Abstract

Teachers are the spearhead of educational success. Learning will be enhanced if the teacher is able to provide fun learning and meaningful activities. However, to be a fun teacher is not an easy task to create and implement. There are so many issues that often emerge, one of them is the inability of teachers to detect learning modality as the first step in determining the appropriate learning strategies in the classroom. This misunderstanding ultimately leads to uniform learning that causes problems in learning. In addition, the lack of understanding and use of ice breaking as one way to break the ice in the class and selection of ice breaking activities in accordance with teaching materials is worth contributing. Thus, these two things are still very necessary to understand in managing the class because thesetwo things lead to pedagogic competence that must be owned by teachers according to Law no 4 of 2005. Abstract

Gapoktan Al-Barokah of Lombok Kulon, Wonosari Subdistrict, in Bondowoso Regency has started milling organic rice using husking machine thus produced raw red rice. Raw red rice is rice grain that has its husks removed. The study established that raw red rice is actually covered by hard husk which contains Phytic Acid that could obstruct nutrition absorption to the body. Other drawbacks from raw red rice is that soaking is required before cooking, the texture of the cooked rice is hard to eat, and its nutrition is difficult to digest. These make it less favorable among society therefore it is not in a good sale so far, resulting in low revenue of the organic rice farmers. Therefore, this program was initiated to enrich the quality of red rice products through adding a step into the milling process which is milling using sugawa machine to remove the hard husks. The final product expected from the program was organic embryo red rice that is easy for cooking, soft textured cooked rice, and digestable rice in order to increase the chance of optimal nutrition absorption to the body. Among several solutions offered in the program include supplying and testing a milling machine, production training and guidance, socializing and marketing. The first solution administered was supplying and testing a Sugawa machine to mill raw rice into embryo red and brown rice. Then, it was followed by providing a Sugawa pressure cooker tool to mix derived product from the materials used such as embryo rice and bran, that is embryo porridge and bran cereal. The training conducted in the program contains guidance for applying the SOP of producing embryo rice and its derivatives. Abstract

Language is a skill that insists approach and certain strategy to master it. ESA (Engaged-Study-Activate) is an approach used in learning foreign language based on the theory that the success of learning language is determined by the factor of involvement in learned language environment. Therefore, the ideal way of learning language is that it is done in the country in which the language is used as the first language. When it is difficult to be achieved, it needs the availability of artificial learning atmosphere that gives situation as if the students are in English speaking community. This training needed three main activities: involvement, study, and language-based activities. By using those three main activities, the program of English skill improvement for the teachers of Islamic Junior high school in Tugu and Ngaliyan District was held. The result of the study through guidance shows that participants’ English skills increased. Although it is not too significant, the improvement of their English skills proves that ESA approach was appropriate to be used to maximize participants’ learning achievement. Its less significance was caused by several factors, they are: learning activities (offline learning) was held in every Friday, at the time teachers had felt tired. The offline program was also only held once a week although they were facilitated with online learning program. Another important factor that must be considered is that the teachers had many other activities related to their Islamic social organization activity. However, they still had high motivation in joining the program. They also had a good commitment to learn English. This factor had good effect towards the learning achievement improvement although it is not too high

Abstract

Most of the livelihoods of Sukodono Village’s people, Pujer District, Bondowoso Regency are farming; various kinds of agricultural products produced by the residents of Sukodono Village are white AC sweet potato. But, the yield of many white AC sweet potatoes which is not sold well causes decays and makes farmers give up. When I was a field supervisor of KKN Unmuh Jember, the KKN students and I promoted the Nafiah Posdaya which had once been formed. With the hope to overcome the problem of the white AC sweet potato farmers, namely by processing white AC sweet potato into chips and cupcakes manually. Because of the limited manual equipment, the white AC sweet potato used for the basic ingredients of chips and cupcakes is still in small quantities. Also, chips which are produced manually are not crunchy; contain lots of oil, long time production process and small amount of production. To overcome this, product innovation needs to be done by making white ac sweet potato chips with vacuum frying and spinner technology as well as making white ac sweet potato cupcakes with an electric mixer to mix dough and oven it. The problem is those partners do not have the knowledge, skills and capital to develop and be innovation product white ac sweet potato. There are four main activities in the Community Partnership Program dedication activities that are carried out by providing material training and practicing (1) implementing vacuum frying and spinner machines to make white AC sweet potato chips (2) packing with beautiful package (3) making cupcake with basic ingredients from white AC sweet potato (4) marketing model based on E-commerce Web-based Information Technology. The results of this training are crispy white AC sweet potato chips with a distinctive sweet potato taste because the slices are thicker than the other chips and delicious white ac sweet potato cupcake with attractive toping is a promising market opportunity. It is expected that the Community Partnership Program activities can improve the welfare of partners.
