Abstract

BUMDes Lalayaan faces business and management problems. The brick printing equipment and mixer are not functioning, and the quality is not competitive, causing the business to fail. In addition, the administrators lack knowledge in managing BUMDes. The objective of this Community Service program is to provide solutions through equipment improvements and quality enhancements to concrete block mixtures in accordance with SNI standards, as well as to improve the social management of BUMDes. The activity method was carried out using participatory and community-based research, involving BUMDes managers and village officials in the entire activity process, from surveys to evaluations, conducted from July to November 2025 in Tatelu Village, North Minahasa Regency. By modifying the brick mixture using construction waste, BUMDes Lalayaan has produced innovative, environmentally friendly bricks that meet Indonesian National Standard specifications. This can increase competitiveness and support efforts to save the environment from unmanaged construction waste. The activities of repairing brick molding equipment and disseminating knowledge on brick manufacturing and financial management systems have increased the productivity of BUMDes through the knowledge and understanding of BUMDes administrators by 80%. Evaluation and assistance, including increased cooperation with third parties, can accelerate business development towards a more independent BUMDes Lalayaan in improving the welfare of the community in general.

Abstract

Gili Labak Island is one of the marine tourism destinations in Sumenep Regency that has a coastal ecosystem vulnerable to the pressures of tourism activities. The increase in the number of tourists without proper environmental management has caused damage to coral reefs and coastal erosion. This condition has reduced the quality of the environment and the beauty of the coastline. Conservation efforts through coral transplantation and casuarina tree planting are needed to maintain the sustainability of the ecosystem and tourism. In an effort to maintain the sustainability of this ecosystem, the “spider” frame is one of the most reliable transplantation methods due to its adaptive structure and efficient support for coral growth. The activities were carried out with the involvement of the community, students, and the village government. The methods used included environmental education, coral transplantation using spider frames, and the planting of 100 casuarina seedlings as an effort to rehabilitate the coastal ecosystem and sustainable tourism. These community service activities went well according to plan. Ten spider frames were successfully installed in shallow waters for coral transplantation, while one hundred casuarina seedlings were planted in coastal areas prone to abrasion. The active participation of the community, the supervisory group (Pokmaswas), and students from SMP Negeri 2 Saronggi contributed to the success of the activity. The coastal environment looks cleaner after the beach clean-up. This activity demonstrates the integration of marine and terrestrial conservation in supporting sustainable marine tourism management. With improved conditions, it is hoped that this will increase the number of tourists visiting and the economic level of the community on Gili Labak Island.

Abstract

Microscope skills are fundamental in biology education as they connect theoretical concepts with direct observation of cells and tissues. However, many students still struggle to operate microscopes properly, resulting in suboptimal practical sessions. This activity aimed to enhance students’ understanding and practical skills through structured microscope training. The training was conducted on May 18, 2025, at SMA Negeri 8 Ternate, involving 42 eleventh-grade students (20 males and 22 females) and three biology teachers. The program included theoretical explanation, demonstration, and hands-on practice using the cyanoacrylate-based leaf epidermis replica technique. Training effectiveness was evaluated through pre-test and post-test scores, practical skill rubrics, and participant satisfaction questionnaires. The training significantly improved students’ learning outcomes. The average knowledge score increased by 24.5% (from 59.8 to 84.3), while practical skills reached an average of 81.5% (“good” category). Participant satisfaction averaged 88%, with the highest ratings on clarity of instruction (3.6) and opportunity for discussion (3.7). Attendance (92%) and engagement in practice (91%) reflected high enthusiasm and active participation. These findings indicate that structured, hands-on training supported by repeated practice and interactive facilitation effectively enhances both conceptual and procedural competencies in microscopy. The model also promotes collaboration and strengthens students’ scientific skills. Microscope training at SMA Negeri 8 Ternate proved effective in improving students’ knowledge, skills, and motivation. This training model is recommended for broader application to strengthen biology practicum competencies and can be adapted for other school laboratory topics.

Abstract

Community Service (PKM) is a form of knowledge and technology transfer from universities to the community to improve the capacity and welfare of the target population. This PKM activity aims to increase the added value of catfish cultivation through product diversification and the application of appropriate technology to catfish processing and marketing groups (Poklahsar) in Tlogorejo Village, Bojonegoro Regency. The implementation method includes field observation, problem identification, outreach, training, and hands-on product processing practice. The main challenge faced by partners is limited knowledge and skills in processing catfish into value-added products, resulting in the harvest generally being sold fresh with relatively low economic value. Therefore, training is provided on catfish-based product diversification and mentoring on the application of appropriate technology to produce safe and high-quality products. The results of the activity indicate that partners are able to produce a variety of diversified processed catfish products, including catfish nuggets, catfish dumplings, and catfish dragon legs. The application of appropriate processing technology contributes to improving product quality, consumer acceptance, and potential sales value. Furthermore, this activity enhances partners' knowledge and skills in fishery product processing and opens up opportunities for developing businesses based on processed catfish products. This Community Service Program (PKM) activity is expected to serve as a model for empowering catfish farmers by increasing the added value of their aquaculture products, expanding fishery product diversification, and supporting local income and food security.
