Abstract

Perineal wounds are a common complication in Dysmenorrhea is menstrual pain commonly experienced by adolescent girls and can interfere with daily learning activities. Non-pharmacological management such as turmeric-tamarind decoction offers a safe and accessible natural alternative. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of turmeric-tamarind decoction in reducing dysmenorrhea among Grade X students at SMAN 1 Rimba Melintang, Rokan Hilir Regency. This pre-experimental study used a one-group pretest-posttest design, conducted from December 2024 to January 2025 on 36 respondents selected through total sampling. Data were collected using a Numeric. Rating Scale (NRS) and analyzed using the Wilcoxon test. Results showed that before the intervention, most respondents experienced moderate pain (69.4%) and controlled severe pain (30.6%); after the intervention, 61.1% experienced mild pain, 25.0% moderate pain, and 13.9% reported no pain. The Wilcoxon test showed a significant decrease in pain scores (p=0.000). Turmeric-tamarind decoction is effective in reducing dysmenorrhea and may be considered a complementary therapy for adolescent girls.

Abstract

Exclusive breastfeeding is one of the efforts to improve children's nutritional status in the first 1000 days of life (HPK).Currently, data from the Central Statistics Agency shows that the number of working mothers in Indonesia has reached 52.74 million people working in various sectors. Lactation counseling is a factor that can support exclusive breastfeeding because it can increase the knowledge and attitudes of pregnant women. This study aims to determine the effect of lactation counseling on knowledge, attitudes, and breastfeeding practices for 6 months. The type of research used is a quasi-experiment. The population and sample in this study were all pregnant women who came to the Kenanga health center in Kenten Village to undergo antenatal care. Data collection was collected by conducting interviews using questionnaires. Data analysis was performed by analysis using chi square test and multivariate analysis by logistic regression. The research results show that there is an influence of lactation counseling with breastfeeding with an Od Ratio value of 0.001 and there is an influence between knowledge and breastfeeding with a niai od Ratio of 0.004 which is smaller than the chi sqaure value of 0.05. This research is expected to improve performance use.

Abstract

Perineal wounds are a common complication among postpartum mothers caused by spontaneous laceration or episiotomy, which, if not properly managed, may lead to bleeding or infection. Green betel leaf (Piper betle) decoction is a promising non-pharmacological alternative owing to its antiseptic properties and its potential to accelerate wound healing. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of green betel leaf decoction on perineal wound healing among postpartum mothers at Rimba Melintang Community Health Center, Rokan Hilir Regency. This quantitative study used a quasi-experimental two-group pretest-posttest design, conducted from June to July 2025 among 32 respondents divided into 16 intervention and 16 control participants selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using the REEDA scoring observation sheet and analyzed univariately and bivariately using the Wilcoxon and Mann-Whitney tests. Results showed a significant decrease in wound scores in the intervention group (p=0.000) and a significant difference between groups on the Mann-Whitney test (p=0.001). Green betel leaf decoction was effective in accelerating perineal wound healing and may be considered a safe complementary therapy for postpartum mothers.

Abstract

Moringa leaves are one of the plants rich in protein, vitamins, and iron. There are 450 mg of iron (Fe) in every kilogram of moringa leaves, which can be used to prevent various conditions such as low hemoglobin levels during pregnancy. This study aimed to determine the effect of giving moringa leaf vegetables on increasing hemoglobin levels in second- and third-trimester pregnant women in Karya Mukti Village, Rimba Melintang District, Rokan Hilir Regency. This was a quantitative study using a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest design model. The study was conducted in Karya Mukti Village, Rimba Melintang District, Rokan Hilir Regency, in June and July 2025. The population in this study consisted of all second- and third-trimester pregnant women with low hemoglobin levels in Karya Mukti Village, with a sample size of 25 respondents. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analysis with a dependent t-test. The results showed that the mean hemoglobin level before consuming moringa leaf vegetables was 9.876, and after consuming moringa leaf vegetables, the mean value increased to 10.952. There was an effect of giving moringa leaf vegetables on increasing hemoglobin levels in pregnant women in Karya Mukti Village, Rokan Hilir Regency (p = 0.000).

Abstract

Sore nipples are a common problem experienced by breastfeeding mothers during the postpartum period and can cause pain, discomfort, and disruption to exclusive breastfeeding. This condition is generally caused by improper breastfeeding techniques, suboptimal baby attachment, and mothers' lack of knowledge about breast care. This study aims to determine the causes and management of sore nipples in breastfeeding mothers. The research method used a descriptive approach with case studies of postpartum mothers who experienced sore nipples. Data collection was conducted through interviews, observations, physical examinations, and documentation of midwifery care. The results showed that sore nipples are influenced by improper breastfeeding positioning and attachment. Management provided included education on correct breastfeeding techniques, maintaining breast hygiene, regular breastfeeding, and recommendations for applying breast milk to the nipples after breastfeeding. After continuous midwifery care, the condition of the nipples improved and mothers were able to breastfeed more comfortably. This study is expected to provide information for health workers in improving education on breast care and correct breastfeeding techniques for postpartum mothers.

Abstract

Antenatal care is the second pillar in Safe Motherhood which is a means for pregnant women to be more prepared in facing childbirth. The main cause of unpreparedness of pregnant women for childbirth is the lack of knowledge of childbirth preparation such as donor preparation, costs, health insurance, and anxiety towards childbirth. Knowledge and preparation for childbirth are everything that is understood and prepared in terms of welcoming the birth of a child by pregnant women. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of flip chart media on increasing the knowledge of pregnant women about childbirth preparation in the Buaran Health Center area, Pekalongan City. This study used a quasi-experimental design with a one group pretest posttest design research design. The study population was adolescent girls in Pekalongan City, the sampling technique used a simple random sampling technique. The results of the study showed that there was an increase in knowledge in pregnant women before and after being given health education on childbirth preparation using flip chart learning media (significance value 0.000 (p value <0.05). Pregnant women are expected to be more active in seeking information about childbirth preparation not only through health workers but also through social media such as the internet, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and others.
