Abstract

The active land used for potato production in Pasuruan Regency is 3,000 ha, contributing 60% of the potato needs in East Java Province. The yield of potatoes from 3,000 ha is only 450 ha (15%) which is capable of producing 25 tonnes per ha, while the remaining 2.5 ha is only capable of producing 10-15 tonnes per ha. The difference in the productivity of potato plants is a result of the use of potato seeds that are not of good quality. The goal of this activity is that partners who are members of the Sari Rejo Farmer Group can produce potato seeds independently. As well as being able to distribute potato seeds widely to other areas. UMM established the Sari Rejo Farmer Group as a partner farmer group in the activity of producing Rooted Apical Cuttings potato seeds. The activity began with the acclimatization process to get the main plant, from the main plant the cuttings were carried out so that the seeds of rooted shoot cuttings were produced. The selection of these partners is based on the fact that the members have a high opportunity and interest in developing quality potato seeds. To overcome the existing problems, tutorial methods, training, and demonstration plots at partner locations are used, as well as partner group assistance. In its implementation, partners can provide land for demonstration plots and can maintain plants during the activity. The results so far, farmers have understood the potato seed plantlet acclimatization technology, so that mother plants are produced. Farmers have been able to produce seeds in the form of rooted apical cuttings independently so they can produce G2 class potato seeds in the open field. Partners can produce quality potato seeds for the needs of members and farmers outside the region.

Abstract

One of the main problems faced by farmers in Lampung today is the limited or scarcity of subsidized fertilizers. Meanwhile, there is an interesting phenomenon that has occurred on campus, including at FMIPA, University of Lampung (Unila), that about waste. So far, organic waste in the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Unila, has not been utilized optimally. The organic waste is only collected and deposited at the Integrated Waste Management Site (TPST) at Unila to be sorted and then taken to the Final Disposal Site (TPA) of Bandar Lampung City. These conditions prompted us, as academics at the University of Lampung, to be moved to carry out a community service program with the theme "Conversion of organic waste in the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at the University of Lampung into Liquid Organic Fertilizer (POC) using solid liquid (SL) techniques." This PKM activity aims to process organic waste into liquid organic fertilizer. The processing of organic waste into liquid organic fertilizer is carried out using the soluble liquid technique, in which the organic waste is chopped and then pressed using a press machine, the pressed liquid is added to the starter solution so that the solid particles can dissolve. The dregs resulting from the press are also added to the starter solution so that the dregs can be used as animal feed or compost. The resulting product is applied to plants around FMIPA Unila. The results of this PKM activity were in the form of 60 liters of liquid organic fertilizer (POC) from 100 kg of organic waste, in other words, a yield of 60% was obtained. The resulting POC was then applied to plants in the FMIPA environment. Apart from products in the form of POC, this activity was also able to slowly change the behavior of the Unila FMIPA academic community towards existing organic waste. It is hoped that regular coaching will change the FMIPA environment to be cleaner, healthier and greener. The liquid organic fertilizer produced can also be packaged to be further sold to farmers at affordable prices, so as to increase the economic value of organic waste which has not been utilized so far and also increase the income of some of the education staff in FMIPA Unila.

Abstract

Moringa (Moringa oleifera) is a type of tropical plant that is easy to cultivate because it does not require intensive care and has high drought tolerance. In addition, various parts of the Moringa plant contain good nutrition and are widely used in various fields such as: food, health, beauty and the environment, so it is very natural to get the nickname Tree For Life. The purpose of this activity is to provide information regarding the various benefits of the Moringa plant which can be optimized, especially in terms of health. One way to use Moringa leaves is to make preparations that are more practical so that people can easily consume them, these preparations can be in the form of Moringa leaf capsules. This activity was carried out using a group approach method in the form of socialization to community groups in the Sulamadaha village. The socialization explained the main benefits of Moringa leaves and then showed how to make Moringa leaf capsules and explained the advantages of using Moringa leaf capsules which are more practical to use without reducing the benefits of the Moringa leaves themselves. The implementation of this counseling activity went smoothly and was attended by the community enthusiastically, seen by the community's participation with question and answer activities regarding the benefits and advantages of the preparation if it is made into Moringa leaf capsules. The results of this activity further opened up the people of Sulamadaha Village about the benefits of Moringa leaves, especially for health and provided an understanding that Moringa preparations are not only made in the form of vegetables but can be made in a more practical form, namely with capsule preparations. And in the end the people of the Sulamadaha village after this activity have received information and have understood the processing of Moringa leaves into preparations that are far more practical without eliminating the main benefits of the Moringa leaves themselves.

Abstract

Jember Regency is one of the regencies prone to earthquakes. This disaster has caused a number of damaged buildings in various affected areas. The buildings affected by the earthquake were simple houses built by village builders. They generally do not understand how earthquake shear forces behave in the houses they build. The objective of this activity was to provide the masons with the skills to retrofit simple houses made of unreinforced masonry walls by applying ferrocement technology so that the bearing capacity against earthquake-induced shear forces would be higher. The ferrocement training was conducted in Sukogidri Village, Ledokombo, Jember. This activity was carried out by socialising and coordinating, providing training, conducting group strengthening and evaluation. The average score obtained by individual builders during the pretest was between 39.7 and 40.1. After the training, the average score of personal builders was between 77.6 and 80.3. The overall ability of builders before the training activities was 40.03. The overall ability of the builders after the training was 78.77. The increase in the average ability of builders personally when compared between before and after training with a value between 37.4 to 40.3. Meanwhile, the overall improvement of the builders after the Community Partnership Empowerment (PKM) programme was 38.75. This indicates that the training was very appropriate to improve the ability of builders to apply ferrocement technology to retrofit simple earthquake-damaged houses.
