Abstract

This study aims to describe the understanding of science concepts of junior high school students in the form of image representation through guided inquiry learning assisted with simulated PhET. This type of research is quantitative descriptive research. The study was conducted at SMP Negeri 2 Genteng. The research subjects were all students of class VIII A and VIII D with a total of 64 student respondents. The collection of data using the test, interview, observation, and documentation techniques. The data analysis technique is to use the Normalized N-Gain test to describe the ability of students' image representation. The results of data analysis showed an increase in understanding of the concept of science in the form of image representation with a value of g = 0.7. In conclusion, that the guided inquiry learning model assisted by the PhET simulation can improve the ability of students' science concepts in the form of Image Representation with high categories, which means that this learning is very effective.

Abstract

Learning is an activity that has important potential to instill scientific attitudes and positive attitudes in students. Learning activities in schools can provide insight for students in several fields, one of which is the environment. As is known, environmental problems are problems that are always found and tend to accompany human behavior and activities. The problem of cleanliness, order, and rubbish is a complicated thing that is entrenched in the current era supported by the increasingly high consumption of human consumption. For this reason, ethics-based learning needs to be applied in teaching and learning activities in the classroom. In the initial study of this study using the observation method with a questionnaire aimed to get students' responses related to environmental ethics.

Abstract

The inquiry learning model is a learning model that encourages student activity in learning activities. This inquiry learning model is accompanied by one of the learning media namely pictorial riddle in the form of puzzle images. This study aims to examine the effect of science learning with inquiry learning models accompanied by pictorial riddle relation to critical thinking skills of junior high school students. This type of research is an experiment using a pre-test post-test control group design. The study population was Grade VII students of SMP Negeri 1 Ambulu, sampling using a homogeneity test. The data analysis technique uses Independent samples t-test. The results of the Kolmogorov Smirnov normality test showed that both samples were normally distributed, so the hypothesis test uses a parametric statistical test called the Independent Sample T-test. Based on the results of the Independent Sample T-test, there is a significant influence on the results of critical thinking skills.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of applying the problem-based learning (PBL) model on the critical thinking skills of eighth-grade students of SMP Negeri 6 Borong. The type of research used is quantitative with a quasi-experimental research design (quasi-experimental) with a Posttest- Only Control Group Design. The population in this study were all students of class VIII SMP Negeri 6 Borong totaling 89 people who were obtained using a random sampling technique. The data collection technique used a test in a description test to measure students' critical thinking skills. Data analysis used normality test, normality test, and hypothesis testing. The results of the study using SPSS 24 obtained the results of the research, namely a significant value for (sig 2- tailed) of 0.000 <0.05, which means that there is an effect of implementing the Problem Based Learning learning model on critical thinking skills so that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted.

Abstract

This research is development research that aims to develop an ethnoscience-based high school physics enrichment book on the traditional processing of Nur Kerinci coffee and to find out the students’ perceptions about the enrichment book. The subjects of this study were material experts, media experts, and class XII MIPA 1 students of SMAN 11 Kota Jambi, totaling 24 students. The instruments used in this study were observation sheets, interview sheets, expert validation sheets, student perception questionnaires, and documentation. The resulting data are in the form of qualitative and quantitative data. Qualitative data were analyzed descriptively and quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Local wisdom in the form of traditional processing of Nur Kerinci coffee is used as a context for the problem to explore scientific concepts, especially physics concepts. The results of the material expert validation obtained an average score of 93.33% with the "very good" category and the media expert at 93.33% with the "very good" category. Meanwhile, the results of the student perception trial obtained an average score percentage of 89.53% in the "very good" category.

Abstract

This study aims to study the effect of the direct instruction model on class VIII student learning outcomes at MTs Al-Falahiya Nanga Academic Year 2019/2020. This type of research is a quantitive research survey and the design used is Ex-Post Facto. The population in this study was class VIII MTs Al-Falahiyah Nanga and the study sample was obtained by 38 people obtained by simple random sampling technique. The data obtained is the value of student learning outcomes. The data analysis technique used is the Kolmogorov Smirnov test for the normality test as a prerequisite test for analysis and one-sample test for the hypothesis test. The results of the analysis of the data obtained generated a significant model of direct instruction on student learning outcomes. This conclusion is based on the results of hypothesis testing on learning outcomes. The results obtained are the standard deviation = 5,521 with the number of students 38 people and df = 37 at a significant level of 0,000 and obtained = 14,514 at the significant level of the table sig (2-tailed) 0,05 then rejected and accepted.

Abstract

One of the problems in online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic is monotonous learning. This fact requires teachers to be able creating joy learning. Not only focusing on the knowledge aspect, but also the skill aspect through experiment from home by using technology. So that students feel happy and motivated to learn, able to prove the concepts in real-life, so physics can be understood contextually. One of the software that can be used for distance learning based on physics experiment is tracker. According the facts, the researchers try to develop the learning materials topics parabolic motion using tracker. The research method in this research using 4D model (Define, Design, Development, Disseminate) of Thiargarajan. From the results of the reserach, it can be concluded that, (1) video analysis of parabolic motion using tracker can be getting appropriate results. (2) the results of the design of learning materials for parabolic motion materials include: title, learning instructions, learning objectives, parabolic motion materials, and questions based on critical thinking indicators of interpretation, analysis, evaluation and inference.

Abstract

Questioning skills are very important for prospective teacher students to master in order to help students learn actively in class later. Students' questioning skills are empowered through case study learning of environmental pollution subjects. Because it discusses pollution in the environment, a solution needs to be found. The purpose of this study was to determine the questioning skills of prospective teacher students in environmental pollution course using case study method. This qualitative descriptive research was conducted in the odd semester of the 2020/2021 academic year. The measurement instrument was in the form of scoring the students' questioning skill level based on the cognitive level of the revised bloom taxonomy. The research data were analyzed by using the percentage technique. The results showed that the questions asked by students at the low order thinking skills level were 83.33% and the high order thinking skills level was 26.66%. Furthermore, it is necessary to habituate students with asking questions with more intensive assistance and lecturers can provide more examples of questions at the high order thinking skills level.
