Abstract

Business competition in the fashion retail sector requires companies to have employees with relevant competencies to achieve optimal performance. This study aims to analyze the effect of employee competency on employee performance with intrinsic motivation as a mediating variable. The study used a quantitative method with an explanatory approach. Data were collected through a Semantic Differential Scale questionnaire distributed to the entire population of 35 employees with a saturated sampling technique. Data analysis used Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with the help of SmartPLS 4 software. The results of the study indicate that employee competency has a positive and significant effect on intrinsic motivation, intrinsic motivation has a positive and significant effect on employee performance, and intrinsic motivation is proven to fully mediate the effect of employee competency on employee performance, where the direct effect of competency on performance is not significant. These findings indicate that increasing employee competency does not automatically improve performance but must first stimulate intrinsic motivation. This research contributes to practical implications for companies in designing competency development strategies and strengthening employee intrinsic motivation.

Abstract

As MSMEs serve as an important contributor to Indonesia’s economic growth, understanding the psychological processes that connect entrepreneurial passion, role ambiguity, and entrepreneurial behavior is increasingly relevant. This study investigates the influence of entrepreneurial passion on entrepreneurial behavior by examining the mediating role of role ambiguity among MSMEs. The research aims to explore the relationships between entrepreneurial passion, role ambiguity, and entrepreneurial behavior within the context of local MSMEs. A quantitative associative research approach was applied using SEM-PLS analysis involving 100 respondents selected through a saturated sampling method. The results indicate that entrepreneurial passion has a positive and significant effect on role ambiguity, with a path coefficient of 0.837, a t-statistic value of 28.952, and a p-value of 0.000. Furthermore, role ambiguity positively and significantly influences entrepreneurial behavior, as shown by a coefficient of 0.423, a t-statistic of 6.489, and a p-value of 0.000. Entrepreneurial passion also has a direct positive effect on entrepreneurial behavior with a coefficient value of 0.570. At the same time, its influence is further strengthened through the mediating effect of role ambiguity, which produces an indirect effect of 0.354. These findings indicate that role ambiguity functions as a partial mediator in explaining how entrepreneurial passion contributes to entrepreneurial behavior.

Abstract

These cooperatives are a strategic Indonesian government initiative to strengthen the local economy. However, many still face challenges in governance, entrepreneurial capability, and adapting to a dynamic business environment. This study examines the influence of entrepreneurial orientation, cooperative governance, and the business environment on cooperative performance while investigating the moderating role of business assistants in Merah Putih Village/Subdistrict Cooperatives. This quantitative study used PLS-SEM to analyze data from 150 cooperatives using SmartPLS. The findings demonstrate that entrepreneurial orientation, cooperative governance, and the business environment each have a positive and significant effect on cooperative performance. Furthermore, business assistants significantly strengthen the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and cooperative performance as well as the relationship between cooperative governance and cooperative performance. These findings indicate that effective mentoring enhances the capacity of cooperative managers to implement entrepreneurial practices, improve governance quality, and achieve better organizational performance. The study contributes to the cooperative management literature by extending the Resource-Based View, Social Exchange Theory, Human Capital Theory, and Contingency Theory through the integration of Business Assistants as a moderating variable. The findings also provide practical implications for policymakers in designing sustainable mentoring programs to improve cooperative performance.

Abstract

This study examines how transformational leadership and organizational culture play a role in shaping the readiness of Generation X lecturers at private universities to face change, as well as its impact on lecturer performance. This study was conducted using a quantitative approach through the distribution of questionnaires to 175 lecturers in Jakarta and analyzed using the SEM-PLS method. This study aims to answer how these two independent variables influence readiness to change and lecturer performance, both directly and indirectly. The results show that organizational culture and transformational leadership have a positive influence on readiness to change, while readiness to change acts as a significant mediator in the relationship between these variables and lecturer performance. However, the direct influence of transformational leadership on lecturer performance is not significant. This article discusses the importance of readiness to change as a psychological variable that bridges the dynamics of leadership and organizational culture with performance outcomes. These findings contribute conceptually to change management studies and provide practical implications for higher education institutions in enhancing lecturer readiness and performance in the face of organizational dynamics.

Abstract

Patient-Centered Care (PCC) has increasingly gained attention as an essential approach to improving the quality of care in Intensive Care Units (ICUs), where complex clinical conditions, rapid decision-making, communication barriers, and ethical challenges may hinder patient and family involvement. This study aims to examine the development of PCC research in ICU settings, identify dominant research themes and influential contributors, and formulate future research directions to support PCC integration into intensive care practice. A bibliometric analysis was conducted using Scopus-indexed publications from 2015 to 2024. The search identified 605 publications, which were screened and refined to 163 relevant articles from 70 journals, 42 countries, and 165 institutions. The findings reveal an overall increase in publications and four major thematic clusters: communication and family involvement, patient safety and quality of care, the role of healthcare professionals, and critical conditions and hospital mortality. The literature also shows a shift from clinically and safety-oriented concerns toward more comprehensive approaches emphasizing communication, shared decision-making, family participation, and individualized care. In conclusion, PCC research in ICUs is increasingly multidimensional and human-centered. Future research should focus on systematic PCC implementation, organizational barriers, family involvement, and vulnerable populations, particularly neonatal and pediatric patients.

Abstract

Firm value is a key indicator in assessing the success and attractiveness of investments, which is determined not only by financial performance but also by governance and environmental responsibility. Ownership structure, particularly managerial and institutional ownership, is believed to mitigate agency conflicts and promote corporate transparency. However, previous empirical findings have shown mixed results; therefore, this study attempts to examine the effect of managerial and institutional ownership on firm value, with environmental disclosure as a mediating variable. The study used a quantitative approach with secondary data in the form of financial statements and annual reports of companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange for the period 2022–2024. The analysis was conducted using the Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling method using SmartPLS 4. The results show that managerial and institutional ownership have a positive effect on environmental disclosure, which in turn increases firm value. Furthermore, environmental disclosure acts as a mediating variable that strengthens the relationship between ownership structure and firm value. These findings emphasize the importance of environmental disclosure practices as a sustainability strategy that not only enhances corporate legitimacy but also strengthens investor confidence and competitiveness in the capital market.

Abstract

Innovative work behavior is increasingly recognized as a critical factor in enhancing organizational effectiveness and sustainability, particularly in educational institutions facing dynamic environmental changes. This study aims to analyze the effects of work engagement on innovative work behavior and learning agility, as well as to examine the mediating role of learning agility in the relationship between work engagement and innovative work behavior. A quantitative descriptive approach was employed using survey data collected from 200 employees working in educational foundations across North Sumatra, Indonesia. Data were gathered through structured questionnaires and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling with SmartPLS software. The findings reveal that work engagement has a significant positive effect on learning agility and innovative work behavior. However, learning agility does not significantly influence innovative work behavior and cannot mediate the relationship between work engagement and innovative work behavior. These results indicate that employees’ engagement with their work directly promotes innovative behavior, whereas learning agility does not serve as a significant explanatory mechanism in this context. This study contributes to the literature by providing empirical evidence from educational foundation employees in Indonesia and offers insights for managers seeking to enhance employee innovation through greater work engagement.

Abstract

The paradigm shift in internal auditing requires internal audit units to move beyond administrative supervision and become agents of organizational change, yet this role remains constrained in many regional hospitals by weak follow-up, auditee resistance, and limited monitoring systems. This study analyzes how monitoring strategies transform the internal audit unit’s role as supervisor, consultant, and catalyst in hospital governance. A qualitative study was conducted at Daha Husada Regional General Hospital, a provincial public hospital with BLUD status. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with ten informants, observation, and document analysis, then examined through open, axial, and thematic coding using the Input-Process-Output framework. The findings show that closed-loop monitoring, involving appointment of a person in charge, time targets, evidence verification, and periodic reporting, improves implementation of audit recommendations and changes perceptions of the internal audit units from a control symbol to a strategic partner. Monitoring also functions as organizational learning that strengthens compliance culture and cross-unit collaboration. Key barriers include limited human resources, inconsistent management support, and the absence of an integrated monitoring system. Thus, monitoring operates as a governance intervention that repositions internal audit toward collaborative assurance and learning in public hospitals.

Abstract

Financial sustainability is a decisive condition for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) because it determines whether firms can maintain liquidity, generate stable profitability, absorb shocks, and finance growth. Drawing on Dynamic Capability Theory and the Resource-Based View, this study examines how managerial capability contributes to SME financial sustainability through product innovation and how access to finance strengthens the innovation-sustainability relationship. The research used a quantitative survey design involving 350 SME owners and managers in West Java, Indonesia, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a structured seven-point Likert questionnaire and analyzed with Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results show that managerial capability has a strong positive effect on product innovation (beta = 0.727; t = 19.755; p < 0.001), product innovation positively affects financial sustainability (beta = 0.411; t = 4.876; p < 0.001), and managerial capability directly improves financial sustainability (beta = 0.231; t = 5.422; p < 0.001). Product innovation significantly mediates the effect of managerial capability on financial sustainability (indirect effect = 0.299; t = 5.742; p < 0.001), while access to finance positively moderates the effect of product innovation on financial sustainability (beta = 0.218; t = 3.108; p = 0.002). The findings support a Dynamic Capability-Based Financial Sustainability Model for SMEs, suggesting that managerial capability becomes financially meaningful when translated into innovation and supported by adequate financial access. The study contributes to strategic management, entrepreneurship, and SME sustainability literature by clarifying the capability-innovation-finance mechanism through which SMEs improve long-term financial viability in an emerging economy context.   Keywords: managerial capability; product innovation; access to finance; financial sustainability; SMEs; dynamic capability; PLS-SEM

Abstract

Working capital management is crucial for maintaining operational efficiency and profitability, particularly in the food and beverage industry, which is characterized by intensive inventory turnover and continuous cash flow requirements. This study aims to examine the effect of the cash conversion cycle on corporate profitability and determine whether the relationship follows an inverted U-shaped non-linear pattern among food and beverage companies. A quantitative approach with a confirmatory research design was employed using balanced panel data from 13 companies over the 2015–2025 period, resulting in 143 firm-year observations. The data were analyzed using panel data regression, with the fixed effects model selected based on model specification tests and robust standard errors. Corporate profitability was measured using EBIT to total assets, while cash conversion cycle and its squared term were the main explanatory variables, with current ratio, sales growth, debt ratio, firm size, and a COVID-19 dummy included as control variables. The findings indicate that cash conversion cycle has a negative and significant effect on profitability at the 10% level, whereas CCC² is statistically insignificant. Firm size has a positive and significant effect, while the COVID-19 dummy has a negative and significant effect. Therefore, the hypothesized inverted U-shaped relationship is not supported.
