<![CDATA[This study compares the effectiveness of Google Translate and printed dictionaries in enhancing students' vocabulary acquisition. A quantitative, quasi-experimental design was employed. Participants were twenty eighth-grade students from SMPN 4 Tolitoli (2023/2024), Central Sulawesi, Indonesia, divided into a control group (using printed dictionaries) and a treatment group (using Google Translate). Pre-tests and post-tests, consisting of multiple-choice, matching, and fill-in-the-blank tasks, assessed vocabulary knowledge. Data collection involved pre-tests, a four-week treatment, and post-tests. Descriptive statistics and t-tests analyzed the data. Both groups showed improved vocabulary acquisition post-treatment, with no significant differences in learning outcomes. Despite similar average scores, substantial variability was observed within each group, reflected by high standard deviations and wide score ranges. These results suggest both tools have unique strengths: Google Translate offers convenience and accessibility, while printed dictionaries provide comprehensive definitions and contextual understanding. A blended approach incorporating both tools is recommended for educators and curriculum designers. Future research should explore long-term vocabulary retention and the integration of digital tools into traditional learning frameworks, considering personalized strategies to address diverse student needs.]]>

<![CDATA[This research analyzes students' critical thinking when reading exposition texts. Conducted at the Health Department of SMKN 1 Tolitoli, this qualitative research utilized observations as the data collection method to gather data relevant for this research and thematic analysis to analyze the collected data. The observation phase analyzed students' engagement with analytical exposition texts, revealing proficiency in various aspects of critical thinking, including comprehension, analysis, and evaluation. Students demonstrated the ability to recall key facts, summarize main ideas, and critically evaluate evidence to form well-supported opinions. Students emphasized the importance of activities such as careful reading, summarization, and discussion in enhancing their understanding and critical thinking abilities. The findings suggest the need for explicit instruction and support for all stages of critical reading to foster students' holistic development of critical thinking skills. This research contributes to a deeper understanding of students' critical thinking practices and provides valuable insights for educators seeking to enhance students' critical reading abilities in the context of analytical exposition texts.]]>

<![CDATA[This study seeks to reveal university students' perceptions towards Grammarly website which is becoming more popular to be used by them as a medium for writing English well. As we all know, in this modern era or the 21st century, technology developments especially websites or applications have growth rapidly, and it really eases students in performing English. Grammarly is recognized as one of platform that is intended to assist students’ writing of English correctly and precisely. So, this research is focused to expose the EFL student's perception about Grammarly website whether it is positive or negative. Online closed-ended questionnaire was used in this study, and it involved 100 students only on the small-scale context. The findings demonstrated that students believed that using Grammarly would have a positive impact on their English writing in context three aspects of easiness, motivation and satisfaction, and English competence with dominant respond of strongly agree and disagree.]]>

<![CDATA[This research examines the correlation among religious tourism, the use of foreign languages, and tourist motivation at Bunda Beach and Resort. The background of this research highlights the importance of information in foreign languages in religious tourism destinations which can influence tourists' experiences and motivation. The aim of this research is to understand the dynamics and factors that influence religious tourism, especially the use of Latin at Bunda Beach and Resort. The research method used is a mixed method, with data collection through questionnaires and interviews. The research results show that the use of Latin at Bunda Beach and Resort is not the main factor that attracts tourists. The main motivation of tourists to visit this place is to freshen up, pray and enjoy the religious atmosphere offered by the resort. The conclusion of this study is that although the use of Latin provides a strong religious overtone, this does not significantly influence tourist motivation. Bunda Beach and Resort management can consider adding other elements that are more attractive to general tourists.]]>

<![CDATA[The teaching factory learning model has become an important strategy in enhancing students' expertise in Vocational High Schools (SMK) in South Aceh. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of this learning model in improving students' skills, particularly in the concentration of computer and network engineering expertise. The research shows that products, whether goods or services, in the teaching factory learning model play a crucial role as the main medium in delivering expertise to students. Block schedules are used to optimize resources efficiently, while Job Sheets regulate the sequence of materials to achieve the desired competencies. Supporting factors in the implementation of the teaching factory include support from school management, active student participation, and trust from the community as consumers of the products. However, some obstacles have also been identified, such as lack of socialization, suboptimal teaching staff, and limited facilities and infrastructure. Practical learning processes are conducted according to real work procedures, with a focus on student-centered learning, self-learning, and learning by doing principles. This allows students to learn through direct practice, not just theory. Thus, the teaching factory learning model at SMK in South Aceh contributes to enhancing students' expertise in the concentration of computer and network engineering.]]>

<![CDATA[This study aims to investigate the influence of using the Merdeka Mengajar Platform (PMM) and utilizing instructional media on the quality of education at SMP Labuhanhaji Raya, South Aceh. The research employs a quantitative approach with a correlational design. Teachers constitute the population of this study, totaling 200 individuals, from which a proportional random sample of 133 teachers was selected. Data were collected using a questionnaire. The results indicate that PMM and the use of instructional media simultaneously affect the quality of education at SMP Labuhan Haji Raya, South Aceh, with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. Students who use PMM and instructional media tend to have better conceptual understanding and higher engagement levels in the learning process. Furthermore, teachers who utilize instructional media in delivering content demonstrate better skills in capturing students' attention and explaining material more effectively. This research provides important insights for educational practitioners and policymakers regarding the significance of integrating technology and instructional media to enhance the quality of education in schools. Practical implications of this study include recommendations for enhancing teacher training in utilizing instructional media and developing teaching strategies that integrate PMM with existing instructional methods.]]>

<![CDATA[Teachers’ strictness has a role in shaping students' learning and has become an extensive research subject of education. This research is focused on teachers' strictness, which impacts the students' engagement, academic achievements, and emotions. Findings showed that the balancing of approach where strictness, support, and clear communication can impact the students' achievement and their behavioral development positively. The method of strict discipline may lead to the effect of decreased motivation, lower engagement, and increased anxiety. For example, research highlights that strict class management can enhance short-term compliance, otherwise, this matter destroys long-term educational achievement, except if it is combined with the nurture of the relationship between teacher and students. Furthermore, the education strategy that interprets discipline and empathy is recommended to foster a conducive environment for the development of the students holistically. These findings underlined the complexity of the effectiveness of the teacher which advocates a nuanced approach of discipline that supports academic rigor and emotional support.]]>

<![CDATA[Writing a thesis proposal is an important part of undergraduate education. However, many students face difficulties in writing a thesis proposal, such as selecting an appropriate topic and systematic preparation. In technological developments, ChatGPT can help students in the process of writing a thesis proposal by providing writing assistance, critical thinking, and other information. This research aims to gain the perception and challenges of students in using ChatGPT in assisting them writing their thesis proposals. To get to these aims, the researcher implemented a research and development design by using qualitative methods.. This research was conducted at Al Asyariah Mandar University . The subjects of this research were the seventh semester students of Mathematic Education and Bahasa Indonesia Education in the academic year 2023-2024. In this study, students will be interviewed and asked to share their experiences, the effectiveness and challenges on the assistance of chatgpt in writing their thesis proposals. In the interview results, ChatGPT helps users in finding thesis proposal titles, give information and ideas in building introductions, and providing alternative solutions to deepen the understanding of the proposal. It is important to consider and verify information with more reliable and accurate sources. The use of ChatGPT in writing thesis proposals is an interesting and effective alternative, but users also need to remain critical and selective in utilizing it. In further research, more interviews and case studies need to be conducted to obtain a more comprehensive understanding of the use of ChatGPT in writing thesis proposals. Although ChatGPT has limitations, respondents consider its use to improve productivity and learning efficiency. Therefore, the use of ChatGPT can be considered as an attractive alternative in writing thesis proposals, while maintaining a critical approach in utilizing it and verifying the information provided.]]>

<![CDATA[Academic emotions are the feelings or emotions that students experience when they are learning. This study aimed to analyze students' academic emotions regarding the use of English-native speaker videos on YouTube for learning vocabulary. A qualitative design was used to conduct the study, which employed a questionnaire and in-depth interviews to collect data. The participants of this study were third- and fifth-semester English major students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Kendari. The findings showed that, in terms of positive emotions, students enjoyed the learning process and were motivated to continue learning vocabulary. It was because the videos of English native speakers on YouTube provided interesting material, easy-to-understand pronunciation, and freedom to choose topics. Students were optimistic about the benefits of these videos for vocabulary improvement and proud of their learning achievements when learning vocabulary. Furthermore, in the negative emotions, it showed that the students did not feel desperate when learning vocabulary through native speaker videos on YouTube, and students generally do not get bored because they can overcome boredom in various ways, such as choosing short videos, changing to other videos, or taking short breaks. These conclusions suggest that English-native speaker videos on YouTube are an effective and enjoyable vocabulary learning medium for students.]]>

<![CDATA[This study examines netizens' perceptions of the Nias Heritage Museum as a tourism destination through analysis of comments on the museum's Facebook platform. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, the research analyzes Facebook posts and comments from 2023-2024 to understand how social media users perceive and engage with the museum online. The study employs sociolinguistic analysis to examine language variation, identity expression, cultural context, and language functions in user comments. Findings indicate generally positive perceptions of the museum, with netizens using both Indonesian and the Nias regional language to express cultural pride and identity. The research reveals that posts with diverse language use and strong cultural context generate higher engagement. Additionally, the study demonstrates the effectiveness of Facebook as a promotional tool for the museum, highlighting the platform's ability to reach a wide audience and foster community interaction. This research contributes to understanding digital communication strategies for cultural heritage sites and offers insights for optimizing social media engagement in cultural tourism contexts.]]>
