Abstract

The learning process uses many foreign terms and synonyms, so various media are sometimes used in the learning process to provide understanding related to a term. One of them is a thesaurus commonly used to provide meanings and similarities in words so that students know the meaning and synonyms of the terms. A thesaurus is a list of words that have the same meaning and are arranged lexicographically. This study aims to determine thesaurus research trends in the realm of education or learning and the use of thesaurus as a learning medium and learning support. A systematic search of study literature was conducted based on the PRISMA framework. The population of this study is scientific articles indexed by Scopus with a span of the last five years that discuss related to thesaurus and education. Analysis of the literature revealed that thesaurus can be used as an additional learning medium to improve student understanding. Thesaurus development in each branch of science is needed because the thesaurus as a learning tool can support students understanding of the concentration of science they choose.

Abstract

Scientific journals are crucial for disseminating research and providing up-to-date references in various fields.  As such, any research that does not refer to current and relevant journals will lose its significance and novelty. Therefore, earnest efforts are necessary to produce quality journals, particularly within higher education institutions. This study aims to analyze the readiness of journals at Tidar University to achieve accreditation as nationally reputable journals through SINTA accreditation. The analysis refers to the instruments and criteria required by the national journal accreditation system (ARJUNA). This research is a descriptive quantitative study using a literature review method by conducting an online search of journal websites. The collected information is analyzed using content analysis methods to obtain information on the readiness of the journals according to the scientific journal accreditation guidelines. Findings indicate that out of 34 journals at Tidar University, 24 (70%) are unaccredited. These unaccredited journals have the potential to pursue accreditation. Journals meeting accreditation requirements include the Journal of Aquaculture Development and Environment (JADE), Journal of Livestock Science and Production (JaLSPro), THETA OMEGA: Journal of Electrical Engineering, Computer, and Information Technology, Jurnal Rekayasa Infrastruktur Sipil, ABDIPRAJA, and Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat (KASTARA). Other journals need to fulfill requirements such as obtaining a DOI, having two years of publication history, and Google Scholar indexing. Based on these findings, the university should support by providing training and mentoring for journal editors to improve management, thereby achieving national accreditation.

Abstract

Book donation is one of the graduation requirements set at several universities, one of which is Andalas University. This study aims to evaluate the policies, implementation, and benefits obtained by the library from student book donations. This study uses a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods. Data was collected through interviews, literature analysis, and library databases. The data were taken from the last three and processed using descriptive statistical methods. The data analysis process uses Ms. Excel's Pivot Table feature. The results of the study showed that the contribution of donated books was very high, which increased the number of collections at the Unand Library (96.22%). High contribution, not accompanied by the quality of the books obtained. The donated books, as many as 29.2% of the year of publication, are not in accordance with the criteria that have been set. In addition, redundancy or donation of books with the same title reaches 60%. This is due to weak supervision and difficulties for students from certain faculties in obtaining textbooks that are in accordance with their fields of science/major. This study concludes that the high contribution of student-donated books is not accompanied by the quality of the books received. The high level of redundancy leads to a low utilization rate of the collection. The policy for the development of donated book collections must be well planned and formulated, the publicity of the policy must be improved, and the needs of users must be considered.

Abstract

This collaboration was carried out to help Universidade Da Paz (UNPAZ) Timor Leste obtain various sources of information from e-resources in the Open Library Telkom University. The formulation of the problem in this research is 1) what is the form of collaboration between the Open Library Telkom University and UNPAZ 2) What is the impact and effectiveness of the collaboration between Open Library Telkom University and UNPAZ in accessing e-resources 3) What were the obstacles faced when this collaboration was carried out by the Open Library Telkom University and UNPAZ. Apart from that, to find out the impact and effectiveness of this collaboration. Lastly, to find out the problems faced when this collaboration in accessing e-resources takes place. The research method used is qualitative research through interviews, observation, and literature review. The results of the discussion in this research are a collaboration between Open Library Telkom University and UNPAZ in the form of accessing e-resources. Apart from that, this collaboration has a positive impact on both parties, and the obstacles faced when carrying out this collaboration are network constraints, language differences, and very minimal knowledge about how to use e-resources. The suggestion is to learn the languages used by each other, both from the Open Library Telkom University and the UNPAZ. Apart from that, improving internet network facilities for UNPAZ.

Abstract

The State Religious College Library plays a significant role in shaping students' reading material preferences. This study aims to explain the influence of the State Religious College Library on the reading book preferences of students at the Raden Mas Said State Islamic University of Surakarta, the Raden Wijaya State Buddhist College of Wonogiri, Central Java, and the I Gusti Bagus Sugriwa State Hindu University of Denpasar, Bali. This study uses a quantitative explanatory method by taking a sample of 83 students through accidental sampling techniques. Data collection using a literature study questionnaire and observation. As well as data analysis techniques using the help of statistical tools, SPSS IBM V25. The results of the study indicate that there is an influence between the State Religious College Library represented by the Raden Mas Said State Islamic University Library of Surakarta, the Raden Wijaya State Buddhist College of Wonogiri, and the I Gusti Bagus Sugriwa State Hindu University of Denpasar, Bali on students' reading book preferences with a significance value of 0.000 <0.005 and has an influence value of 24.2%. Reading materials that are often borrowed at each university are books on Islamic themes such as Fiqh Muamalah at UIN Raden Mas Said Surakarta, books on Buddhism such as the Philosophy of Buddhism at the Raden Wijaya State Buddhist College in Wonogiri, and books on Hinduism such as the Philosophy of Hinduism at the I Gusti Bagus Sugriwa State Hindu University in Bali.

Abstract

This study analyzes knowledge-sharing practices at the Gorontalo State University Library using the SECI model (Socialization, Externalization, Combination, Internalization) through a qualitative approach. The study involved 7 informants, all of whom were librarians. The data analysis technique used was thematic analysis, which involved the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results show that the four SECI stages have been implemented with varying degrees of effectiveness. Socialization takes place through informal discussions, training, and the use of social media. Externalization is carried out through knowledge documentation and the writing of scientific papers. A combination is evident in the management of explicit knowledge through the SLIMS system, OPAC, and repositories. Meanwhile, internalization is carried out through training that is still dominated by online methods. The main findings indicate that knowledge-sharing practices are not yet optimal, particularly at the internalization stage, which remains limited to online training, and at the externalization stage, which has not been implemented uniformly. Supporting factors include leadership and the use of technology, while the main barriers are limitations among librarians and technical challenges. This study contributes to providing an empirical overview of the implementation of the SECI model in university libraries and serves as a foundation for strengthening a culture of knowledge sharing.

Abstract

This research aims to determine strategies for developing librarian competency as well as supporting and inhibiting factors for developing librarian competency in the Pontianak City State University Library. The method for exploring data in the field uses interviews and observations using the case study method with qualitative descriptive analysis. The informants used were the heads of libraries from the three universities and 2 librarians each in each college library. The results of the research show that the problems found in three State University libraries in Pontianak City include the low skills of librarians in using technology and the problem of educational qualifications of leaders who do not meet the standards for running university libraries in 2015 and 2017. Conclusions from the research show that the strategy is carried out through competency certification for equality as well as through training, workshops, national seminars in the field of librarians, becoming members of the IPI, and involving librarians in competitions for outstanding librarians. Efforts to improve librarian competence include leadership support and the availability of funds. Meanwhile, the inhibiting factor is a lack of awareness of increasing competence through education and support from the work environment.

Abstract

This study aimed to identify factors that influence information searches by students of Food Technology, Padjadjaran University, related to knowledge and skills in accessing information with the Anomalous State of Knowledge (ASK) theory. The study was conducted using a quantitative method, with research data collected through questionnaires consisting of closed questions (matrix questions) and open questions (contingency questions) as research instruments. The results of this study stated that (1) there is a significant relationship between the breadth of knowledge factor and information search actions. (2) there is a significant relationship between the information search skill factor and information access. This significant relationship is proven by the significance value of t <0.05 (result t <0.001). (3) The factor of students' ability to connect new information with information searches does not have a significant relationship, with a significance value of t > 0.05 (result t = 0.44), in the sense that students tend to experience knowledge anomalies, by the ASK Theory (Anomalous State of Knowledge). Then, the researcher suggests that students can always search for information to improve their knowledge and skills by utilizing technological developments (access to digital library services and other learning aids) and involving librarians in helping to improve knowledge and skills to find information to help in the learning process. This is because searching for information is not only limited to one source but can also be from comparing or adding other sources of information.

Abstract

Archives are a collection of documents that contain information and have useful value for a certain period of time. Every information institution, especially in the archives sector, needs to have archive management, including recording, storage, maintenance and depreciation. The Bandung City Library and Archives Service as an information institution should have good archive management. Therefore, researchers are interested in conducting this research to find out how archives are managed and the obstacles experienced by the Bandung City Library and Archives Service. This research uses descriptive qualitative research methods and data collection methods through observation, interviews and documentation techniques. The research conclusion is that archive management at the Bandung City Library and Archives Service is in accordance with Law Number 49 of 2009 concerning archives, starting from creation, storage, maintenance and depreciation. However, in its management the Library and Archives Service still has obstacles, such as a lack of human resources and a lack of infrastructure in the form of space to accommodate archives.

Abstract

This research is qualitative research with case studies, using ERG (Existence, Relatedness, Growth) theory to analyze the motivation of librarians in following the call for paper (CFP) and call for best practice (CFBP). This study aims to determine the motivations, factors, and obstacles librarians face when participating in these activities. The results showed that 13 librarians had experience participating in CFP and CFBP activities. Librarian motivation has fulfilled the ERG motivation theory. The Existence category includes the existence and welfare of institutions and the profession's demands. The Relatedness category includes networking and knowledge sharing, while the Growth category includes self-actualization, achievement, rewards, and competency development. Factors that influence librarian motivation include internal factors such as self-development, love to write and try new things, increased experience, self-satisfaction, and existence. External factors include performance for the fulfillment of credit and portfolio figures, library accreditation, promotion of institutions, getting welfare from institutions, competitions, friend invitations, and the theme and location of seminars. However, librarians face several obstacles, such as limited time, funding, licensing bureaucracy, difficulty finding writing partners, finding references, lack of confidence, nervousness during presentations, and lack of enthusiasm for writing. This research provides valuable insights for the professional development of librarians and increases their participation in scholarly activities. It is expected that librarians will be more active in participating in scientific activities to increase the productivity of scientific work that impacts themselves and institutions.
