Abstract

Puberty is a normal developmental process in which a child develops into a biologically and/or sexually mature adult. Even though puberty is a natural event, it is not uncommon for children to be confused or worried about puberty. Therefore, using the Participatory Action Research Method, this community service aims to increase knowledge about puberty in boys in the Sambikerep sub-district, Surabaya. The activities include health promotion, education, and free circumcision for the children by surgeons and medical students from the School of Medicine, Universitas Ciputra Surabaya. Statistical analysis of knowledge before and after health promotion used the Wilcoxon test in SPSS version 26 with a significance limit of p < 0.05. The overall community service activities ran quite smoothly; there were 24 children who took part, with the number of children getting a pre-test score < 75 points as high as 29.2%. However, no children got a post-test score of < 75 points after the health promotion. The median score of knowledge about puberty before and after health promotion was 75 (12.5–100) and 100 (87.5–100) points, respectively (p-value <0.001). Through this community service, health promotion and education about puberty must be continuously provided to pre-pubertal boys so that they have a good understanding of puberty and make healthy decisions related to their sexual and emotional health.

Abstract

Seventy percent of Indonesia's territory consists of water. Several regions make fish farming a livelihood to optimize this potential. One of them is Ponggok Village, Klaten. Ponggok Village already has superior products made from Nile tilapia fish, but product diversification is needed to expand market segmentation and increase income. By diversifying, products will be more interesting and varied and have a higher selling value. Nile tilapia fish can be converted into frozen food products with yellow spices through village community empowerment program training using the fourth step of the ABCD method, named the Asset Based Community Development method. The first step is to "discover" by finding community groups and identifying the needs, especially the people of Ponggok Village. The second step is to "dream" to create dreams for community groups and overcome the problems in marketing Nile tilapia fish. The third step is "design" that overcome the problem of marketing Nile tilapia fish in Ponggok Village; the P2MD team collaborated with Nile tilapia MSMEs by diversifying Nile tilapia fish products into Bumbu Kuning Frozen Food. The fourth step is "destiny", with the implementation of the collaboration between the P2MD team and the Nile tilapia fish MSMEs of Ponggok Village. At this stage, the P2MD team provides training assistance. Through the ABCD method and the collaboration of the P2MD team with Nile Tilapia fish MSMEs, the result is the diversification of Bumbu Kuning Nile tilapia Frozen Food products, which can last approximately three months, so they can be marketed more widely and increase the income of Ponggok Village Nile tilapia MSMEs. Hopefully, the Bumbu Kuning Nile tilapia Fish Frozen Food Training can increase the activity and economy of the Ponggok Village community.

Abstract

This community partnership program focuses on groups often experiencing discrimination, namely women, children, and vulnerable communities (including those with disabilities). This PKM (Community Partnership Program) aims to create a library environment that is friendly to women and attentive to children, thereby supporting the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) or sustainable village programs. It aims to increase village community awareness about gender equality and child protection issues through the library. Additionally, it seeks to enhance the knowledge and skills of library staff regarding gender equality and child protection issues. The program also involves increasing the number of books that support gender equality, women's rights, and child protection in the village library. This community partnership program implements the PAR (Participatory Action Research) method, aiming to increase active community involvement, sustainability, and positive impacts of the village library program in supporting the Women-Friendly and Child-Caring Village Program. The activities were conducted in Bicak Village, Trowulan Subdistrict, Mojokerto Regency. The results of this community partnership program include a 100% increase in community understanding of the role of the Village Library in supporting the SDGs and the Women-Friendly, Child-Caring, and Social Inclusion Village Program. After the socialisation activities, 95.7% of the community became more interested in utilising the collections and services available at the Bicak Village Library. The technical guidance activities for managers improved library management development and enhanced the knowledge and understanding of library managers regarding the library's role in gender equality and child protection. This PKM activity demonstrated that 100% of respondents believe the village library can support the Women-Friendly, Child-Caring, and Social Inclusion Village Program. This establishes Bicak Village as a friendly village for women, children, and vulnerable communities and achieves sustainable village development through the role of the village library.

Abstract

The execution of interior construction work involves a complex series of processes carried out in parallel and interdependent. Additionally, the nature of the work is highly specialized, with tasks being divided according to the characteristics and professions of those performing them. It is crucial to maintain regular coordination and control to ensure that all activities are consistent and aligned throughout building construction. This, of course, requires the involvement of a team capable of managing the project, creating work plans, and coordinating with other teams. They need strong communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and effective leadership. The success of an interior construction project can be measured by the production of high-quality work, adherence to the planned budget, and timely completion in accordance with agreements. Therefore, performance-oriented control is necessary to complete an interior construction project successfully. In the management of interior construction projects, the concept of earned value integrates cost and time. By applying this concept, the overall performance of an interior construction project, as well as that of individual work packages, can be identified and predicted. The results of this performance evaluation can serve as an early warning if inefficiencies arise during the completion of the interior construction project. This community service activity, aimed at empowering interior construction workers, embodies the effort to develop project management capabilities within this field. This activity aims to provide a project management guide for interior construction that supports the development of team capabilities. The method of this community service activity was carried out through socialization and community empowerment activities related to the stages of an interior construction project management process to improve work productivity. With controlled work planning, productivity improvement could also be achieved through enhanced job promotion. The results of this activity showed that the implementation of the service activity was deemed successful, with a significant improvement in test scores, from a very low knowledge level of 0-40 to a very good knowledge level of 86-100. In the execution of interior construction, the ability to organize and manage work was required to achieve the best results and market them directly according to the chosen strategy. Additionally, partner feedback indicated that they strongly agreed with the implementation of this program.

Abstract

Pencak Silat is a traditional sport that requires intense training to achieve maximum performance. Central Java's Pencak Silat Regional Training athletes undergo intensive training, often resulting in injuries. Injuries occur due to poor physical recovery and the absence of therapists to expedite the recovery process. Group 142 students from the UNS MBKM Community Service program established a Sports Massage Service to accelerate recovery after intense training. This program was implemented at the Central Java Pencak Silat Regional Training Athlete dormitory in Semarang, Central Java, specifically in Patemon village, Gunung Pati district. The service aims to provide massage services that can alleviate muscle fatigue, reduce pain, decrease the risk of injury, and maximize recovery. The method used is Asset Based Community Development (ABCD). The service involved direct observation of 11 athletes and interviews with coaches. The results indicated a reduction in the average pain intensity from 5.64 to 2.73, with an average decrease of 2.91. The figure of 2.91 indicates that the pain is in the mild category. The impact of this service is reduced pain and more optimal recovery for the Central Java Pencak Silat Regional Training athletes in preparation for the Adult National Championship Pre-National Sports Week (PON). The results of this activity demonstrate that the sports massage service is effective in maximizing recovery and reducing pain after intense training.
