Abstract

A palm oil plantation company often experiences late payment of wages. This happens because in the Operational Fund Request (PDO) creating process, which start from the input of document on the realization of work in the field up to the payment of wages, it does not run according to the specified time. The purpose of this research was to propose an improvement in the PDO creating process to prevent late payment of wages using the Value Stream Mapping (VSM) method. This research was conducted on February 20th – May 27th, 2017 at a palm oil plantation company in Central Sulawesi. Data processing is carried out by the step of using the value stream mapping principle. The result showed that the proposed improvement using value stream mapping (VSM) is to create a future state map which is a concept of improvement in the PDO creating process up to the payment of wages for harvesting employees by eliminating wastes in the current state map is a waiting/delay time.

Abstract

The problem always occurs with solar panel users, is the efficiency of solar panels and monitoring of solar panel generating systems. This causes the need for a solar tracker and monitoring system. The tracker system functions to increase the productivity of solar panels and the monitoring system serves to provide information on the condition of the productivity of solar panels. Internet of Things (IoT) allows devices to communicate like sending and receiving data. This study designed a tracker and monitoring system consisting of Arduino Mega, Esp8266-12F, LDR sensors and servo motors. Simple web application is able to provide information in realtime to users, so they can monitor the productivity of solar panels. When the solar panel generates electricity and passes the INA219 current sensor, the sensor will send an analog signal to Arduino Mega which will be forwarded to Esp8266 to send sensor data information sent to a simple web, then the data is accessed by the Google Chrome application as a user interface. The LDR sensor can detect the level of sunlight and send a signal to arduino mega which will then be processed and send commands to the servo motor to move following the arduino mega command to the direction of the light source.

Abstract

PT SIM is a leading automotive company in Indonesia which produces two-wheeled vehicles and four-wheeled vehicles. This company requires a lot of raw materials or components to make these products. The components are imported from local and imported suppliers. Especially for imported components, storage is carried out in a warehouse before it is used or produced. PT SIM has used a Warehouse Management System (WMS) to facilitate the control of the inventory, because the amount is very much. Even though we have used an integrated system, but there are no indicators to measure the success of warehouse operations, so it is necessary to do research on indicators of warehouse performance success. The purpose of this study is to design a way to measure the performance of the Warehouse against targets that have been determined using the Key Performance Indicator (KPI). The KPIs element used refers to the activity at the warehouse, ie Receiving, Put away, Storage, Unpacking, Picking and Fulfilment, so it will be determined formulation that can describe a value that can be measured its success. The result of this study indicate that there is a performance report format that can be used to measure the success of warehouse operations at PT SIM.

Abstract

Soybeans will respond differently to shade conditions. One of the obstacles on sheltered land is the lack of sunlight intensity and light energy that can be received by plants. Adaptation to shade conditions can be achieved if plants have the mechanism of capture and use of light efficiently. The purpose of this experiment was to determine the effect of shade on morphological characters, and physiology on Ceneng soybean varieties. The experimental design used was Split Plot Design with the main plot was the level of shade and subplot are soybean varieties . The results showed that the shade treatment affected the growth and yield of soybean by decreasing the percentage of growth in germination, root dry weight, number of root nodules, anthocyanin pigment content, leaf total sugar content, slower flower emergence time, number of flowers at harvest, amount total pods and pod weight, but on the contrary there was no increase in shade-free soybean plants. While the shade treatment also influenced the increase in growth and yield of soybean plants by increasing plant height, number of leaves, number of branches, length, width, leaf area index, chlorophyll a pigment, chlorophyll b and rubberenoid, canopy wet weight, canopy dry weight, moisture content canopy, root water content, decreased number of empty pods and number of filled pods, but vice versa did not occur in shade-free soybean plants.

Abstract

A Boiler is an energy conversion machine that converts water to steam, which occurs due to continuous heating. The steam produced can be used for all equipment that requires steam at a palm oil mill (POM), especially power turbines. In addition, other equipment are sterilizers, pressing station, kernel recovery station and clarification station. The quality and quantity of steam produced must be based on their need, because if it is not achieved it will disrupt the processing in the POM. This study purpose to calculate the quantity of steam needed for palm oil processing in POM. This research was conducted on May 7th until May 12th, 2018. This study used a descriptive method with data gathering techniques by observation, documentation and interview. The result showed that the average steam discharge was 30,523 Kg/hour, while the steam requirement for turbine operation with an actual power of 1,200 Kw was 26,400 Kg and for the palm oil processing was 24,750 Kg/hour. Steam discharge generated by the boiler is over than the mill capacity of 45 Tons/hour, so that the steam discharge generated by the boiler is sufficient to meet the steam need in the POM.

Abstract

This study discusses the comparison of transportation of fresh fruit bunches (FFB) between dump truck and ordinary truck during the time the plants are produced, conducted at PT Sinar Dinamika Kapuas, Sintang District, West Kalimantan Province, since April 2015. The purpose of this study is to find out the advantage and disadvantage of dump truck and ordinary truck, and to compare them as a mean of transporting FFB on palm oil plantation. This study used 10 trucks as samples, consisting of 5 dump trucks and 5 ordinary trucks. Data gathering was taken from the FFB daily daily report data for the April 2015 period. The result of this study showed that dump truck transported an average of 8,438 kg FFB/rit and ordinary truck of 9,139 kg FFB/rit. The income of the dump truck is Rp 13,046,196 and the ordinary truck is Rp 14,161,532. The income from the dump truck is Rp 821,695 to PT SDK, Rp 706,388 to PT BPJ and Rp 805,147 to PT KSP. The revenue from the ordinary truck sent Rp 857,335 to PT SDK, Rp 749,038 to PT BPJ and Rp 860,415 to PT KSP. The difference in income sent Rp 35,640 to PT SDK, Rp 42,650 to PT BPJ and Rp 55,286 to PT KSP. The difference occurs when loading in the loading ramp because the ordinary truck cost Rp 50,000/rit.

Abstract

This research discusses the calcium carbonate inventory control system which is a important material in palm oil mills (POM). This chemical is used to separate the kernel and shell. The purpose of this research is to forecast of the calcium carbonate demand and to control of the stock. This research is a case study in a POM located in Jambi Province. The research data comes from company document, especially the daily production report for January - May 2019. The method used in this research is descriptive analysis and simulation. Descriptive analysis is used for historical data obtained from the company, while the simulation is used to forecast of the calcium carbonate demand for June - December 2019 using the Monte Carlo simulation method. The result showed that forecasting the calcium carbonate demand can be done through forecasting the FFB quantity processed in the POM, then simulating the ratio of calcium carbonate use to the FFB quantity processed using Monte Carlo simulation. Inventory control is done by applying safety stock and reorder point to avoid stockout condition, because the quantity of demand and the leadtime have various characteristic and probabilistic.

Abstract

The plantation of oil palm add urea fertilizer to meet the needs of plant nitrogen, but urea fertilizer is very easy to dissapear and can not be absorbed by plants. This research aims to determine the response of morphology on five years old mature oil palm to two ways of application urea fertilizer and to get the most effective way application urea fertilizer for growth of five years old mature oil palm. This research was conducted at Teaching Farm of Politeknik Kelapa Sawit Citra Widya Edukasi, Mekar Sari Village, Subang, Jawa Barat in July – December 2017.. The experiment was arranged in a completely randomized block design with one factor. There are two treatments: urea fertilizer not thawed (P1) and urea fertilizer thawed (P2). Each treatments were two replications, and each replications consisted of 2 sample plants so the total unit of experiments were 8 plants. Data were analized with analysis of variance with α 5 %, If there is a significant treatment effect, the further analysis using LSD (Least Significant Differences). The result showed that the fertilization of solid and liquid urea through biopories did not significantly affect for all variabels from the beginning to the end of the research and the application of solid and liquid urea fertilizer showed the same effectiveness for growth of five years old mature oil palm.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know the growth response of oil palm seedlings at pre nursery to the shade treatment of oil palm leaves. Research on the effect of palm oil leaves as a shade on the growth of oil palm seeddlings at the pre nursery stage. Conducted on March 5 until May 28, 2014 at PT Mahakam Sawit Plantation, Tanjung Harapan Village, Sebulu Timur Subdistrict, Kutai Kartanegara, Kalimantan Province, using Randomized Compete Design with a non-factorial design with 2 treatments, each treatment consisted of 6 replications. Thus the number of seeds used as many as 12 seeds of treatment A is without shade (control) and C is the shade of the leaves of oil palm. The parameters observed were seedling height, stem diameter, number of leaves and total leaf area. The results showed that the treatment of shade of oil palm leaves significantly affected the growth of oil palm seedlins with values of seedlings height, stem diameter, number of leaves and total leaf area at 12 week after planting each is 21.50 cm, 0.93 cm, 3.5 strands and 64,75 cm². The shade treatment resulted in significantly different oil palm seedlings growth wit no shade treatment. The shade treatment resulted in seedlings height, stem diameter, number of leaves and total leaf area greater than the treatment without shade with milai difference of 29.86 %, 25.01 %, 14.29 % and 46.64 %.

Abstract

Jumlah limbah TKKS (Tandan Kosong Kelapa Sawit) dan fiber kelapa sawit sangat melimpah dan belum banyak dimanfaatkan oleh masyarakat. Salah satu cara yang dapat dilakukan untuk memperkecil jumlah limbah tersebut yaitu dengan cara memanfaatkan limbah TKKS dan fiber tersebut sebagai media tanam jamur merang putih (Vorvariella volvacea). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas limbah tandan kosong dan fiber kelapa sawit sebagai media tanam jamur merang putih. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada Oktober ? Desember 2017 di Perumahan Perhubungan Darat Desa Cibuntu, Kecamatan Cibitung, Kabupaten Bekasi, Jawa Barat. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimental dengan 3 perlakuan yang terdiri dari: P1 (media tanam jerami), P2 (media tanam TKKS), dan P3 (media tanam fiber kelapa sawit). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian  limbah TKKS dan fiber kelapa sawit dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai media tanam jamur Vorvariella volvacea dengan jumlah produksi jamur merang putih tertinggi terdapat pada media tanam TKKS yaitu sebanyak 557,4 gram selama 21 hari produksi, fiber sebanyak 475 gram selama 17 hari produksi dan jerami sebanyak 57,6 gram selama 5 hari.
