Abstract

This research aims to develop Computer-Based Test (CBT) by using hot potatoes software, which is believed to be able to improve students’ achievement. Formative and summative questions were previously given using paper only, making the questions presented less interactive, resulting in low achievement of the students. This new procedure was adapted from ADDIE Model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). The development of the model results in the creation of a package called Computer based Test-English Computer (CBT-EC) that contains 9 sub-packages, divided into two divisions. The first division is composed of 8 packages that contain formative tests, where as the second division consists of 1 package of summative tests. Data of this research were collected using tests and questionnaires. The test instrument used multiple choices with formative form consists of 15 questions from each chapter, while summative form consists of 120 questions. Students’ responses were measured by distributing the questionnaires about the usage of CBT-EC product to 10 students. The questionnaires were given to the media expert and material expert to assess their feasibility. The results showed that the expert of material gave 79 out of 84 maximum point, or almost excellent, meaning that the questionnaires developed as the product of CBT-EC are worth implemented. Meanwhile, the assessment of the media expert gave a score of 63 out of 68 maximum points classified as good, meaning that the CBT-EC product is feasible to be implemented. Based on learning result from the formative and summative test, there was an increase of the students' achievement. In formative test, the students got the average score of 69%, whereas in summative test they recorded average score of 79%. In conclusion, CBT-EC product could increase students’ achievement.

Result shows that the information system of halal service available on the website needs to be developed using ergonomic participatory approach. The development of Halal Information System using participatory ergonomics approach is able to increase user satisfaction by 19.27% (pretest average 23.82 ± 2.81 and post-test 69.73 ± 3.1). Abstract

Halal has become a lifestyle that encompasses various aspects of life. The acceptance of halal standards is not only dominated by countries with Muslim populations, but also countries with a non-Muslim majority. This acceptance is based on an understanding of the sustainability and impact of halal products and services on whole life. Modest fashion Indonesia has spread worldwide and represents halal lifestyle. Modest fashion has become a tourist attraction and helped establish good relationship between Indonesia and world fashion. In this case, modest fashion serves as a tool of diplomacy. Unfortunately, modest fashion potency as supporter for tourism development has not been integrated well. This paper explores how modest fashion as a tool of diplomacy through creativity supports tourism. This is because the existence of tourism encourages multiplayer effects for other economic activities. Indonesia's cultural diversity and local wisdom should be an integral part of Indonesia's halal tourism. The contribution of fashion modest as a tool of diplomacy in creative industry to support halal tourism is analyzed using qualitative method through secondary data. The data show the development and acceptance of Indonesian modest fashion as well as its creativity utilizing culture and local wisdom has been widely accepted globally, but has not been fully exploited yet. Modest fashion has established good relationship between international actors. Integrating modest fashion with local wisdom and culture encourages the exploration of tourist destinations that are expected to encourage other halal standards in tourism. Ultimately it is expected to have a positive impact on sustainable development.

Abstract

Abstract

Qualitative research methodology courses become a provision for postgraduate students to carry out research, as one of the three obligations of college. The course is a new subject and most students had never practiced it and had never been familiar with the concepts. The aims of  the study is to analyzed the causes of learning difficulties and solutions carried out by students and by lecturers in qualitative research methodology courses. This study used a qualitative research approach with a case study design. Data were obtained from questionnaires and interviews with 20 postgraduate students of biology education, Universitas Negeri Malang. Data processing consists of: data reduction, data presentation, and making conclusions. The students experienced main problems in understanding the teaching materials used because it was written in English and the methods in various qualitative studies tend to be similar so causing confusion. Various solutions are carried out by students, for example: conducting discussions, compiling concept maps, and conducting qualitative research practices. Supporting lecturers have main difficulty in assessment. Lecturers take advantage of online media to facilitate assessment. The findings of this study provided alternative solutions for lecturers and students who take qualitative research methodology courses in order to minimize the constraints.
