Abstract

Work-life balance has become an important issue in the modern workplace, especially with the increasing adoption of hybrid and remote work systems. This study aims to explore employees' experiences in managing the balance between work and personal life demands and its impact on productivity. Using a qualitative approach, in-depth interviews were conducted with 12 participants with diverse backgrounds and work arrangements. The results showed that work time flexibility, organizational support, and ability in workload management were the main factors influencing work-life balance. Employees who have work flexibility generally show higher levels of job satisfaction and productivity than those who experience imbalance. However, challenges such as excessive workload and unrealistic company expectations remain significant barriers to achieving this balance. This study highlights the importance of companies' role in formulating policies that not only support work-life balance administratively, but also build a work culture that cares about mental health, well-being, and the sustainability of employee productivity in the long term.

Abstract

Village development is an important aspect to promote equitable welfare, empower local communities, and improve governance. This study examines the influence of transformational leadership, work culture, and competence on the performance of Village Fund managers, with work commitment as a mediation variable and government policy as a moderation variable. A quantitative approach with explanatory design is used. The population consists of the managers of the Village Fund, including the village head, secretary, treasurer, and other officials directly involved in the management of the fund. A sample of 360 respondents was selected using stratified cluster sampling to ensure representation across regions and roles. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire based on a validated theoretical construct and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS 3.0 software. The findings show that competence, leadership, and work culture significantly affect the work commitment and performance of Village Fund managers. Work commitments are confirmed as significant mediators, while government policies effectively moderate the relationship between commitment and performance.

Abstract

Gender has become an important issue in the workplace, especially related to its influence on job satisfaction and motivation. This study aims to analyze the influence of leadership, organizational support, compensation, and gender on job motivation, with job satisfaction as a mediating variable. This study was conducted on employees of the Muara Tirta Gorontalo Regional Water Company with a quantitative approach and explanatory design. Data were obtained from 145 respondents who were purposively selected from 609 employees, using a closed questionnaire based on a five-point Likert scale. The analysis was carried out using the path analysis method with the help of Lisrel 8.7 software. The results of the study showed that leadership, organizational support, compensation, and gender had a significant effect on job satisfaction, which then partially mediated the effect on work motivation. Fair gender treatment has been shown to reduce inequality and increase motivation. Compensation and leadership are dominant factors in shaping job satisfaction and motivation. These findings support the Social Exchange Theory which emphasizes the importance of reciprocal relationships between organizations and employees. Practically, the results of this study encourage public sector organizations to implement justice-based policies, effective leadership, and transparent compensation systems to increase work motivation.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted global economies, impacting financial performance and investor confidence in the Indonesian property and real estate sector. This study aims to evaluate the influence of Net Profit Margin (NPM), Total Asset Turnover (TATO), and Equity Multiplier (EM) on Earnings Per Share (EPS), with Return on Equity (ROE) as an intervening variable. Using path analysis via SmartPLS 3, the study analyzes secondary data from financial statements of 90 property and real estate companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange from 2019 to 2021. The findings reveal that NPM, TATO, and EM significantly affect ROE, with EM showing the strongest impact due to high leverage. However, NPM and TATO have insignificant direct effects on EPS, while EM significantly influences EPS. ROE strongly mediates the effects of NPM, TATO, and EM on EPS, confirming its role as a critical mediator. These results underscore the importance of balanced leverage and efficient asset utilization for sustaining profitability, offering insights for investors and managers navigating volatile markets.

Abstract

This study investigates the role of peer assessment in identifying employee affective commitment within Bandung City government agencies. Affective commitment, encompassing emotional attachment, identification, and involvement, is influenced by work experience, personal values, and social support. Grounded in Social Network Theory, which highlights the significance of social interactions in workplace networks, this research employs a quantitative descriptive approach. Data was collected via questionnaires from employees with at least one year of service, assessing three commitment dimensions through peer evaluations to ensure objectivity. Findings reveal a high level of affective commitment, with emotional engagement as the primary contributor and participation the lowest. Positive peer perceptions significantly enhance employees’ sense of belonging and loyalty, validating peer assessment as an effective alternative indicator of affective commitment. These results align with Organizational Support and Social Network Theories, emphasizing the role of social relationships in fostering emotional bonds. The study offers practical insights for developing socially driven internal evaluation systems to boost employee loyalty and performance. Despite its contributions, limitations include potential peer assessment biases and context-specific findings, suggesting future research to explore causal relationships and broader applications.

Abstract

Technology-based financial services, such as paylater, are increasingly popular in Indonesia as a payment flexibility solution for consumers. However, the level of financial literacy and risk perception are key factors influencing the adoption of these services. This study aims to analyze the influence of financial literacy, risk perception, and paylater adoption on consumer financial behavior in Makassar using the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) approach. Data were collected through a survey of 100 respondents who had used paylater services for the past six months. The results showed that financial literacy had a significant influence on paylater adoption (coefficient 0.759; p < 0.001) and financial behavior (through mediation of paylater adoption). Paylater adoption also had a significant influence on financial behavior (coefficient 0.358; p = 0.026). Meanwhile, risk perception influenced paylater adoption (coefficient 0.181; p = 0.018), but did not directly influence financial behavior. This study emphasizes the importance of financial literacy in increasing consumer awareness of the risks and benefits of paylater services. These findings provide insights for financial service providers to improve consumer education to encourage responsible adoption.

Abstract

Muhammadiyah, a major Indonesian community organization, plans to withdraw approximately 13 trillion rupiah from Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) due to concerns over financial concentration risks. Beyond its tangible assets, Muhammadiyah’s influence over its followers raises the potential for a bank run, threatening banking stability. This study aims to analyze netizen behavior toward Muhammadiyah’s decision and the likelihood of its followers following suit. Employing a qualitative netnography approach, data were collected from 2,402 YouTube comments using Nawala software and analyzed with NVIVO. Findings reveal that netizens extensively discussed trust in government, development plans, deposit safety, and fund allocation, with predominantly negative sentiments. Approximately 65–70% expressed distrust in the government, 85% questioned BSI’s fund allocation, and 55–60% supported Muhammadiyah’s proposal to establish a new bank. Strong public support for Muhammadiyah’s actions indicates a risk of a broader bank run. The study concludes that public distrust in the government and BSI, amplified by Muhammadiyah’s influence, poses a threat to financial stability. Transparent communication and robust deposit guarantees by the government and BSI are essential to mitigate further crises.

Abstract

This study investigates the influence of artificial intelligence on sustainable financial governance, both directly and indirectly through the Technology Acceptance Model. Sustainable financial governance is measured by the quality and transparency of financial reporting and by profitability, while the TAM model is represented through perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness. The research adopts an associative quantitative method, collecting primary data from 384 accounting and finance professionals across diverse sectors in Indonesia using a sampling method based on Lemeshow’s formula with a 5 percent alpha. Data analysis is conducted using least squares regression and moderated regression analysis. The study builds upon prior research using a qualitative literature review and variable feasibility assessment, aiming to provide empirical validation. The findings reveal that AI positively affects the quality and transparency of financial reports, especially when users perceive the technology as easy to use and beneficial. However, AI alone does not directly impact profitability nor moderate the relationship between ease of use and profitability. Profitability improvements are observed when users recognize the tangible benefits AI brings to their professional tasks. These results highlight the importance of user perception in realizing the potential of AI within financial governance and suggest targeted strategies to enhance technology adoption in financial sectors.
