One of the interesting topics that can be studied is the potential presuppositions that appear in speech. Denny Sumargo discoursed with his interlocutor through the use of certain figurative speech. The aim of this study is to analyze the figurative speech control rationale of potential presuppositional found on Denny Sumargo’s YouTube podcast channel with Laura Anna. The research method used in this study was content analysis with a qualitative approach. The data was taken from discourse activities on the video podcast of Denny Sumargo with Laura Anna which aired on Youtube. The data in this study was a discourse that contained potential presuppositions. Data collection techniques in the study were carried out with documentation techniques, listening techniques, and note-taking techniques. Based on the data analysis, it was found that all types of potential presuppositions were in the style of repetition, ellipsis, symbolism, hyperbole, euphemism, and metaphor. Those potential presuppositions of figurative speech aim to soften the language so that the interlocutor does not feel offended, to confirm the intention, to trigger interpretation, and to enhance the impression. Those a forms of rationalization of speech to control the social attributes of Laura Anna as a guest star who is paralyzed due to an accident.

Abstract

This research is motivated by phenomena that occur in the context of learning Indonesian as a foreign language related to intercultural communication activities between foreign students and Indonesians in general (BIPA teachers, language partners, and local people), for example related to intercultural communication barriers and attitudes, anda attitudes that shown by foreign students in intercultural communication. This research is aimed to describe the (1) negative attitudes and (b) positive attitudes of foreign students in understanding the message in intercultural communication. This research is descriptive-qualitative research based on phenomena that appear in BIPA learning. The data in this research is taken from the questionnaires and in-depth interview with foreign students. The results are three negative attitudes, there are (a) denial, (b) defense or reversal, and (c) minimization and three positives attitudes, there are (a) acceptance, (b) adaptation, and (c) integration shown by foreign students in understanding messages in intercultural communication. This research can contribute thoughts and insights and can be used as a reference in further researching intercultural communication. In addition, it can also be used by foreign students and Indonesians in general, such as BIPA teachers, language partners, and local people as references in intercultural communication.
