Abstract

The success of public sector organizations in achieving optimal performance is greatly influenced by leadership style and employee work motivation. However, challenges still exist in implementing effective leadership and adequate motivation to improve employee performance in the public sector. This study aims to examine the effect of leadership style on employee performance with work motivation as a mediating variable. A quantitative approach was used to provide an objective and measurable overview of the relationships among variables. Data were collected through a questionnaire using a five-point Likert scale from all employees of Central Sulawesi, involving 172 respondents through a saturated sampling technique. Data analysis was carried out using SmartPLS 3 software with path analysis to test both direct and indirect effects among the variables. The results showed that leadership style significantly influences work motivation, and work motivation significantly affects employee performance. Furthermore, work motivation was found to significantly mediate the relationship between leadership style and employee performance, while the direct effect of leadership style on employee performance was not statistically significant. These findings highlight the crucial role of work motivation as a bridge between leadership and performance improvement in public sector organizations.

Abstract

A recent phenomenon that has occurred in society, including in the city of Bogor, is that more and more consumers are interested in using body care products. Vaseline is a company that produces quality body care and beauty products. However, with the increasing number of competitors, Vaseline products are starting to become less popular with consumers. The objectives of this research are (1) To determine the effect of price cuts made by Vaseline products on consumer buying interest in the city of Bogor, (2) To find out the effect of Vaseline product quality on consumer buying interest in the city of Bogor, (3) To find out the effect of price cuts and Vaseline product quality together on consumer buying interest in the city of Bogor. Data was collected using a questionnaire. The number of respondents in this study is 110 respondents who are familiar with and have used Vaseline products in Bogor. The research data was processed using SPSS. The results of this study are as follows: (1) Discount Offers (X1) partially influence Purchase Intention (Y) with the t-count value greater than the t-table (4.141 > 1.659), thus H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted; (2) Product Quality (X2) partially influences Purchase Intention (Y) with the t-count value greater than the t-table (4,566 > 1,659), thus H0 is rejected and H2 is accepted; (3) Discount Offers and Product Quality together have a positive and significant influence on Purchase Intention with the F-count value greater than the F-table (77,699 > 3.08), thus H0 is rejected and H3 is accepted. Therefore, it can be concluded that Discount Offers and Product Quality contribute to Consumer Purchase Intention, with an R-Square value of 59.2%, and the remaining 40.8% is explained by other variables. Keywords: Price Discounts, Product Quality, Consumer Purchase Interest

Abstract

This study investigates the moderating role of Capital Adequacy Ratio on the relationship between Non-Performing Loans and core banking indicators Lerner Index, market share of loans, market share of deposits, technical efficiency, scale efficiency, and interest rate spread across two categories of Indonesian Regional Development Banks: undercapitalized (Category-1) and well-capitalized (Category-2). Using quarterly panel data from 24 Indonesian Regional Development Banks for the period 2012–2022 and estimated with Generalized Least Squares, the results show that Capital Adequacy Ratio significantly moderates the effect of Lerner Index, market share of deposits, and interest rate spread on Non-Performing Loans, strengthening risk absorption capacity in Category-2 banks. However, Capital Adequacy Ratio does not effectively mitigate risks arising from aggressive loan growth, particularly in Category-1 banks. Additionally, technical efficiency and scale efficiency reduce Non-Performing Loans only when capital buffers are adequate. These findings suggest that Capital Adequacy Ratio affects the risk–return trade-off differently across bank types, highlighting the importance of tailored regulatory frameworks and reinforcing the notion that capital adequacy must be supported by strong governance and operational efficiency to effectively manage credit risk.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of product attributes, price, and brand image on customer loyalty at Sundanese restaurants in Bandung City. The study was conducted in 2024 with a quantitative approach, making Sundanese restaurant customers the focus of observation. Primary data were collected through a 5-point Likert scale-based questionnaire with a simple random sampling technique from 200 respondents. The analysis was carried out using the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) method with LISREL software. The results showed that product attributes and price did not have a significant effect on customer loyalty. On the contrary, brand image plays an important role in shaping loyalty, with brand reputation as the main factor. These findings indicate that in the context of Sundanese restaurants, customer perceptions of brand image, especially reputation, determine loyalty more than product quality or price. This study enriches the marketing literature related to the role of brand image and provides guidance for Sundanese restaurant managers to prioritize strengthening brand reputation in order to increase customer loyalty amidst the competition in the culinary industry. Further research can explore other factors such as service quality to deepen understanding of customer loyalty.

Abstract

This study investigates the influence of marketing innovation and digital communication strategies on sales growth and customer loyalty among micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in Gorontalo, Indonesia. Responding to the limited region-specific research in this area, the study employs a quantitative approach using path analysis to examine direct and indirect relationships among these variables. Data were collected through structured questionnaires distributed to 117 purposively selected MSME actors actively engaged in strategic business decisions. The findings reveal that marketing innovation significantly enhances both sales growth (β = 0.58) and customer loyalty (β = 0.42), while digital communication strategies also exert significant positive effects on sales (β = 0.32) and loyalty (β = 0.32). Sales growth, in turn, directly contributes to increased customer loyalty (β = 0.24). Furthermore, both marketing innovation and digital communication strategies have indirect effects on customer loyalty through their impact on sales growth. These results emphasize the importance of adopting innovative and digital strategies to improve MSME performance in emerging regions. The study offers practical recommendations for MSME managers and policymakers seeking to strengthen competitiveness and sustainability. While the research is limited to Gorontalo and cross-sectional in nature, it lays a foundation for future longitudinal and comparative studies across regions.

Abstract

This research is to determine the function of company size as a moderating variable in transportation companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange from 2019 to 2023, as well as the influence of liquidity, leverage and operating cash flow on financial distress. Secondary data in the form of annual financial reports of transportation companies listed on the IDX was used in this research. Structural Equation Modeling is analysis technique used, while SmartPLS is used as a bootstrapping method to examine the correlations between the model's variables. The findings show that leverage has a major impact on business size, with a higher level of leverage leading to a smaller firm. Financial distress is significantly influenced by operating cash flow as well; a positive correlation indicates that businesses are under financial strain. In the suggested model, financial distress is not directly influenced by business size, liquidity, leverage, or operating cash flow, as these relationships do not demonstrate substantial effects. Liquidity and operating cash flow also have little influence on business size, suggesting that these factors are not the main factors influencing firm size in the sample.
