Abstract

Early childhood naturally experiences gross motor movement development which is important for their motor and cognitive abilities. In this literature review, we investigated the relationship between physical activity and gross motor movement development in early childhood. We conduct systematic searches in leading scientific databases and analyze relevant studies. Our findings suggest a significant positive association between participation in structured physical activity and gross motor movement development in early childhood. Activities such as play, sports, and gymnastics programs are designed to improve coordination, muscle strength, and other gross motor skills. However, there is a lack of in-depth research in this context, especially in terms of methodology and consistent measurement. Therefore, this review highlights the need for more in-depth follow-up research to better understand the relationship between physical activity and gross motor movement development in early childhood. The implications of this study may aid in the development of more effective intervention programs to improve gross motor skills in early childhood

Abstract

Agility is the ability to move to change direction quickly without losing balance. This study aims to determine the ef ect of shadow training methods using rackets and shadow training using shuttle cock on increasing the agility of UPI Badminton UKM athletes. The method used in this research is an experimental method using A Group Pre-test and Post-Test Design. The population in this study were all UPI badminton UKM athletes totaling 32 people, the sample used a purposive sampling technique of as many as 12 people. The data collection technique was carried out by giving an initial test to 2 groups. Then given treatment with the shadow training method using a shuttle cock and shadow training using a racket, then given a final test using the shadow 2 return test. Data processing techniques were carried out with descriptive statistical analysis and paired t-tests. Both shadow training methods influence increasing agility, but the shadow training method using shuttle cock has a more significant influence. So it can be concluded that the shadow training method using shuttle cock has a more significant ef ect on increasing the agility of UPI Badminton UKM athletes.

Abstract

Self-confidence is one of the variables that impact the development of mental toughness. This study aimed to determine the relationship between mental toughness and self-confidence in adolescent pencak silat athletes. The quantitative description method was used in this study. This study used a purposive sampling technique for the sample. The study population amounted to one hundred and fifty athletes, with a sample of fifty teenage athletes who were members of the martial arts clubs Persaudaraan Setia Hati Terate, Merpati Putih, and Perisai Diri. The data acquisition method carried out during this period consisted of questionnaires and observations. The instruments used in this study were Pratama's self-confidence scale and Sella's mental toughness scale. The data analysis method used simple regression with SPSS. The findings of this study indicate that the self-confidence of adolescent pencak silat athletes is in the "low" category by 14% (7 athletes), "medium" by 72% (36 athletes), and "high" by 14% (7 athletes). At the same time, the mental toughness of adolescent pencak silat athletes is in the "low" category by 20% (10 athletes), "medium" by 64% (32 athletes), and "high" by 16% (8 athletes). The findings of the linear regression analysis show an F value of 70.919 with a significance level of 0.000 <0.05. This indicates that the mental toughness variable (Y) is influenced by the self-confidence variable (X) in adolescent pencak silat athletes. Based on data analysis, the R-squared value is 0.596 if it is presented to 59.6%, which indicates that self-confidence affects the mental toughness of adolescent martial arts athletes. This study shows that self-confidence plays a vital role in the mental strength of adolescent martial arts athletes. Future research is recommended to expand the scope of research to include other aspects that impact athletes' mental toughness. The practical implication is the importance of targeted mental training to increase self-confidence and manage stress in adolescent martial arts athletes.

Abstract

So far there has been no study that has carried out mapping of study programs, facilities and infrastructure including laboratories and health services offered to the community. Judging from the literature review at all Sports Faculties in Indonesia, the aim of this research is to map the potential of sports faculties throughout Indonesia through study programs, laboratories and service facilities so that the potential of sports faculties is known. This research method involves collecting data from libraries and exploring research objects using various sources of library information, such as books, encyclopaedias, scientific journals, newspapers, magazines, and digital documents. The sample for this literature study consisted of 15 campuses that have sports faculties. Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta has the greatest number of sports study programmes among all campuses. UNM offers a sports faculty provided with appropriate and diverse related laboratories. There are five campuses, namely UPI, UNJA, UNIMA, UNDIKSHA, and UNCEN, which provide limited information about their laboratories. Currently, only UNESA, UM, and UNY have virtually identical quantitative measures. Surabaya and Yogyakarta State Universities own the majority of service facilities, while other sports campuses require new facilities to produce financial resources for universities and provide services to the public and academic community. Collaboration among sports institutions in Indonesia is necessary to cultivate proficient sports graduates across different locations. In addition to fostering healthy rivalry among sports faculties to promote their development, each campus should also seek suitable benchmarks based on their unique qualities, ensuring that each sports faculty have distinct advantages. There is a hope to establish sports universities in Indonesia as part of long-term planning.
