Abstract

Indonesia, being a tropical country, experiences more than 200 lightning strikes per year per square kilometer. The dangers associated with lightning currents cannot be completely eliminated. Therefore, it is crucial to make efforts to minimize losses caused by lightning strikes by installing both external and internal lightning protection systems. The impact of a lightning strike can cause harm to buildings, electronic equipment, and even pose a threat to the lives of living beings in and around the affected area. To safeguard buildings and protect lives from the dangers of lightning strikes, the installation of an external and internal lightning protection system is essential. In order to raise awareness about the importance of lightning protection systems, a socialization program was organized specifically for Vocational High School students majoring in building and electricity. This initiative is significant as Vocational High School graduates often enter the workforce directly. By integrating the concepts of building planning and electricity with lightning protection systems, it is hoped that Vocational High School students will begin to learn and apply these principles effectively. During the socialization program, the participants were familiarized with Law No. 28 of 2002 and Government Regulation No. 36 of 2005, which are both essential components of building planning. By incorporating these regulations into their understanding of lightning protection systems, the students gained valuable knowledge and skills. A total of 44 vocational students participated in this program, and their progress in terms of understanding and knowledge increased by 70.837%. This socialization activity holds great potential in minimizing losses caused by lightning strikes.

Abstract

QR code is a technology that is currently developing rapidly. Currently, laboratory services in the Refraction Optics Study Program are still carried out conventionally. The application of technology in laboratory management is needed to increase effectiveness and efficiency. The purpose of this activity is to create and implement a QR code in laboratory services. The QR code is used in the form of borrowing laboratory equipment; as well as record the use of equipment and laboratory space activities. The method used in this activity is the design method. The laboratory service form is created using Google Form and a QR code is created. Student responses to the application of the use of the QR code were obtained using a questionnaire. Data were analyzed descriptively. A total of five QR codes integrated with Google Form and Google Sheets have been created. The QR code includes a form for borrowing equipment and using the laboratory space. QR code in laboratory services has been successfully implemented. Some of the advantages of this laboratory digitization activity are unique, efficient, paperless, and easy to collect data. However, several shortcomings were found, such as high dependence on the internet, form displays that were still complex and less than simple. The use of QR codes in laboratory services raises pros and cons. The use of QR codes in the lab can be evaluated and integrated with other media to make it more attractive. Socialization and adaptation to the use of the QR code and in laboratory services are needed.

Abstract

The MSME group in Setiling Village is in Central Lombok Regency. This group focuses on the processing and marketing of traditional herbal products, chayote chips, ant sugar and fern chips. So far, MSMEs in Setiling Village are still carrying out marketing activities in a conventional way targeting community buyers in the village. As a result, these marketing activities have not been optimal and have not been supported by the use of technology regarding the importance of producing good product photos. This service aims to improve marketing strategies for MSMEs in Setiling Village, Central Lombok Regency through product photo training. This product photo activity was carried out using the participant's smartphone. The main target in this activity is MSME actors who have received training and assistance in 2022. The method used in this community service activity is interactive participatory. Service is divided into three stages, namely planning and preparation, implementation and evaluation. Participants in the service activity consisted of 14 MSME actors and three students. At the beginning of the activity, participants were given material regarding the importance of product photos in marketing. Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has significantly impacted Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), especially in rural areas. They try to increase their productivity and start their business again. MSMEs must develop positive business attitudes, opportunity reading skills, and a strong mentality. This community service program (PkM) aims to increase the entrepreneurial mindset in rural areas and revive the capacity and competitiveness of MSME actors. This program focuses on the community business group in Sruweng Village, Kebumen, Central Java. PkM activities consist of two activities such as training/workshops and processual empowerment. The total number of participants is 40, consisting of community business actors who experienced the impact of the covid-19 pandemic. The observations and FGDs found that MSME actors had several obstacles to restarting their business, including limited business capital (social and financial), production management, and marketing strategy. This activity's output has provided motivation and confidence for MSME actors to start or develop their businesses again. All participants shared experiences and solutions in dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic during the process. Through this process, participants succeeded in generating new ideas and understanding changes in market conditions after the Covid-19 pandemic. In addition, PkM activities help MSME actors improve the quality of their products and formulate effective and efficient business models and marketing strategies.

Abstract

In the era of rapidly developing technology, the use of telecommunications equipment and its supporting infrastructure is increasingly widespread. One of the people's concerns is the impact of electromagnetic wave radiation from telecommunication towers on health and the environment. This outreach activity aims to address the lack of accurate information and combat unfounded concerns about telecommunications technology. In its implementation, various approaches are used, such as outreach in the form of seminars and distribution of information materials. Creative methods such as interesting and interactive presentations are also applied to facilitate public understanding. The results of this activity show positive changes in people's understanding of electromagnetic wave radiation. Society now has better knowledge about safe radiation levels, mitigation measures that can be taken, and the need to use telecommunication technology wisely. Community support for mitigation measures, such as keeping a distance from telecommunication towers or using protective devices, has also seen an increase. In addition, this activity has a positive psychological impact by reducing unfounded fears and worries. Communities responded positively to socialization efforts and recognized the benefits of a better understanding of telecommunications technology. The ultimate goal of this activity is to create a society that is more aware, knowledgeable, and ready to take precautions against the effects of electromagnetic wave radiation. Thus, this socialization activity has a significant role in informing the public, changing understanding, supporting mitigation measures, and planning for a future that is safer and aware of the impact of electromagnetic wave radiation from telecommunication towers on residential communities.

The data from the National Nutrition Status Survey (SSGI) of 2022 shows that one out of every five children in Indonesia is stunted. The Movement to Popularize Eating Fish to Prevent Stunting (GAMSTING) is an effort to reduce stunting prevalence in Indonesia. This service activity aims to provide education to teachers, parents and students at Kindergarten DW Rinjani University of Mataram about the importance of nutrition fulfillment from an early age to prevent stunting, one of which is by consuming fish. This service uses the counseling method with material on the introduction of types of sea fish and fresh fish, as well as the importance of eating fish for the health and fulfillment of children's nutrition. The second counseling material is the hands-on practice of cooking tuna. Students and parents who attended the activity were enthusiastic in participating in the activity both in material presentation and in tasting the fish dishes from the cooking demonstration. Collaboration among children, parents and teachers at school in introducing and increasing fish consumption is expected to be an important measure to prevent stunting.
