Abstract

This research aims to determine the teacher’s perception of teacher-student interaction in the classroom. This research is conducted in SMA Negeri 3 Poso. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The subject is the English teacher and the students of tenth grade. The data are collected by observation about teacher-student interaction in the classroom and interviews with English teachers and somestudents of Academic Year 2017/2018. The result of the research shows that all students receive equal attention or help from the teacher, all students receive praise verbal is equal. While male students more participative in the classroom and they also usually get verbal sunction from the teacher

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the speech style of English Lecturers’ speech style in teaching English at Sintuwu Maroso University. Design of this research is descriptive qualitative. The instruments of this research are recording, interview and documentation. Data are gained by the result of recording and interview. The result of this research shows that the most dominant speech style used by English lecturers in teaching English are formal style and the second dominant is consultative style. The component of SPEAKING that trigger the speech style are setting (classroom), participants (lecturer and students) and ends (lecturing)

Abstract

In language learning, vocabulary is very important. The development of these skills should be known from the very beginning as a central element of language teaching. Therefore, this research aims to find out the teachers ' way to build vocabulary skills using text at SMA Negeri 1 Lage. The outcome of the study should be incorporated into the English vocabulary of teachers and students.The findings revealed that the reading text technique is effective in teaching new vocabularies. Beside that, this technique is important to help students memorize the new vocabularies. It can also stimulate them to be creative in producing and creating sentences

Abstract

The objectives of the research are to find out how many change of vowel sounds that often used by Pamonanese students and analyze how do Pamonanese students pronouncing English words. The researcher uses descriptive qualitative method in explain the result of the research. Data are gained from words, phrases, and sentences in English. The data are analyzed by using Fromkin theory of the relation between accent and phonology, and Mesthrie theory of seldom very localised accents, but rather modified regional accents. The result of the research shows that there are four change of vowel sounds that often used by Pamonanese students.They are vowel sound [ ə ] became [ e ], [ ɪ ] and [ i ] became [ i: ], [ ɔ ] and [ ə ]  became [ o ], and [ ə ] became [ a ]. Pamonanese students pronouncing English words in different ways or by their own way, such as changes vowel sounds when they are pronouncing an English word, and then produces the different sound of word. For example in the words again [əgɛn], someday [səmde], because [bɪkɔz] and animal [ænəməl]

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the lexical aspects in English nursery rhymes at Peniel Kindergarten school. Design of this research is descriptive qualitative. Data are gained by observation, interview and documentations. The result of this research shows that the five lexical aspects that found in English nursery rhymes, they are: repetition, synonymy, antonymy, meronymy and hyponymy.  Repetition type is the most dominant in the English nursery rhymes that are used at Peniel Kindergarten, it gives contribution toward the building of new vocabulary of the children through English nursery rhymes.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the perceptions of certification teachers to applying the scientific approach method in the learning process. The method used in study is a qualitative method. Data collection techniques in this study used interviews, observation and documentation. Sources of data in this study are 3 teachers who has been certified. The result of the study show that: (1) Students more active, creative and make the learning process an obligation; (2) The scientific approach many technique, more varied, using many kinds, and (3 make it easier the students for understand. It can be concluded that certified teachers perceptions in applying scientific approach is positive.

Abstract

This research aims to describe learning style of the students in learning English at MAN Morowali. Design of this research is qualitative research. The instruments of this research are questionnaire and documentation. Data are gained by the result of questionnaire and documentation. Abstract

The aims of this research to find the first students of SMP Sintuwu Maroso Poso ability in using “to be”.The problem formulation is: “What is the first year student’s at SMP Sintuwu Maroso  Poso ability in using “tobe”. The method in this research is descriptive qualitative. Source of this research Students’ first semester at SMP Sintuwu Maroso Poso consist of 24 students. The result of this research finding shows: The ability of the SMP Sintuwu Maroso Poso using “to be” in English sentences was be categorized “poor”. Abstract

This research purposed to find out the types of deixis in the movie titled Wonder and determine what is dominant deixis used. The object of the research is Auggie Pullman utterances. To identifying the types of deixis in Wonder, the researcher used the theory by Yule (1996) then determined what was the dominant deixis used in that film. This type of research is qualitative research. In collect the data, the researcher used script of Wonder movie (2017). The result of the research showed that the three types of deixis using theory of Yule (1996) such as person, time, and place deixis. The use of person deixis represented to Auggie and the participant in the movie. While, the time deixis represented to the timing of the conversation in the movie. Moreover, the place deixis represented to the distance of place or location from the conversation in the movie. The dominant deixis used is person deixis which is consist 254 deictic expressions from 285 data.

Abstract
