Site syntax construction; nu.or.id emphasizes the connotative meaning, site; Muhammadiyah.or.id emphasized denotative meaning. Site stylistic construction; nu.or.id uses allegory figurative language, website; Muhammadiyah.or.id does not use a standardized language style. The rhetorical construction of the site; nu.or.id uses connotative sentences, site; muhammadiyah.or.id uses the phrase 'foreign' as a characteristic of the development of thought. Abstract

This paper aims to analyze the virtual da'wa laboratory of Walisongo TV (WTV) and MBS FM owned by the Faculty of Da’wa and Communication, UIN Walisongo Semarang in nurturing Islamic moderatism during Ramadan 2020 amid the Covid-19 Pandemic. This research is a qualitative study using the New Media and Religion approach from Cambpbell (2010) who stated that there are two important objects regarding online religion, namely the technical aspects of new media, and the non-technical aspects related to three things, namely the community, authority, and textual media. The study concludes that first, technically WTV and MBS uses new media such as WhatsApp, Instagram, YouTube, Jitsi.meet, and Zoom meeting for all activities, starting from the internal crew's coordination; communication between crews and da’i in discussing da’wa contents; videos taking process; production activities, to promotions and publications. Second, non-technically WTV and MBS FM provide the products in the form of recordings and LIVE (live broadcast). The products represent the Islamic moderate community behind the media authorized by Nadlatul Ulama (NU) da’wa ideology. Hence, media text broadcasted is framed by the jargon “Islam Rahmatan li al-‘Alamin” based on the classical Islamic texts (Kitab Kuning). This suggests that community, authority, and textual media have to be taken into account in forming a virtual moderate da’wa laboratory.

Abstract

The study of Friday sermon content is always interesting to discuss, especially in Muslim minority areas. This study describes the content of the Friday sermons selected by the preachers in Jayapura City. The research method used is a qualitative method by recording Friday sermons from several types of mosques, namely the Great Ash Shalihin Mosque in Jayapura City, the Baiturrahim Mosque, Kotaraja, Skyland Complex, and the IAIN Fathul Muluku Jayapura Campus Mosque. This study found that the procedure for selecting khatibs in Jayapura City was coordinated by the Ministry of Religious Affairs except for Heram and Muara Tami Districts. Therefore, content is easier to coordinate. In general, preachers in Jayapura City prefer themes around issues of faith, jurisprudence, and morals. Besides that, the preacher also often chooses content related to events that are currently viral. Meanwhile, content related to religious moderation, including local wisdom, is still very minimal. Khatib tends to choose a religious theme or context that is safe from controversy because in Jayapura the majority is Christian. In addition, the preachers' and community's literacy is still lacking towards moderation material on religion and local wisdom. The control efforts undertaken by the Ministry of Religion over the implementation of the Friday sermon schedule in Jayapura City need to be increased by capturing all mosques. There needs to be a mapping related to the distribution of preachers, da'wah themes, the religious characteristics of community groups as objects of da'wah so that the preaching delivered does not impress provocative da'wah just because it differs in religious understanding.

Abstract

Hoax is a human problem in this era of information. The presence of hoaxes causes information consumers to find it difficult to distinguish between true or false information, especially those that spread on social media. The main problem in this research is how hoaxes can threaten religious moderation in Indonesia. This study aims to analyze how hoax information on social media threatens the moderation of Islam in Indonesia. This research uses the library research method. The data were obtained from relevant library data sources and analyzed using a qualitative approach. The findings show that many hoaxes are conveyed along with religious and political information. Hoax on the political aspect aims to bring down political opponents or the government. In the religious aspect, hoaxes are used to attack opposing religious beliefs or schools. Hoaxes on these two aspects, especially religion, have the potential to divide people and destroy religious moderation in society. This research is expected to contribute to the study of communication, especially media and information.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the discourse of the Minister of Religion's statement regarding good-looking radicalism among the State Civil Apparatus. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with van Djik's critical discourse analysis. The data collection uses documentary techniques from Youtube video webinars and a number of journals. The macrostructure shows that there are strategies that can be done to ward off the entry of radical ideology in ASN. The superstructure shows the process of radicalism agents entering through educational institutions and houses of worship with an attractive appearance to deceive the public. The microstructure analysis shows that this statement of good-looking radicalism has generated polemic in society because it is subjective, that is, it cannot be generalized based on one case. The result of this study shows that some people think that the Minister of Religion agrees with the good-looking radicalism movement. The communicator is the Minister, namely as a messenger to ward off radicalism agents by being careful in selecting ASN. The Minister has access to convey messages to the public to be aware of the entry of radical-minded people into mosques, which usually starts from people who are good-looking, speak Arabic well, and have sufficient religious knowledge.

Abstract

Islam is a religion that is believed by Muslims as a religion that always calls for goodness. It is based on what has been brought and taught by the Prophet Muhammad SAW to Muslims. The presence of the Prophet among mankind as a role model and carrying a noble mission one of them is to perfect good morals. Moral problems are actually human problems from ancient times until now. To overcome these moral problems, some ulama have made their best efforts to convey messages of kindness. However, often some ulama found a little problem related to the target of the da'wah they were to convey. Da'wah is sometimes only conveyed to certain groups most of whom are male so that some of the women are still not touched by the da'wah. For this reason, many ulama try to establish a special place to convey their preaching to be more optimal. This special place is often referred to as social association (jam'iyyah). In this jam'iyyah place, there are usually many Islamic activities held where many of the women are present in order to gain a series of knowledge. That way, the religious activities contained in this jam'iyyah, In the end, it was used as a place for delivering da'wah among the targets were women. This research will describe da'wah activities for women through jam'iyyah activities. This study aims to maximize jam'iyyah activities for da'wah. This research will be conducted using a qualitative descriptive method.
