Abstract

Towards the end of the 20th century, historical records indicate that Semarang was struck by several massive flood disasters, including those in 1973, 1988, and the most severe in 1990. These recurring flood disasters subsequently raised questions regarding how the government and the community responded to the floods that routinely struck Semarang. This paper is an environmental history study aimed at tracing the mitigation measures implemented following the 1990 flash flood in Semarang City. This research employs the historical method by exploring primary sources in the form of contemporaneous newspapers and documents, as well as secondary sources in the form of relevant literature. The revitalization program was implemented as a disaster mitigation measure in the Kali Garang Watershed, which was the location most severely affected by the 1990 flash flood. This program was carried out gradually, starting from small-scale river normalization at the end of 1990 to the construction of the National Strategic Project of the Jatibarang Dam, which officially began operations in 2015. The revitalization efforts of the Kali Garang Watershed area were not an easy task, considering that the broad scope of the watershed became a challenge for all related elements, ranging from stakeholders to the community dealing directly with the ferocity of the Kali Garang. Integrated watershed management serves as a crucial key to breaking the cycle of flood disasters in Semarang City, particularly in the Kali Garang Watershed.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of learning community activities with a deep learning approach on improving teacher competence and performance as well as the correlation between competence and teacher performance. The study used a quantitative method with an experimental design involving the experimental group and the control group. Data collection techniques include questionnaires, documentation, and observations. Data analysis included statistical tests of normality, homogeneity, t-test, and Pearson correlation test. The results of the prerequisite test showed that the data had a normal distribution and were homogeneous, making them eligible for parametric analysis. The results of the independent sample t-test showed a significance value of 0.001 (< 0.05) with a mean difference of 10.083, which indicates a significant difference between the two groups, where the experimental group obtained a higher score than the control group. In addition, the Pearson correlation test produced a significance value of 0.002 with a correlation coefficient of 0.781 which is included in the strong and positive categories, thus showing a close relationship between competence and teacher performance. These results reinforce that the implementation of deep learning-based learning communities is able to improve competence while having an impact on significantly improving teacher performance.

Abstract

This study describes and analyzes the management of school literacy programs at SMA Negeri 9 Ambon and SMA Negeri 5 Ambon. The research used a qualitative multi-site design because it examined naturally occurring school practices in two senior high schools. Data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation involving principals, teachers, library staff, and students. The analysis followed the interactive model of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while credibility was strengthened through source, technique, and time triangulation. The findings show that the two schools have implemented literacy activities, especially reading before lessons, but the level of management varies. At SMA Negeri 5 Ambon, planning reached 75%, organizing 100%, implementation 100%, and evaluation 100%. The school also conducts an annual Language Month program to develop students' literacy interests. At SMA Negeri 9 Ambon, planning reached 50%, organizing 66.6%, implementation 100%, and evaluation 66.6%. Both schools have not yet established a formal School Literacy Team, and several activities remain dependent on subject teachers. Supporting factors include principal support, teacher involvement, library availability, and coordination between teachers and library staff. Inhibiting factors include limited varied reading materials, low student reading motivation, teacher punctuality issues, and the absence of formal evaluation instruments. The study concludes that literacy programs require stronger formal planning, structured teams, diversified reading resources, and systematic evaluation to become sustainable school culture.

Abstract

The anchovy (ikan bilis) production industry in Sedanau, Bunguran Barat District, Natuna Regency, represents a significant livelihood source for the local coastal community, yet its production practices have never been evaluated against the normative standards of Islamic economics. This study aims to examine the anchovy production process in its full operational detail and to assess that process from the perspective of Islamic economics, particularly regarding the principles of halal, tayyib, business honesty, food safety, and social responsibility. Employing a qualitative approach with a case study design, data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman & Saldaña. The study finds that the production process operates through four stages, harvesting, boiling, drying, and marketing, with considerable economic efficiency. However, three critical normative deviations are identified: the use of deteriorating raw material in violation of the tayyib and shiddiq principles, the repeated reuse of boiling water that compromises food safety, and the disruptive placement of drying mats in public spaces that inflicts harm on the surrounding community. These findings carry direct implications for SDG 2, SDG 3, SDG 8, and SDG 10, underscoring the urgent need for Islamic economic literacy and production guidance in informal coastal food enterprises.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of the principles of amanah (trustworthiness) and adamul gharar (absence of uncertainty) in online trading practices among small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Ranai City, as well as to identify the underlying factors that shape such practices amid the limited theoretical understanding of Islamic economics among the business actors. This study employs a qualitative approach with a case study design, utilizing in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation as data collection techniques. Data analysis was conducted using the interactive model proposed by Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña, while data validity was assessed through the criteria established by Lincoln and Guba. The findings reveal that the principles of amanah and adamul gharar have been factually manifested through honest product presentation, transparent transactional communication, and consistency between digital information and the actual condition of goods. These practices are not grounded in formal muamalah literacy, but rather emerge organically from strong local community social bonds, cultural internalization of religious values, digital market reputation pressure, and the normative influence of informal trader networks. These findings contribute to contemporary Islamic economic discourse by demonstrating that muamalah values can be realized through cultural pathways without requiring formal theoretical prerequisites, while simultaneously supporting the achievement of SDG 8 and SDG 10 through a fair and sustainable digital trading ecosystem.

Abstract

This systematic literature review examines evidence-based approaches and strategies for enhancing discipline and social-emotional skills in students across various educational settings. The review synthesizes 28 empirical studies published between 2021 and 2025, encompassing meta-analyses, randomized controlled trials, systematic reviews, and mixed-methods investigations. Key findings reveal that universal social-emotional learning (SEL) programs demonstrate significant positive effects on student competencies, behavioral outcomes, school climate, and academic achievement. Mentalization-based interventions, emotion regulation training, and whole-school approaches show promise in reducing disruptive behavior and fostering prosocial development. Evidence-based classroom management programs and structured SEL curricula emerge as effective strategies for integrating discipline support with competency development. Implementation quality, teacher self-efficacy, family involvement, and autonomy-supportive teaching practices are identified as critical moderating factors. The review highlights persistent challenges including the need for culturally responsive adaptations, longitudinal outcome measurement, and differential effectiveness for students with special educational needs. Recommendations emphasize the importance of tiered support systems combining universal prevention with targeted interventions, professional development focused on implementation fidelity, and systematic monitoring of discipline indicators alongside social-emotional competencies. This review provides educators, policymakers, and researchers with comprehensive guidance for selecting, implementing, and evaluating integrated approaches to discipline and social-emotional learning.
