Jurnal Citradirga adalah jurnal ilmiah yang diterbitkan oleh Program Studi Desain Komunikasi Visual Universitas Ma Chung. Citradirga mempublikasikan artikel luaran penelitian, gagasan konseptual, dan review kepustakaan dalam cakupan rumpun ilmu seni, desain, dan media, pada 1) Sub Rumpun Ilmu Kesenian, dalam Bidang Ilmu Seni Intermedia (688), 2) Sub Rumpun Ilmu Media, dalam Bidang Ilmu : a) Fotografi (701); dan b) Televisi/Videografi/Sinematografi (702); serta 3) Sub Rumpun Ilmu Desain, dalam Bidang Ilmu Desain Komunikasi Visual (708). Artikel luaran penelitian dapat berupa ringkasan hasil penelitian dasar (kajian, kritik, tinjauan, atau evaluasi), penelitian terapan (perancangan atau penciptaan), dan peneltian pengembangan (research & development), baik yang bersifat monodisipliner maupun interdisipliner. Dalam Bidang Ilmu Seni Intermedia dapat terbagi menjadi beberapa topik semisal Seni Video, Instalasi Video, dan topik lain yang mengeksplorasi dan mengintegrasikan seni visual dan teknologi. Dalam Ilmu Media, dapat berupa topik seperti Fotografi, Videografi, Film Fiksi maupun Dokumenter, dan topik lain yang berkaitan dengan Foto dan Video. Adapun dalam Bidang Ilmu Desain Komunikasi Visual dapat berupa topik seperti Desain Grafis, Infografis, Brand Identity, Ilustrasi, Desain Kemasan, Multimedia Interaktif, Animasi, Game Design, Apps Design, dan topik lain yang berkaitan dengan komunikasi visual.

Abstract

The city of Cilegon has natural and cultural tourism potential that is worth visiting. This research aims to produce a digital, interactive, and comprehensive Tourist Map as an information channel and comprehensive Tourist Guide for both domestic and international tourists. This applied research uses a qualitative approach, with data collected from reliable sources such as official websites, tourism brochures, and interviews with local residents. The result of this research is an interactive and informative digital pamphlet in PDF format. The evaluation results of this Tourist Map show that it is highly useful and flexible, as the public can access the map digitally through new media (social media) or via traditional print media.

Abstract

Djoko Pekik has an expressive realist painting style. He often embellishes populist values in almost every painting. Many of his works contain social criticism and political tragedies. That is why his paintings are so influential. Starting his painting career in 1958 by entering ASRI Yogyakarta, Djoko Pekik continued to revolutionise himself until now his name is well known in the art world. He even founded Sanggar Bumi Tarung in 1961 with a number of his friends. The collective art idea was later known to be affiliated with the People's Cultural Institute (Lekra). The purpose of formalistic criticism is to describe the configuration of formal aspects and noble values related to the elements of painting formation. The target of art criticism will be more inclined to the visual elements consisting of colour, line, and texture. The art criticism method used is formalistic criticism with description stages, formal analysis stages, interpretation stages, and evaluation stages. The results of this formalistic criticism are in the form of visual analysis data of paintings and interpretations of noble values related to the elements of the formation of paintings.

Abstract

This study focuses on designing social campaign content to build a positive image of rice farmers among youth, addressing stereotypes of agriculture as dirty, exhausting, unprofitable, and low-prestige. The campaign aims to shift negative perceptions, raise awareness, and foster appreciation for rice farming while encouraging generational renewal. A qualitative approach with Design Thinking methodology was employed, encompassing empathy, definition, ideation, prototyping, and testing stages. Data were collected through farmer interviews, field observations, and relevant literature reviews. The outcome comprises 12 social campaign posters utilizing visual metaphors to construct a positive farmer image. Media and subject-matter experts validated the posters’ effectiveness in conveying messages and achieving campaign goals. Target audience feedback further indicated high acceptance and appreciation levels. The findings suggest that visually metaphorical campaigns can reshape youth perceptions, highlighting the potential of strategic communication in agricultural revitalization.

Abstract

The painting "Blekok Cafe" by Eko Alif, created in 2024, was chosen as the research object to explore the messages and values ​​in the artwork. The researcher felt complex emotions in this painting, in the form of a contradiction between luxury and anger in the figure of the Blekok bird that appears alienated from its natural habitat. This study aims to identify and analyze the values ​​and synthesis contained in the work, especially in the context of the relationship between humans, nature, and other living things. The method used is descriptive qualitative with a holistic critical approach. Data collection was carried out through interviews with the artist, observation of the artwork, and analysis of documents related to the social and environmental context. Data were collected from three main sources: genetic information (from the artist), objective information (from the artwork), and affective information (from devotees). A triangulation of methods was used to validate the findings obtained. The results of the study show that this painting depicts Eko Alif's anxiety about the negative impact of human activities on nature, especially on the disturbed habitat of the blekok bird. The social value contained in this painting is the importance of reminding each other to maintain harmony between humans, nature, and other living things. The painting "Blekok Cafe" conveys a strong message about the need for awareness of the existence of nature and other living things that are often overlooked in the materialistic human world.

Abstract

Adolescents are the most vulnerable age group to experience body image insecurity due to social pressure and unrealistic beauty standards promoted by media and society. This photographic essay project aims to represent the negative impacts of such insecurity through a visual medium. The methodology includes literature review and in-depth interviews with individuals who have personal experiences related to body image issues. Findings reveal that negative body perception can lead to psychological problems such as anxiety, depression, and eating disorders. Through a visual storytelling approach, this project conveys the emotions, body language, and internal conflicts experienced by the subjects. The conclusion of this design project highlights photography as an effective educational and reflective medium that can raise awareness, portray complex psychological realities, and foster empathy toward mental health and body image issues.

Abstract

Social media has significantly changed the landscape of art and culture. This article examines how social media plays a role in shaping the production, distribution, and appreciation of art using Pierre Bourdieu’s perspective, particularly the concepts of cultural capital, social capital, and the art scene. Using a qualitative method based on literature study, this article finds that social media algorithms act as ‘digital curators’ who determine the exposure of artworks. Artists who have high social capital are more likely to gain recognition than those who rely solely on cultural capital. This creates a new dynamic in the contemporary art ecosystem. This study provides insights into how artists can utilize social media without losing the aesthetic value and originality of their work.

Abstract

In the K-Pop industry, mascots are one of the most effective visual media for strengthening a group's identity and building a connection with fans. However, not all groups have official mascots, including ENHYPEN, which is known for its strong visual concept. This study aims to explore the possibility of designing an ENHYPEN mascot based on the group's visual elements and fan preferences. The method used is a mixed method, including observation of fan-made characters, online questionnaire distribution, and interviews. The collected data includes audience preferences for visual styles such as eye shape, color, body proportions, and symbolic elements associated with each member. This study focuses on how these elements can be analyzed and interpreted in the context of mascot character design as part of a K-Pop group's visual identity strategy.

Abstract

Kurangnya fasilitas untuk mengakses informasi menyebabkan transportasi umum di Kota Malang dinilai kurang efektif dalam memenuhi kebutuhan mobilitas masyarakat. Hal itu mengakibatkan minat masyarakat terhadap transportasi umum di Kota Malang menurun dan lebih memilih menggunakan kendaraan pribadi. Sebagai upaya mendukung penggunaan transportasi umum di Kota Malang diperlukan solusi digital yang memudahkan dalam mengakses informasi transportasi umum tersebut. Perancangan ini bertujuan untuk merancang aplikasi “Numpak” sebagai alat bantu navigasi angkot dengan fitur live tracking dan informasi rute. Proses perancangan ini menggunakan metode design thinking yang meliputi empathize, define, ideate, prototype, dan test. Perancangan ini menghasilkan prototype aplikasi sebagai media utama serta beberapa media pendukung sebagai sarana promosi. Dari segi visual, hasil perancangan ini menggunakan karakter desain modern minimalis dengan tipografi sans serif dan palet warna monokrom biru dan putih, guna menciptakan tampilan yang mudah dipahami. Aplikasi ini diharapkan dapat menjadi solusi digital yang mendukung efektivitas transportasi umum di Kota Malang.
