Abstract

A thorough knowledge of dentocraniofacial growth and development is necessary for every dentist. From philosophies stand point, the ontology of to comprehend condition observed understanding the growth and development processes that orthodon-tics. Meanwhile epistemology, methods of studying about growth and development in orthodontic treatment has progressed a lot. Axiologically, dentists and orthodontists are heavily involved in the development of not just the dentition but the entire den-tofacial complex, a practitioner may be able to manipulate facial growth for the benefit of the patient and malocclusion treat-ment. It is not possible to do so without a thorough understanding of both the pattern of normal growth and the mechanism that underlie it.

Abstract

Relationships between doctors and patients in the field of medicine, also known as therapeutic transactions, in which both parties have rights and obligations that must be carried out fairly and in a balanced manner. A contractual notion or agreement, which is a written or oral agreement made by two or more parties, is required for the connection to be balanced. In health care, there are two sorts of legal ties between patients and doctors: therapeutic contracts and relationships governed by laws and regulations. When a first relationship is formed, it begins with a (unwritten) agreement that assumes both parties' wishes would be met once an agreement is reached. Regulatory interactions typically occur because doctors' obligations are imposed by their profession without the requirement for patient permission. In interdependent health services, the contractual idea relationship between doctors and patients can be balanced if each party understands their rights and obligations. Either a lawsuit based on default or an alleged legal infraction is the issue. The plaintiff (patient) must be able to show that the defendant's (doctor's) fault or carelessness caused the patient's injury. Both parties must be aware of their rights and obligations in order for the contractual relationship between a doctor and a patient to be balanced. The most crucial thing to understand about the contractual notion in prosthodontic specialized health services is ethics. Dental ethics is defined as the application of moral concepts and virtues to the profession of dentistry.

Abstract

Objective: To compare the compressive strength of three types of commercial lithium disilicate ceramics. Methods: Three groups of lithium disilicate ceramics (IPS e.max Press, Vintage LD Press, and Celtra Press) total of twelve cylindrical specimens (diameter 4 mm x length 6 mm) were produced by laboratory processing. The compressive strength was conducted using Shimad-zu universal testing machine with load cell F 50 kN, cross head speed of 1 mm/s. Micromorphology were observed using scan-ning electron microscope. Anova test and Weibull test were performed and p<0.05 was considered significant. Results: There are no significant differences between three groups of lithium disilicate dental ceramics compressive strength (p=0.531). How-ever, IPS e.max Press group show higher compressive strength compared to the other two materials. IPS e.max Press and Vin-tage LD Press groups show significantly higher coefficient corelation than Celtra Press group. Conclusion: IPS e.max Press lithium disilicate dental ceramic have higher compressive strength compared to the other groups, but the reliability of Celtra Press is lower than those of lithium disilicate dental ceramics.

Abstract

Introduction: As someone ages, the bone quality may change and may be seen on mandibular bone. The changes in mandibular bone quality may be assessed using a panoramic radiograph. The aim of this study was to describe mandibular bone quality and to know the correlation between age and mandibular bone quality on panoramic ra-diograph. Methods: Cross sectional correlation analysis; the population was panoramic radiograph archives of patients in Dental Radiology Installation RSGM Universitas Padjadjaran within the range of age 13-59 years old when the radiograph was taken so that obtained 48 samples. The mandibular bone quality was obtained with man-dibular alveolar bone resorption index (MM ratio) method using EzPax-Plus software. Results: The highest ave-rage number of MM ratio was 2.384 and the lowest was 2.2856. The results showed correlation coefficient bet-ween age and MM ratio on right mandible calculated with Spearman’s rank (rs) was -0.046 (p-value=0.757) and rs=-0.058 (p-value=0.697) between age and MM ratio on left mandible. Conclusion: There is no correlation bet-ween age and mandibular bone quality on panoramic radiographs in RSGM Unpad based on MM Ratio.

Abstract

Heat cured acrylic resin is a dental material that widely used as removable denture base due to its biocompatible, easy to obtain, inexpensive and ease of processing but has a disadvantage of being fracture. The purpose of this study was to determine the diffe-ference in the impact strength test of the HCAR after adding pineapple leaf fibre. Post-test only control groups design was used as laboratory experimental. This research divided into 4 groups, those are without addition pineapple leaf fibres, addition of 5%, 10%, 15% pineapple leaf fibres. Impact strength was performed by charphy impact test. After getting the mean results of the im-pact test, the Kruskal Wallis test was then performed that showed that there is a significant difference between the group without addition pineapple leaf fibre and the group with the addition of pineapple leaf fibre a significance of p-value 0.001 (p<0.05). The plate without addition of pineapple leaf fibre, has a higher impact strength than the concentration of 5%, 10% and 15%. So it can be concluded that the addition of too high concentration pineapple leaf fibre causes the impact strength of the acrylic resin decreased.

Abstract

The All-on-4® concept is one of the treatment procedures used in total edentulous patients and as an alternative to the routine care of conventional dentures with successful results in short term, long term and retrospective studies. What needs to be con-sidered in alternative treatments lies in the success of the prosthesis and its prosthodontic perspective which involves the princi-ples of occlusion. This article reviews the All-on-4® concept and its prosthodontic aspects. All-on-4® style dental implant treat-ment is a multi-step process with many potential complications. Reports of success rates for dental implants and final prosthe-ses have been widely published while the dental literature on the barriers and difficulties associated with the treatment of dental implants with the All-on-4 concept has not been widely reported. In the current article, the author describes common problems before, during, and after All-on-4 style dental implant treatment of more than 500 arches and discusses methods for overcoming those barriers.
