Abstract

The objective of this research is to investigate the nature of Christian education as a set of values transcending the boundaries of other disciplines, including agriculture. Additionally, this research examines the cultural phenomenon of repetition, which may be perceived as meaningful and sustainable. This research method employs field observation, in-depth interviews, and a researcher's immersion in cultural blending. The findings indicate that Christian education can be viewed as a flexible, adaptable value system, particularly when viewed through the lens of Pancasila, a philosophy that emphasizes the unity of humanity, justice, and spirituality. The findings indicate that the learning strategies employed in the context of SMK Pertanian Tumbang Lahang exemplify the values inherent in Christian education, including social sensitivity, responsiveness, care work, ritual, prayer, morality, empowerment, humility, and the cultivation of awareness.

Abstract

One of the critical points in communication is choosing appropriate diction and words that suit the situation. If it is inappropriate and conveyed out of context, miscommunication can trigger arguments or misunderstandings. The root of the problem is using inappropriate sentences when verbal communication occurs. Among several Bible verses that provide advice about good words, this research will formulate the meaning in the Book of Proverbs 25:11 regarding the concept of timely words in communication. With this study, it is hoped that conceptual indicators will emerge as to what the Bible means by these good words. The approach used in extracting the text is the exegesis of the verse Proverbs 25:11. Based on research, it can be concluded that good speech, apart from being a communication skill, is also formed by the presence of wisdom in the communicant and communicator. This is a sign that someone has spiritual maturity, visible credibility, and integrity in relationships with fellow humans. It was also concluded that to suppress bad habits in speaking, good education and correct understanding of the truth of God's word is needed on the one hand, and awareness that every word that comes out of the mouth cannot be revoked and has consequences, on the other hand.

Abstract

Sin has been a major problem since the fall of man. This is the reason for Jesus' reincarnation into the world: to redeem humankind from sin. However, even though the cross has taken place, the discussion about sin continues, especially in search of an answer as to whether Christians still sin even after being redeemed by the blood of Jesus. This article answers that question through the exegesis of one of the verses in New Testament studies, namely First John 3:9. An exploration of the meaning will be done on the statement that everyone born of God does not sin anymore. The research concludes that first, sin must be purified or sanctified through Jesus, the true redeemer. Second, Christians must decide to confess each of their sins and show repentance as a sign that Jesus has redeemed them. Thirdly, the Christian must build a new lifestyle by ceasing sin. In this case, despite being redeemed, the process and goal for Christians are still happening, and the process must be won as a characteristic of true Christianity.

Abstract

Reader Response Criticism is a postmodernist interpretation approach. The spirit of postmodernism greatly influences the interpretive activities carried out by this method. The philosophy of postmodernism is apparent in the characteristics of reader response criticism. The author explains how the Reader Response Criticism approach works in this study. In the research framework, the author uses the literature study method to obtain research data and the biblical hermeneutic method to find news from the Bible. From this research, it can be concluded that Reader Response Criticism considers that manna comes from several proposals, both animals and plants, which tells that the event did not happen miraculously but something normal based on the availability of manna in the area, as well as the quails they came usually because of fatigue so that no visible action of God in the event. But biblically speaking, both of these events were God working miraculously to do His providence for the Israelites who had been freed from slavery and had to pass through the wilderness for 40 years, and God provided food for them.

Abstract

This study is the antithesis of many studies on Gideon that praise and position him as a great leader. It is ironic that Gideon turned out to have a bad legacy to Israel as a result of the cohesion between leadership and the negative side of power and this is rarely exposed by researchers. The purpose of this study is to examine the factors of Gideon's failure and make it an important lesson for leaders to have the right character so that they can reach the end of good leadership (finishing well). Based on the hermeneutic method with a literature study approach, this article finds several negative factors of Gideon, namely: first, unstable emotions triggered controversial decisions as a slaughterer; second, leaving a legacy that led the Israelites to fall into the worship of ephods as idols; and third, having a high lust for power so that he named his son Abimelech, who later became king through intrigue and murder. The results of this study are very useful as an important lesson to every believer, that even though leaders are chosen by God, but as humans they still have weaknesses, so they should not be worshiped excessively.

Abstract

Historical fact indicates that the religious language of Christianity is rife with violence. The spiritual language is echoed in such bloody tragedies as war, murder, and punishment. This study aimed to encourage Christianity to understand violent religious language by viewing it in a reflective frame. The study uses qualitative methods to analyze history, so the literature that records the incidents of Christianity's involvement in violence is used. Analysis of the various literature produced two essential things as critical reflections on Christian theology. Based on historical facts of Christianity's involvement in violence, Christianity was at one time in a phase creating its doctrine (violence is not God's will), and Christianity played God (God did not engage in violence). That discovery is supposed to be part of a critical vehement from a violent point of view.

Abstract

Introduction to the Old Testament 1 by William Sanford Lasor is one of the classic textbooks discussing the Old Testament in the Christian Bible. This book provides readers with a deep understanding of the historical, cultural, and theological context behind the Old Testament books. Lasor uses a strong academic approach in analyzing Old Testament texts. He investigates the historical and cultural contexts in which these texts appear, helping readers understand the messages they contain. Although the book examines ancient texts, Lasor also draws connections between Old Testament messages and contemporary life. This helps readers see how the messages are still relevant in a modern context.

Abstract

In this book, Dr. Paul Enns combines all of things about theology, including all the theological methods. The author begins with biblical theology, then continues with studies of systematic theology, historical theology, dogmatic theology, and contemporary theology. Paul Enns explains and demonstrates these categories, and carefully evaluates each point in the light of God's Word. Biblical Theology is the study of doctrines in the Holy Bible according to developments in each era or according to the literature of each author, based on a chronological framework in the Bible. Systematic Theology is the study of doctrines from the Holy Bible, which are arranged and arranged based on themes from data obtained from the entire Bible. Historical Theology is the study of Christian religious doctrines that have been progressively debated, modified, and articulated by individuals or groups throughout the centuries since the end of the apostolic era. Dogmatic Theology is the study of the doctrines of Christian groups throughout church history, which have been systematized based on exclusive hermeneutical boundaries. Contemporary Theology is the study of the doctrines of Christian groups, which have developed in the twentieth century.

Abstract

This book contains the two-level struggle experienced by the churches during the Theological Consultation, the results of which were published by the PGI General Secretariat with the title 'Double Struggle'. There are six things that are the focus of the profile of 14 churches, namely (1) Church location and statistics, (2) Socio-cultural context, (3) Church history. (4) Organizational Structure, (5) Relations with other churches, (6) Relations between religions. Churches have experienced various challenges, such as financial challenges. Many churches in Indonesia in general were born as a result of mission work by churches from Europe and the United States. The financial and labor burden is borne by the parent church, namely the respective zending bodies. Churches also face challenges from external factors. There are several challenges to face. The final part of this book provides conclusions, namely several research findings and directions for change. The findings of this research are that the profiles of the churches studied have succeeded in revealing quite up-to-date data about the state of each church's service area and the latest statistical conditions, the socio-cultural context of each church, the history of church development, the organizational structure of each church, ecumenical relations between churches, and inter-religious relations.
